- mrurc, on 10/10/2007, -3/+19My favorite part is the comment that links to the wikipedia article that says that if you there is a "real fire emergency" to be sure to wear appropriate eye protection before using sand as an extinguisher. Cause you know, last time my laptop caught on fire in my office, my response was "Dear God, where are my safety goggles?"

- HarryManback, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13anyone else getting sick of the "Check out the ________ after the break."? Is that just dork for, "Scroll down"?
- mlostracco, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Also looks like a good way to get carpal tunnel syndrome. Who types on a laptop at that angle?!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Someone touches their screen WAY too much...
- dajuggernaut, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9what is this? the labor day weekend special?? a laptop that bbqs as well?
- Dan137exe, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7My eyes! The goggles do nothing!
- RexMaxus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Dang it man, I thought (though not much apparently) that would be relevant.
I was at work and almost had a heart attack... - coredump0x01, on 10/10/2007, -4/+9Video of this happening to a laptop: http://youtube.com/watch?v=WeWq6rWzChw
- 4getaboutit, on 10/10/2007, -5/+9Who needs vinyl flames on a pc when you can have the real thing..
- quomen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Digg me down, but this looks pretty fake.. What's that red thing on the tray? Why is the computer mounted like that instead of on the actual table (there is room). Also, if it was a battery fire then it wouldve orginated from the left side of the laptop, where the batteries are on all dell laptops. Nice try but totally set up.
- SnowBladerX, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7Looks like his pomegranate survived, so not all is lost.
- jamangold, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3"Pomegranate goes seriously polluted..."
- ccanni1028, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The flames came from where the battery is on the computer. It might have been a weak spot on the battery that caught fire, at the corner.
- Neilyos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I had my D600's (same model) battery recalled and Dell was very professional about it. Sure glad I took the time to do so :)
- neoform, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3That's exactly what I was thinking.. what a nutcase, grab a fire extinguisher and put it out before the building catches fire..
- robisfunky, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3 Exactly what key combination are you referring to?
- snarkleclackers, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Did this remind anyone else of that time Ramse taught us all how to blow up our laptops to hide the data from the police? Ah, The Broken, such great times...
- tonaros, on 11/14/2007, -1/+3That's the computer I'm using at work right now....
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Depending on how you read the blog, you have to click a link to get to the rest of the story, not just scroll down. But even then, it's gotten to be a lame phrase.
- crazybus24, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This really pisses me off. Every single time a dell laptop has caught fire it's on a desk...To my knowledge this has never happened on someones lap:(
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2you must be a lawyer haha
- brotherfranciz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That is a weird way of placing a laptop on a desk.
- meatmcguffin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2^ meatspin alert. NSFW unless you're working on a porn movie set.
- PleaseJustDie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2For those of you who don't speak Chinese and want to have a (albeit poor) translation...

Unless it can be proven that the battery in here was not covered by the highly publicized Sony battery recall that affected Dell, HP, and Apple... This story has no substance to it... its nothing new. This is not a new model, and in my opinion Sony's batteries exploding don't say anything negative about Dell's design.
- chedabob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1At least he won't have wrinkles.
- joker1972, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The new Dell laptops are so hot
- Aharoni, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Oh *****, I'm writing this comment on the exact same computer. *gulp*
Thank god I just bought a new computer... oh wait, thats a Dell too. *gulp* - skabyss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I always wondered how Japanese people communicate with those question marks...
No, I'm not serious. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Did someone not get the recall notice?
- mmockett, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I like how the blogger's key words are a chronological micro-story in themselves:
"battery, dell, explosion, fire, recall".
Nice. - sk8ordiemofo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Are you trying to be black?
- thedarkhaze, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3I think it's kinda odd that the guy has at work a whole onion and coffee...is he trying to get bad breathe?
- eradicator, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I totally thought this was going to be a rickroll, but it was actually what you said it was. Dugg
- shane1337, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3someone at dell has been watching hacking with ramzi

- pcp777, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's a pomegranate I think...
- iamafatguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"Taking Fire"?
That's kinda cool. - Double-Z, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Dell laptops are da bomb!
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1And then the next thought is: "Quick! Where's the office sand supply?"
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1C!
- Cherubim, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Nice photoshop job.
- BufordT, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2What the story doesn't say is "Another idiot fired for grabbing his camera instead of a fire extinguisher"
- GlennYaHeard, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Dell sucks
- astrotrain, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3People a Typing... Dells Explodn'... singing Hot! Hot! Hot!
