- JesusWasMetro, on 02/16/2008, -0/+24Stop being so selfish.
They need the syrup to put out the fire. - omghax, on 02/16/2008, -1/+18RSS feed said a 'Tire' took down PRQ, not a 'Fire'. Made me laff. http://img176.imageshack.us/img176/3784/picture8fl ...
- mogebier, on 02/16/2008, -0/+16ZOMG!! Terrorists don't want me to download music!!!
- replaysMike, on 02/16/2008, -3/+18Now the RIAA is resorting to dirty fighting.
- Fordi, on 02/16/2008, -0/+11You seem quite aware.
- rmetzger, on 02/16/2008, -0/+11STH3 is down due to a serious electrical problem (one of the UPS feeds literally caught fire (!)). We're working on restoring everything, although there's no set ETA at the moment.
Update: Servers are now beginning to be restored.
Update 2: MOst servers are now online. There might be some disruptions later on however, as the HVAC is not at full capacity yet. - ShogunWarPig, on 02/16/2008, -1/+12First they cut the tubes, then they burn some servers. Its a war against the Internet!
- Yage2006, on 02/16/2008, -2/+11A fire huh?
How convenient I'm sure riaa mpaa had nothing to do with that at all :)
- santaliqueur, on 02/16/2008, -3/+9Enough with the ***** Scientology. Admit it, a few months ago, you didn't even give a ***** about it.
- roberto_deneero, on 02/17/2008, -0/+6Bush did it.
- arenas46, on 02/16/2008, -0/+6It's almost like the description reads that the fire was owned by 2 of the founders of the Pirate Bay
- 0crabby0, on 02/17/2008, -1/+5Oh noez, teh RIAA haz discovered Molotov cocktailz

- vonskippy, on 02/17/2008, -0/+3What type of a craptastic data center doesn't have fire suppression?
- D3koy, on 02/17/2008, -0/+3Fight Pirates with Fire?
- mutiger, on 02/16/2008, -2/+4i'm really sorry to hear of PRQ's troubles; they come highly recommended from credible sources, hope they have good insurance and are able to recover all the data.

- davidwasman, on 02/17/2008, -3/+5I would say something to the effect of 'Oh, no...THAT'S not a coincidence", but I would be preaching to the choir.
- kd1s, on 02/17/2008, -0/+2To my knowledge it also took out:
surfthechannel.com
vnes.com
They're both PRQ hosted. - UrlorJkron, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1At first I thought someone came in and shot up the place.
- Matri, on 02/18/2008, -0/+1The waffle is a lie!

- mogebier, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1Well hells bells, man!

Dangit!! - socomoddjob, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1plugging too many servers into one outlet causes fires.

- Eric.S.Smith, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1The first step to suppressing fire in a data centre is to kill all of the power.
- inactive, on 02/19/2008, -0/+1***** THE RIAA!
- MBHockey, on 02/17/2008, -0/+1Maybe you should learn the basic rules of reading. It would probably make everything you read less confusing.
- cliffski, on 02/17/2008, -1/+1grow up
- UniqPhoeniX, on 02/17/2008, -0/+0Didnt the fire kill it already? xD
- iXneonXi, on 02/17/2008, -1/+1lol conspiracies
- anakata0, on 02/19/2008, -0/+0This was overheating, likely due to arcing inside the connector, and not a fire in the sense of open flames etc. As it's totally anaerobic, fire suppression can't do anything to stop it. It stopped by itself when the connectors and cable shorted out and the fuses blew, but not before it had destroyed eight separate cables (three per UPS and two smaller ones feeding the lights).
