- inactive, on 05/06/2009, -2/+54So it's okay for the RIAA to lie.. but if anyone else does it it's bad is it.. so what else are they lying about..?? I wish I was the RIAA so I could base my business model on committing copyright infringement and stealing peoples songs and lyrics while not paying them any money and get away with it like they do.
- grimacebrown, on 05/07/2009, -0/+494.) Profit
- khaosx2030, on 05/07/2009, -0/+48it's trying to
- BigManOnCampus, on 05/06/2009, -1/+43The RIAA is an endangered species, and everyone f-ing knows it.
- murrdpirate, on 05/07/2009, -0/+38They said they had stopped "initiating new lawsuits." Technically they did stop INITIATING new lawsuits, they just continued with the lawsuits already initiated with settlement letters. So it's not a question of how you define "new," it's a question of how you define "initiate."
Can I at least get a eulogy? - rahsut, on 05/07/2009, -1/+35When the article said "It depends on what 'new' means" it reminded me of "It depends on what the meaning of 'is' is"
anyways, ***** the RIAA - blitzkriegpunk, on 05/07/2009, -0/+30RIAA: ***** them.

- inactive, on 05/07/2009, -1/+24RUCK FIAA.
- summer0f89, on 05/07/2009, -0/+21does anyone else think this submission was a social experiment to see if an article titled simply "RIAA:" would make it to the front page?
- Dylson, on 05/07/2009, -2/+22The RIAA. ***** it.
- AdHaR, on 05/07/2009, -0/+20They accidentally the whole title.
- nigelmansell, on 05/07/2009, -2/+22i would like to give a shout out to my main man pagno, and ***** THE RIAA
- handheldchimp, on 05/07/2009, -1/+20***** them as well?
Also @ebcreasoner...why did "2 Girls 1 Cup" come to mind when he said MPAA? - trucanadian, on 05/07/2009, -4/+23because saying it on digg in caps lock will make it happen
- inactive, on 05/07/2009, -2/+19I realize everyone on Digg hates the RIAA (with good reason) but how about you guys try actually reading the article? They have not followed any new lawsuits, and in this case actually have followed through with their promise (so far). The only thing the article says is there were some lawsuits against unnamed people and now the RIAA has named these people if they refuse to settle and are suing them.
To repeat, no new people are getting sued who previously were not. Try not to let your bias cloud your heads to the point where you can't even grasp the purpose of an article. - mr_ziy, on 05/07/2009, -0/+17The RIAA needs to ***** themselves
- esteskid, on 05/07/2009, -2/+17I keep praying for it will help, but Jesus just won't listen.
- dsmx, on 05/07/2009, -0/+15Come to Homers BBBQ
the extra B is for BBYOB. - nigelmansell, on 05/07/2009, -0/+14Since you're from Canada, it would be appropriate to give a shout out to CRIA, the Canadian version of RIAA.
***** THE CRIA TOO - MaxxusFlamus, on 05/07/2009, -0/+14I hate the RIAA and give to the EFF out of spite, but you're right in this case.
- Snoogs, on 05/07/2009, -0/+13That's a typo.
- evergrim, on 05/07/2009, -0/+13***** the RIAA is a meme.
- uberduger, on 05/07/2009, -0/+13What's that extra B for?
- Sil369, on 05/07/2009, -0/+12lalalala i can't hear u lalalalal
- s4g4n, on 05/07/2009, -1/+12Ok everybody, all at once. In 3....2...1.. ***** THE RIAA repeat 5x (chorus)
- Snooper1989, on 05/07/2009, -0/+11*That'll leech them!
- Doopdoop, on 05/07/2009, -0/+11Scientology.
- latrosicarius, on 05/07/2009, -0/+9Not if we all keep supporting them by buying their products. If you want their business model to change, you have to stop paying them.

- slide23, on 05/07/2009, -1/+10Infinite loop!
- trucanadian, on 05/07/2009, -0/+9the RIAA is defining new as cases that are not in process yet. I think this is a fair definition. The RIAA said they wouldn't file anymore but that doens't mean they wont stop the ones already being filed. Looking at it from their point of view, they've already spent money on many of the cases. Would they really drop charges on all of them? What a waste of their money.
- SpiritOfRock, on 05/07/2009, -0/+9I wish above comment wasn't in the middle of a thread, because he deserves a few hundred diggs for that.
- mizike, on 05/07/2009, -0/+8After reading the article, it seems like they're defining "won't initiate new cases" as "won't initiate new cases" whereas the submitter was defining it as "will drop all existing cases and generally stop acting like a bunch of *****". This is them doing exactly what they said they would, nothing more. There are more than enough reasons to hate the RIAA without taking their statements way out of context and making ***** up.
- BananaGrabber, on 05/07/2009, -1/+9Not that I agree with what they're doing, but I wouldn't count ongoing cases as new either. Their definition of new is completely sound and they're technically haven't broken their promise. Like I said though, I abhor what they're doing. It's just a semantics thing.
- Pottersquash, on 05/07/2009, -1/+8i mean, if they already did the leg work, it would be stupid not to file. I figured they meant they would prepare no new cases, not they wont file ones already worked up.

- DannySpace, on 05/07/2009, -1/+7Ok, this time.... It really is a trap!
- Rockyn, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6Saying it on digg may not make it happen, but ALL CAPS ensures that it will happen.
