How do you know that the person you're connecting to is actually the *tracker*, and not some snooping system doing a man-in-the-middle attack. SSL gets around this by signing certificates, but you have to trust the signer. I'm sure that's right out, as most CAs (especially Verisign) could easily sell-out to the NSA without a second thoug.... +++ATH

IPETEE is NOT short for “Transparent end-to-end encryption for the Internets,”. You could go with TE2EE4I or maybe TE^3 4 teh I's or something like that, but IPETEE is short for some other phrase.

In Finland, there was a case in court where user was maintaining a TOR node and traffic that went through his computer, was stored temporarely to the disk. Problem is, someone was browsing childporn and TOR node maintainer was unaware of it. Anyway, Cops came, he was prosecuted based on the finding child porn on his computer and judged on trial. So if you run TOR node, be aware that this might happen to you.
