PRQ Fire Takes Down Several Torrent Sites

torrentfreak.com — A fire at Swedish hosting company PRQ, owned by two of the founders of The Pirate Bay, brought down numerous torrent sites earlier today. Whilst it didn't take out The PirateBay's site, it did take down several of their ancillary activities, as well as other BitTorrent sites hosted there.

    Update: Servers are now beginning to be restored.
    Update 2: MOst servers are now online. There might be some disruptions later on however, as the HVAC is not at full capacity yet.

  • anakata0, on 02/19/2008, -0/+0This was overheating, likely due to arcing inside the connector, and not a fire in the sense of open flames etc. As it's totally anaerobic, fire suppression can't do anything to stop it. It stopped by itself when the connectors and cable shorted out and the fuses blew, but not before it had destroyed eight separate cables (three per UPS and two smaller ones feeding the lights).
