- weizilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+46i love myspace for it's uncanny ability to crash firefox, freeze my computer and make me want to carve my eyes out with a blunt object
- loconet, on 10/12/2007, -4/+47What's new is that this is the first time in years I'm guessing the majority of people with a clue will agree with PC World.
- bairy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+38Irony is: PC World's website criticizing other websites... yeah ok
Anyway, all in one: http://www.pcworld.com/printable/article/id,127116/printable.html - pinkgreenblue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29In the new age of browser stability, maybe MySpace will become the new Acid2 test.
- Vinthian, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29myspace sucks.. people dunno how to use css, and myspace won't make a simplier way to use SOMEWHAT correct css. it just lags the hell out of most computers.
- stormgren, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28You will get dugg down for two reasons.
First, this is one thing (almost) everyone on digg agrees about... myspace pretty much DOES suck. A lot.
And second, you're spamming. - pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Then I'm sure PC World will call you with your prize any moment now.
- pegothejerk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Kinda like how crack is one of the worst drugs, and one of the most popular. it's ugly, yellow (okay, blue and white), and waaay to many kids have their hands on it. oh, and the manufacturers don't give a damn about the quality or the outcome of it's use.
- ryland2, on 10/12/2007, -13/+27@ Jacnet
Buried your comment as dupe, hundreds of others have said that - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I look to PC World for all of my technology information, especially their thoughts on websites.
Oh wait, no I don't. - Xyntar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15The great thing about MySpace is you can go there and have flashbacks of what most of the web looked like in the mid-late 90s.
- neilo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Amusing article, but not surprising to anyone with at least two brain cells to rub together.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19Wow, let's all start crying because everyone in the whole world has already seen this before and they will all die if they see it again, because we love Myspace so much and we would rip our eyes out of our head if anyone ever even began to think otherwise. Wait...no...I have a better idea. Let's consider the fact that there are some people who haven't seen this before. And maybe, just maybe, we could try respecting other people's opinions before we start to rant about how the story may have been submitted, let's say, a few months or years ago. Yea, perhaps if we try that, we wouldn't have our comments buried so much all the time. Perhaps if we did that, people would not recognize us for our complaints, and recognize us for our good comments instead.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I don't disagree with the assertions that the author of the article makes about myspace, but I hardly think this makes the site the "dumbest" and "silliest" dotcom.
Actually, I think that myspace may be one of the "smartest" and "most innovative" websites in years, as is evident by its popularity and subsequent profitability. In fact, the site may have become too popular too fast, and therefore the proper security and usability considerations were not made. - pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10and digg.com actually creates a time vortex saving you time.
- ashura001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8In other news, water is wet.
- SuperJason, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Did you mean to reply to "baraqiyal"? That comment is really confusing out of context.
- delta013, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You're right. You deserve a cookie.
- JacNet, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7BUT DIDN'T YOU HEAR THAT CAPITALS ARE "THE COOL THING" THESE DAYS?
- pronouncable, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://xkcd.com/c146.html
- Shens, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6agreed, I HATE myspace, I hate how I was peer pressured into making a page, I hate how Im almost obligated to go to it otherwise people are thinking Im ignoring them, I hate being subjected to other peoples egos... tom can suck my balls
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7I usually hate the people that come into the comments section of a story just to point out that something isn't news, but seriously. This is *not* news :)
- Junkey, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8In my book any site you can stalk women is the BEST SITE!
- RandomSkratch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Except this one would actually cause horrible flashbacks.....*shudder*..
- orbit1979, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Graphically, many MySpace pages look like a teenager's bedroom after a tornado--a swirl of clashing backgrounds, boxes stacked inside other boxes, massive photos, and sonic disturbance."
Maybe that's because many MySpace pages are set up by teenagers? The photos are uploaded by the users. I do not use MySpace, but I think PC World was going out on a limb to "find" ***** wrong with MySpace while not reviewing it for what is really is or really meant to be. - Xyntar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Because most popular != good. McDonalds probably has the most popular burger, but it's still a ***** burger.
- JonAce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Opinions, opinions, opinions...
- inactive, on 02/20/2009, -0/+5Myspace is the cattle pen for internet stupidity. Don't open the gates, please. We put those people behind poorly designed barbwire for a reason.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5METACAFE? They are killing the internet with their crap. Why on earth they make videos of EVERYTHING, even simple instructions on how to do somehting (something that would be much clearer as a 6 sentence text page rather than a 5 minute video) is beyond me.
- KlayBorg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://www.istanbul.tc/mahir/mahir/
This person looks like borats influence. - EmmSee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I use MySpace everyday and I agree. Worst website ever. They are just swimming in the money, still running their site on a couple of 486DX computers.
- internetworld7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Agreed. Myspace sucks. It's awful. I find sites like metacafe and liveleak much more useful and intuitive.
- GraceMolloy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+10Oh, how to put this delicately ... Um, Duh?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7maybe the other 24 websites in the Top.
- aegion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4But you have to look at the main demographics of those 90 million people. High school kids, pedophiles, etc.
- SystmBetatester, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5stop being ignorant, myspace sucks ass. reminds me of early 90's anglefire websites. looks like crap. step backwards for the internet.
- dezmd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3myspace is the new BLINK tag of the web.
- grimman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6@ Jacnet: It takes more time for you to whine about it than to just close the tab and stfu, AND it annoys people. Can't you just do us all a favour and go away?
- ajchavar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i dug you down because i realized you referred to myspace users as "spacers."
not to mention that you think this was somehow intended to influence said users, or to change them. - ArthurSucks, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6"DAM WHY U GUYS HATE MYSPACE .. ***** GEEKS SCARED 2 SHOW YOUR FACES LOL ..SO NO 1 SHOWS U LOVE ON MYSPACE SO THER U GO BASHING IT ...GIVE IT UP MAN ..IT AINT 1# BY FAR"
It's like noob poetry. - benijuana, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5i've been saying this for years!
- skellener, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Duh.
- aegion, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Does it really connect people?
If anything myspace increases social isolation. It gives the illusion of keeping in touch, but exchanging myspace comments is a very distant form of communication and social interaction is minimal.
Because of myspace people are less likely to keep in touch with others through phone calls or visits, but instead are content to leave goofy comments for each other every so often. How is this helping "connect" people? - Toast1185, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I like myspace. Before I found out about it, I would have to go to the internet archive to see bad coding and horrible page layouts. Now it is so readily available and in such an abundance! Embedded music, graphical backgrounds with text in the foreground to match my epilepsy can hardly contain itself!
- thescimitar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's a balance between value and cost. McDonald's burgers are not the best burgers in town. I doubt you'd find many people saying, "Oh yeah, a double cheeseburger at Mickey D's totally pwns a Grade A Angus burger at a decent restaurant!" McDonald's burgers are popular not because they're good, but because they're "good enough." You get something that has some sort of flavor for ridiculously low prices. It's the Walmart complex. MySpace taps into the same phenomenon. With very little effort, you can be involved in a gigantic community that, chances are, will have most of your friends and people on the same mindset on it if you're in the demographic that associates MySpace with something you'd like to do every waking minute of your life.
- moopinator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Because people love to watch a train wreck.
- Kyle660, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't know. Goatse is more visually appealing than most of the tiled glittering fairy gif backgrounds otherwise respectable people put up.
- filmbandit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3
Sorry! an unexpected error has occurred.
This error has been forwarded to MySpace's technical group.
(my question is: how can you get paid $600,000,000 and not choose to overhaul your poopy interface?) - Xyntar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So how many times are you going to post that?
