- japer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The page doesn't really bunk nor debunk the "climbing inside a dead animal to prevent freezing to death" myth.
Soldiers of both Hitler and Napoleon used dead horses to prevent freezing to death while retreating from the environs of Moscow. - nozol03, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No Digg... they never really answered many questions, they just laughed about it. I thought that maybe there would be some kind of scientific tests behind this, such as temperatures of the inside of a simulated animal corpse in a blizzard... instead, just lame jokes.
I love Star Wars, and usually Myth Busters is pretty cool, but the article just didn't do it for me. - exick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Idiots. They put a picture of the 4 of them and fail to show one of the smoking hot Kari? That's an outrage.
- fonz0069, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1+digg.
Good read, but a bit on the long side - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Genius. I can't believe people have negative things to say about this article. Honestly, is there ANYTHING people won't whine about on Digg?
- bossm4n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mythbusters is all about tech and I think most here are big fans. At least it's not another fuxin Steve Jobs or Ubuntu story.
And could Grant take Busters place for one of the experiments please? - exick, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"They were focusing on the members of the cast that have previously worked for ILM and on Star Wars movies..."
First of all, so? Since when do you need an excuse to put a picture of a hot girl that Mythbusters and Star Wars geeks regularly drool over? Especially on the internet. And second, has Tory worked on Star Wars before? - senselessending, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Star Wars + Mythbusters = Digg
- bigballajrich, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0imagine working for that show...that would be the tightest job...
- Diggs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^^hahahaha
- pmhesse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what a charmed life they lead. working on star wars movies, hosting mythbusters... i think i'm turning green with envy.
- tylerni7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I <3 Star Wars!!!!!!!!!
(stupid html getting rid of thos triangle things)*** - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Wow, a Sci Fi story on the front page that isn't about Firefly.
The world is coming to an end. - Dhalgren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"They put a picture of the 4 of them and fail to show one of the smoking hot Kari?"
This is on starwars.com:
They were focusing on the members of the cast that have previously worked for ILM and on Star Wars movies... - LatvianHedgehog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digg for adam & jamie
- Rosco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Most excellent find!
- Waffledog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Aw man. Misleading headline... I thought they actually were going to devote a whole episode to busting Star Wars myths.
Though I guess testing the real world effects of a lightsaber slicing your head off would be kind of hard to replicate... - vatchea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0good read!
- pmhesse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Heck, with enough attention paid, perhaps they'll make an episode like they did for the Jaws Special on Shark Week last year (http://dsc.discovery.com/convergence/sharkweek/sharkweek.html). Discovery has already been in bed with Lucas already for the "Science of Star Wars" marketing blitz/series (http://www.starwars.com/community/news/media/news20050513.html) so at least we can hope!
- ProAm500, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0unrelated, but am i the only one having problems with Sage in Firefox the last couple days not getting some stories from the front page....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Gotta love these guys :)
- databasecowboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Have to back up Japer on that, surprised the mythbusters didn't mention it, but they just seemed to be joking around more than anything.
Additionally, I just read in the Star Tribune about a guy who fell off a grain tower to pavement without getting hurt (although a girl who did a slightly further fall died just the other day from the same tower), so doing that fall into the snow would be nothing to a hero like Luke Skywalker.
As for R2-D2 as a sidekick, I have always thought he was based on the collie, a sort of robot version of the border collie -- rammy, inquisitive and always on top of things... - Kitsune818, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@ exick : Did you read TFA? Tori was talking about photos of himself taken when he worked on SW..
"Working on Star Wars was absolutely a dream come true," Belleci says. - XxN3RDC0R3xX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool, but I was hoping for more scientific answers =/
- pmhesse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Crud. Links above broken because of closing parentheses.

http://www.starwars.com/community/news/media/news20050513.html - pmhesse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0chiablo--of mythbusters, or star wars? if the latter, maybe don't bother :)
- Wardvark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no digg
- ProfMo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"And could Grant take Busters place for one of the experiments please?" -- Aw man, I like Grant! He's neat.
That was a good article. If you like that, see if you can find Skeptic Magazine Dec 2005 (though given this crowd, I'm sure you've all already read it). They interview Jamie, Adam, and the creator of Mythbusters (pulling a blank on his name right now... grr). It's a fun read too. - donolsen1155, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's one myth that was already proven. :)

What does that have to do with Star Wars? That's not even what happened. Han put Luke in the tauntaun's innards to stop him from freezing to death temporarily while he set up the shelter he had with him. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0But did Luke run Linux?
- tylerni7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I
- deathguppie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You guys are sooo not getting any girlfriend...
- Chiablo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Thanks for the reminder to download the last 3 episodes I missed!
- ecahoon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You gotta love Star Wars stories
- Pureeviljester, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Utterly pointless.
