- mojaam, on 11/07/2007, -1/+158Yep, it's starting to feel like I finished the internet too.
- shad0walker, on 11/07/2007, -6/+150The only reason this is happening is because Japan is like 20 years ahead of the planet with technology. Now if you will excuse me I am going to steal a Japanese PDA and play UT3 at full settings.

Bukkake! - toxicityj, on 11/06/2007, -2/+85before this turns into a fanboy fight, they mean PCs in general. not Apple's definition of what a PC is. this includes windows, mac, and linux OS-running computer.
- inactive, on 11/06/2007, -0/+61Don't say anything!! I'm only halfway through.
- Checkerd, on 11/05/2007, -3/+46Spoiler: The Numa Numa guy gets goatse'd.
- scabbers, on 11/05/2007, -1/+39Oh the PC is dead/dying again is it? Yawn. Wake me up when it's about to really happen, and I'll stockpile enough to last until my bitter, cackling death.
- inactive, on 11/06/2007, -1/+39Did you know PC means personal computer? Not windows?
Crazy, I know. - JonTheGoose, on 11/05/2007, -1/+36Me too. The end boss was hard.
- tuxidomasx, on 11/05/2007, -2/+31but... looking at porn on a PDA or cell phone is just lame (and weird)
sure it may be convenient to beat one out in the bathroom on a train during a commute... but wouldnt the privacy of your home (or office) and a larger screen w/ larger pixels outweigh the advantages of "portable pr0n" - opnickc, on 11/07/2007, -0/+28not upgrading as often != not using
PC sales may be slowing, but let's face it; you don't need a top of the line system just to get stuff done these days.
IMO, PCs aren't going anywhere for a simple reason - the keyboard. Nobody has typewriters anymore - they've been replaced by the computer. Game consoles may replace the need to game on a PC, smartphones and other devices may let people browse the web, but when it comes to writing up a Resume or that report for school, nothing is going to beat that full-sized PC keyboard. - GordonV, on 11/05/2007, -1/+23This is a nice idea, but small devices cannot handle the numerous robust functions a PC can. That and the fact that most companies don't make a backup feature for their small devices.
- tuxidomasx, on 11/05/2007, -0/+21not as long as they keep making graphics cards and PC games
and not until i can download and watch the newest episode of House on a PDA with a 42 inch screen
and not until i find a way to "engage" my porn using my cell phone. that little screen just doesnt do it for me.
it has been scientifically formulated by science that large tittays require larger screens to be fully "appreciated" - chad78, on 11/07/2007, -1/+22Here are the real Internet spoilers....
Darth Vader is that whiny kid from the prequels, who turns out to be Luke *AND* C3PO's dad
LonelyGirl15 is fake
We really do need to leave Britney alone - she's nasty, you'll catch something if you stand too close
The Internet is now for Facebook, not porn - despite what singing and dancing WOW characters on YouTube would have you to believe
Ads are everywhere, even if you don't see them because you use Firefox
There is always something new, hip, trendy, and overpriced that's about to come out in a few months. Some real, some imagined. But none of them, not even the iPhone, will change your life, make you happy for any extended period of time, solve world hunger, get you a serious relationship, make you a billion dollars, or change the size of any of your various body parts.
Dogs do stupid things - usually because people make them do stupid things - like ride skateboards.
Cats do stupid things - but they aren't nearly as funny or cute as the people who misspell captions for them would have you to believe.
The expected response to O RLY is YA RLY followed by NO WAI. The proper response, however, is to ignore that statement and move on.

It wasn't funny the first time someone typed it that way in the 80s - it isn't funny now - You are not upsetting Bill Gates or sticking it to the man when you do this. You are only making yourself look like a fool.)

Not everything on a blog is blogspam.
Not everything on a blog matters
the Internet is still a new thing - but it's getting pretty set in its ways already
OpenSocial > Facebook > myspace
You can easily find an entire community of people that believe what you believe, like what you like, eat what you eat, listen to what you listen to, buy what you buy, etc. - just realize that there are hundreds or thousands or millions of other communities with people who are just as smart, friendly, creative, and helpful - that believe, like, eat the exact opposite, and will cuss you out for disagreeing - just like you'll cuss them out for being wrong. (See the above statified companies / websites / products for examples - people will digg me down, cuss me out, and otherwise insult me becuase I got one "wrong" or all of them wrong or whatever - ignoring the rest of this comment)
Wikipedia kicks ass - especially when you want to find out who guest starred in that episode of Different Strokes where Arnold lied to his dad about that thing he did, but ended up getting caught. You know, where they figured it all out by the end... and he made that funny face after he said "Wha'chu talkin 'bout Willis?" Man, that was funny.
All your base are belong to us
Fat kids doing nerdy things in front of a camera - especially when it involves music, sound effects made with the kids own mouth, and/or fast movements (as fast as a fat kid can go anyway) make for good video - everyone likes to laugh at fat kids - and "kids" can be a guy as old as 40, as long as he still lives with his mom
Chocolate Rain is not really funny - I'm still trying to figure out what it is supposed to mean. I think he's complaining that not everyone is black. Really, I think he's racist.

