- TomFrost, on 06/27/2009, -14/+390Five years?! I understand it's difficult opening up a site that will generate such incredible server load, but ... honestly, five years?
- humanerror, on 06/27/2009, -4/+248Now all the pirate bay has to do is replace facebook, digg, and google. The rest of the internet will then be obsolete.
- ValkMissile, on 06/28/2009, -3/+197I don't think he was serious. It was more of a "Don't ***** ask us when it'll be done" kind of thing.
- Baskinghobo, on 06/28/2009, -2/+138I was kind of excited about this until i found out it's won't use any kind of p2p technology to stream videos. How are they suppose to create a video site that's copyright-free and they host the videos. It will be shutdown straight after it launches
- mikael110, on 06/28/2009, -1/+136HTML5 FTW!
- Sil369, on 06/28/2009, -1/+80and with lasers!!!
- louiemantia, on 06/28/2009, -7/+82Then why do you need Google? O_O
- sparkplug890, on 06/28/2009, -1/+66flying lasers.
- PlusTheBear, on 06/27/2009, -8/+68Nice. I don't even care about the copyright issue as much as the freedom to say what you want, which our default youtube can revoke at any time.
- avalanche123, on 06/28/2009, -1/+56They coulda placed servers in Brazil, since their president is so pro Pirate Bay, then no one could shut them down.
- Amadeus2490, on 06/28/2009, -1/+44pew pew
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -21/+625 years for a Youtube clone?.
***** that... - TecK415, on 06/28/2009, -10/+51LOL, 5 years.
nuff said.
-_- - ousthouse, on 06/28/2009, -2/+42I'm pretty sure YouTube (in its current form) will be obsolete in 5 years.
- nightmyst999, on 06/28/2009, -0/+37Megavideo regularly removes videos when someone complains about copyright infringement.
- motang, on 06/28/2009, -0/+34Glad to see that it will be using HTML5's video tag!
- insinuate, on 06/28/2009, -2/+34OMFG YES.
DEATH STAR HERE WE COME - Gareth321, on 06/28/2009, -2/+33I laughed. If you take a step back, that's actually quite insightful and funny.
- CasualT, on 06/28/2009, -1/+31Remember how amazing Stage6 used to be?
- linagee, on 06/28/2009, -0/+26Maybe they have to find an island or develop a protocol that ensures complete anonymity?
- PlusTheBear, on 06/28/2009, -6/+31Megavideo?
- accursed, on 06/28/2009, -2/+27Bacon?
- evilesttoast, on 06/28/2009, -4/+28The Brazilians would just lag down the connection with all their MMO players trying to connect to North American servers all the while sending HUEHUEHUEHUEHUE into chat.
Also USA won FIFA. - Philbert, on 06/28/2009, -1/+24I wonder how many read the article. When he says “it will be done when it’s done, in the future, in like a year or five.” I don't think he means it to be taken literally. It's a figure of speech.
- alpha88, on 06/28/2009, -1/+21Yes, no more flash, I can't wait!
- alpha88, on 06/28/2009, -1/+19It don't think it was meant to be taken literally.
And no censorship is a good thing. - NaturalCauzes, on 06/28/2009, -1/+19Don't forget twitter! Wait, yeah forget twitter.
- Moralogic, on 06/28/2009, -1/+19I see they are not supporting Internet Explorer then, haha.
- DontEatTheFish, on 06/28/2009, -0/+17I need to log in to register...? I guess the really meant it when they said that it is beta and they drunk coding...
- insinuate, on 06/28/2009, -1/+17Yeah, no *****, how about you surprise us in a few years and say "hey guys in two weeks we're gonna have this kickass site you'll love as much as TPB!"
- Travelsonic, on 06/28/2009, -4/+20Hope this means a safe place for classic nickelodeon shows (Salute Your Shorts, Hey Dude, Pete & Pete, Double Dare, etc)... they used to be safe on YouTube, but not any more... even some parodies, and uses that would fall under Fair Use aren't spared by the Viacom monster.
- ceredron, on 06/28/2009, -0/+14you know that talks are going to severely limit the content on hulu and major networks move to pay-to-watch sites, right? Free online video is already on the decline, if you didn't notice... Just a year ago you could watch just about any tv show from any season anywhere online, now you can't even go back and watch an old episode of an old tv show without either waiting for the rolling season on hulu or digging deep into the internet to find some chinese server that hosts it slower than dial-up.
- Heretushi, on 06/28/2009, -0/+13Correction : YOU have Hulu. WE don't. Seems like the private US VPN is closed from here.
- treas, on 06/28/2009, -0/+13You're right, you're not entitled. But it won't stop people from wanting it.
- KRG12345, on 06/28/2009, -1/+14@petersonca
You have obviously never met my parents. - dazparkour, on 06/28/2009, -2/+15There is no complete anonymity - just "Good enough" anonymity - even Tor - at the end of the day, SOMEONE somewhere needs to know who you are to send you the data.
- Erik1421, on 06/28/2009, -4/+17I ***** love the pirate bay
- SaladCactusKing, on 06/28/2009, -0/+12They didn't say five years. They said, "a year or five" with my guessing that it was said firmly tongue in cheek
- Railz, on 06/28/2009, -2/+14Email still works relatively the same. Nothings changed on the front end extensively to the point where its indistinguishable between the last 5 years.
- BigVi, on 06/28/2009, -0/+12It will be interesting to see if this works. Their argument with the torrent site is that none of the info was saved on their servers.
- Travelsonic, on 06/28/2009, -1/+13"Honestly I think this is going to be detrimental to free online video. Copyrighted TV shows and movies aren't cheap and we already have Hulu and other online sites..."
What about old TV shows that aren't on DVD and aren't on Hulu? - inactive, on 06/28/2009, -1/+12they didn't get off the hook.
- dienaked, on 06/28/2009, -0/+11It's obviously going to be quantum movie delivery.
We will watch movies from the future whose copyright hasn't started yet. - PlusTheBear, on 06/28/2009, -1/+11Profit isn't everything. Youtube's not leaving anytime soon.
- T440, on 06/28/2009, -2/+11Not really.....remember email ~5 years ago?
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -1/+10He didn't say that he *SHOULD BE* entitled to say whatever he wants wherever he wants. He said that he'll use the service of whoever chooses to give him that entitledment. That's his choice as a consumer, and kinda what makes capitalism works. Learn to ***** read, before you criticize, tard.
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -0/+8Wow. this is one of the worst pedobears i have seen in a while. an upcoming video site? come on
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -0/+8You are an idiot.
