- AutoTom, on 07/01/2009, -5/+29the site is fantastic, sadly its hosted on a pentium 2 333mhz running vista.
- Barackalypse, on 07/01/2009, -1/+23I was just thinking to myself how much better the Internet would be if only it had another gadget site!
- Maynza, on 07/01/2009, -5/+25Vwls r fr lsrs.
- gdog05, on 07/01/2009, -0/+18Why would a laser need a vowel?
- lukemorris, on 07/01/2009, -1/+19... and it's already crushed.
- Eminemdrdre00, on 07/01/2009, -1/+175 minutes after Engadget made this post...gdgt went down. Hopefully by the time this hits the front page, they'll get everything sorted out!
- seandfeeney, on 07/01/2009, -1/+13kudos to engaget for keeping it classy
- jordn, on 07/01/2009, -1/+11I just want a tech news site which isn't plagued with fanboys from either sides spreading misinformation! is that too hard to ask?!
- Jarth, on 07/01/2009, -0/+9THE TUBES ARE CLOGGED
- diggduggDOOM, on 07/01/2009, -0/+9not hard to ask, impossible to deliver
- jawbreaker4fs, on 07/01/2009, -0/+7Quite a boring site, considering how much time and effort they put into developing it. I was expecting something more interesting.
- ThreeDee912, on 07/01/2009, -0/+6I hate tons of spam and fake users even more.
- thelastcivilian, on 07/01/2009, -1/+7Can I pronounce it "Gidget"?
That way it can be "The Little Site with Big Ideas," which I think is pretty apt. - SouthsideIrish, on 07/01/2009, -0/+6Maybe, but trying to get a domain name with the vowels is either impossible or expensive.
- ThreeDee912, on 07/01/2009, -2/+7You can learn about how Engadget was formed back in 2004 by listening to their "5th Birthday" podcast:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/18/engadget-podcas ...
They sacrificed a lot to make the site what it is today.
Although AOL ended up purchasing them, they haven't screwed anything up, other than place a few more ads here and there. - Shaggy6ster, on 07/01/2009, -3/+8I think the trend of naming your website without using any vowels is a little burned out.
- MYdigitalLUNG, on 07/02/2009, -0/+4What the hell is the point of this website and what it offers? Yay, I get to be bragadocious about the gadgets I own on my Facebook page! Like the guy above me said.. it took 12 months to come up with this idiotic concept?
- nickbr00tality, on 07/01/2009, -0/+4I got my email for this this morning. I completely forgot all about this site and that I pre-registered.
- mightymouse, on 07/01/2009, -0/+4Wow. 12 months to make this??? Srsly gys. U cn do bttr thn ths.
- immatellyouwhat, on 07/01/2009, -1/+4Finally! Whoo Hoo! Nice of engadget to announce it...
- Vindicoth, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3aaaaaaaaaaand its gone!
/southpark - jpowlus, on 07/01/2009, -0/+3more like the twitter effect. the site was down well before digg was sending any substantial traffic.
- jeffclark, on 07/01/2009, -1/+4.....who?
- Drakh, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2My curiosity: Will readers continue to flock to the site just to update and chat about their gadgets absent of some kind of incentive for doing so? What about the Giant Bomb / Bitmob approach of offering some kind of reward -- increased access or front-page highlights -- for users that contribute valuable content?
more here: http://is.gd/1kWBT - nunquam, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2Finally! I really was starting to think it was all a big secret joke to see how much publicity they could get out of a non existent site. But it's up now, I eat my hat. Best of Ryan and Peter!
- mmijatov, on 07/01/2009, -0/+2I had the opportunity to use the site for a bit and I would say it is much too early to make any determination. The concept of being able to share what gadgets you own, have owned, or want is nifty . . . but I do wonder what real value that adds.
Lack of support for OpenID or similar service was surprising. I really expected them to be ahead of the curve on this one. There were some usability issues I felt were present in the navigation. I wonder how much research they put into it? I felt there were areas that were not intuitive.
There isn't any content up yet so we'll see how things progress. I wouldn't count these guys out by any means, but so far I didn't see anything that really differentiated them from other sites. They've got their work cut out for them, I'm skeptical right now but I am going to stick with it and see how they develop. - DouglasQ, on 07/02/2009, -0/+2Damn it. I hate that I'm on a website where that makes sense to everyone.
- ds143, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1what about tuaw.com?
- mandarin, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1Another gadget site?

great site though !! - RPGmaster, on 07/02/2009, -0/+1I've heard that's what happened to flickr, someone was squating flicker.com
- nealdd, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1I would wait a week to start to use it. That should save you a lot of time and frustration.
- Twenty5, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1wow.... is engadget and gizmodo not giving you enough traffic??
DIGG IT.
......site's obviously down.... thx for the Digg tho /sarcasm - DBeta, on 07/01/2009, -0/+1Sorry, but according to Ryan and Peter, it's pronounced just GDGT(every letter said separately). There was in issue with calling it just "gadget", probably that they don't have that domain, and it's too close to Engadget(considering it's from the people who brought you Engadget).
- metalica77, on 07/01/2009, -2/+2lol they need more bandwidth
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -2/+2srsly?
- ThreeDee912, on 07/01/2009, -2/+2"We're upgrading things at the moment, but we'll be back in a fix! Sorry!"
At least we know they're working on it. - caribwebs, on 07/02/2009, -0/+0Does cuil anticipation ring a bell to anyone else but me?
- charleszhang, on 07/02/2009, -1/+0Yall should rate gdgt / review at http://appuseful.com/app/n/gdgt

- immatellyouwhat, on 07/01/2009, -3/+2wht r y tlkng bt?
- inactive, on 07/01/2009, -9/+4Bleh. The site is ***** ugly, and Block's always been the worst Apple twatboy.
- apologeticus, on 07/01/2009, -7/+1they had to know the digg effect was coming.