Most four letter words are bad words, among these are RIAA, MPAA, and DRM, (hey, if ass can be a four letter word, why not DRM)
Apparently, it seems that George W Bush is too stupid to string English words together, but smart enough to plan and execute 9/11 and fool the entire country, and dozens of other countries, into invading a country for oil, despite the fact that the price of oil, and the price of gasoline has pretty much tripled since *the COALITION of nations - not just the US* invaded Iraq. He must be some kind of evil idiot savant or something.
Operating systems does matter. Use Google Apps, and other online tools, and you can pretty much spend all day working on a computer, writing reports, making presentations, editing video, cropping images, building websites, listening to music, watching TV, talking to your friends, planning your Friday night out, etc - and never once leave your browser to do so.
Everyone on the internet is incredibly smart. Just ask them. They'll tell you.
Everyone on the internet is a complete idiot. Just look at what they do. They'll show you.
I am on the Internet. I am incredibly smart.
I really wish Flickr had been bought by Google instead of Yahoo. - that's not a spoiler, just an opinion. Heck, most of this has turned into that. I'm gonna copy and paste it into my blog.
If someone says something incredibly insightful, perfectly suited for the conversation and situation it is in, and it makes you feel like there is hope for humanity once again because of the profound wisdom this person has just shared with you, one of the following has happened:
- a) he copied it from WikiQuote or some guy's email signature
- b) you're stoned, sleep it off and get some help
- c) you didn't get that he was being sarcastic
- d) you completely misunderstood what just happened
- e) you now have 7 days to live, for the love of all that is good and holy, please turn the computer off and go spend time with your family - preferably outside - before it is too late
- f) you just met the Real Fake Steve Jobs
- g) All / some of the above, but most likely e
Most of the time, people are sarcastic
People lie on the Internet - a lot - about pretty much everything - but there's still good in them, I can feel it.

Internet = A series of tubes
The millionth visitor to a website gets ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for going there, other than the content of the website.
You cannot win a free iPod
You cannot win ANYTHING by clicking the rubber ducky, the mouse with the cheese, the "FIGHT" button faster than your automated opponent, or the right answer to the question "Whose lips are these?" (btw - it's always Angelina Jolie)

Okay, after spending all this time sharing my heartfelt personal nostagicalical feelings and insights with you, I have one simple question. i Can Haz Cheezburger Now? kthxbye - LANjackal, on 11/05/2007, -0/+21Ummm the PC has never been as big in Japanese culture as it is in American culture. This news story is no surprise at all.
- winmywii, on 11/05/2007, -2/+21My computer barely runs UT3 at low settings.
- synthox, on 11/05/2007, -2/+21Read the article before you make embarrassing statements.
- Murdats, on 11/05/2007, -0/+16leave him alone, he only just started.
- MaTT2011, on 11/05/2007, -2/+18Ummmm, so PC's are declining in popularity because other devices can do more and more of the useless consumer related activities (like pictures, music, watching stuff and etc...) that PC's can also do?
Thats funny cause i dont see any other devices providing the kind of access to information that a pc can nor do i see any other device being the vital and amazing educational machine that is the PC.
When it comes to pointless, un-productive and idiot related activities like sending text messages and other consumer foolishness yah, maybe the PC is a little behind the ball and will continue to be. But when it comes to being a tool for production, creation, education and the sharing of information nothing can hold a candle to the modern PC. - Jeffler, on 11/07/2007, -2/+16Speak for yourself...my Japanese PDA does 2160p, because 1080 wasn't enough. ;)

- Branchex, on 11/05/2007, -0/+12Disadvantages of replacement devices:
smart phones that act like pocket-size computers: limited power and screen size, nothing to beats a full sized keyboard & mouse
advanced Internet-connected game consoles: Console maker controls software available
digital video recorders with terabytes of memory: cant edit content beyond basic tools - ZenMojo, on 11/05/2007, -1/+12Correction. Touch-sensitive screen and 640 x 480.

popular =! good
And, really, frontpage =! popular
- just popular "Enough" - Murdats, on 11/07/2007, -1/+10there are 1.5Tb ipods now?
- Abno, on 11/05/2007, -1/+9"By Ron Paul on an Athiest iPhone"
There is an internet outside Digg too, you know. - inactive, on 11/05/2007, -0/+8I also laugh at people who buy music on their phones when they could have bought the same song drm free for half the price off Walmart or Amazon.com or other music site or even gasp rip a CD and put it on their phone too as every music phone I seen will play mp3s.
Also on the PC or mac you can back up the songs you buy no such luck on a phone unless you have guess what a computer. - Proteus1935, on 11/05/2007, -0/+8I`m an Electronic Engineer, and frankly all I see is the PC getting RENAMED...
"The does everything your old PC did... it has the same architecture , can be upgraded, it can even run linux! "
This is an extremely funny statement for a computer architect... Fellas there is a HUGE difference between "The Desktop" and the Personal Computer ARCHITECTURE... - winmywii, on 11/05/2007, -0/+8I cannot browse on a phone. How can you read the screen? it's too small. I tried to use the iPhone but my fingers are to big to type on the screen.
- BugMeNot2, on 11/05/2007, -0/+8What the *****.
- h4mx0r, on 11/05/2007, -1/+8A computer that ejaculates on you as you get bored, to keep things... spunky...
- greatblackowl, on 11/06/2007, -0/+7I don't know, but it seems like substituting my computer with a Hi-def TV, an internet- ready PDA, and a game console seems a bit silly. I like having JUST a laptop.
- theuniversal, on 11/05/2007, -2/+8Japan is ahead in some technology, but in other ways it is behind. The use of computers at home and in education, for example, lags way behind the USA. And in general, people in the US are more sophisticated users. That’s why PC growth is stalled here.
If you think about where the world is going, the PC is getting more important not less. Sure, people will do a lot more with mobile devices in the coming years too, but they'll still need new PC technology. That goes for Japan as much as anywhere else. The IDC analyst will be eating his words in 10 years. - PC101, on 11/05/2007, -0/+6Bah!! This is only cuz flat screens are the new "something shiny" for people to play with. The PC is here to stay! How else are people going to research that term paper, figure out how to cook a pot roast and engage in... umm... " entertainment" ..... *wink..wink..nudge..nudge* .... without their good ol' PC! } ; )
- thepatster, on 11/07/2007, -0/+6Try 8 to 20 times faster internet
- PC101, on 11/05/2007, -0/+5I say again, size matters! : )
- Jarasmen, on 11/05/2007, -0/+5Yeah, I already see rockin' on that keyboard, trying to read those characters on a tiny screen. Typing on those is like friggin gynaecology.
- Dumbledorito, on 11/05/2007, -1/+6As long as your genitals are attached, pr0n will always be portable.
- winmywii, on 11/05/2007, -0/+5on the train?
- grimward, on 11/05/2007, -0/+5What everybody is is neglecting is the country this is happening in. It's JAPAN, the country where size does matter more than anything! were a computer is considered a huge part of an otherwise small apartment! Also, take into account as somebody said that japanese spent alot of time working, and alot of time commuting, which means that a product such as a smart phone will own a computer every time, because you can't have a lappy with you on a japanese train!
I fully understand the point of the article, and that's that for the common japanese, the computer's specialized functions are getting replaced with various smart devices that perform the same thing, but in a mobile way! However, that still doesn't mean that the japanese won't buy a new computer when they need to, it just means they'll buy it *less often* - dgh1973, on 11/05/2007, -0/+5People don't need to upgrade their PC's like mad dogs anymore, it's not like it was in the 90's (or even say 5 years ago). You get yourself a 2GHz dual core system with a gig or two of RAM and you're set these days. A two or three year old state-of-the-art PC is just as good as a brand new one in terms of CPU power today. The only "benefit" would be that you can now have Vista... and we've all heard the stories about how great that can be (/sarcasm).
- ChileanGoD, on 11/05/2007, -0/+5Don't get stuck in the tubes.
- alterImperson, on 11/05/2007, -2/+7The PC will never die. Just our current perception of it. Things like game consoles and the such, with a simple interface and easy to use features are going to be the future of computing. A wireless keyboard and a Wiimote ate basically all a person really needs as far as input to get anything done on a computer. I think the era of the "desktop" is over, but people will never live without computers again.
- D3koy, on 11/05/2007, -0/+5That is just silly, how are you going to play Crysis on a laptop? That game will melt most PCs
- Fizban140, on 11/05/2007, -9/+14They aren't that far ahead of us in technology, oh and have fun playing UT3 with a stylus and a 320 x 240 resolution.
- blapierre, on 11/06/2007, -8/+12You need to get a new hard drive for your PC if it's as small as an iPod's.
- inactive, on 11/05/2007, -1/+5 I don't like small devices..Too easy to loose,too easy to be stolen.
- kinerry, on 11/05/2007, -5/+9Sorry, but only macs do tentacle rape
