- moogleboi, on 09/10/2008, -3/+83It seems the government has lost it's way...
It's DISGUSTING the way the police are handling this case - "massive piracy scam" < It was never a scam, it wasn't an attempt to make money and donating was purely optional, though the police seem to believe it was to ensure "continued access to the site".
I mean WHAT THE *****.
What's even more disgusting is the continued false claims of copyright infringement that are directly associated with trackers. They really need to get their facts right.
To top things off, they're backing two companies that have a lot of money to throw around... - rtaibah, on 05/22/2009, -5/+37Sad day...Wish the LHC went awry

- inactive, on 09/11/2008, -0/+12Actually it was the IFPI and the BPI in this case, not the RIAA.
Oh, and ***** THE RIAA. - RTaynn, on 09/10/2008, -4/+15"...OiNK was a money machine." How? WTF is that? Digg this story and show the world that people won't just swallow BS.

- Ainvar, on 09/11/2008, -1/+7There is no seperation between goverment (any country) and corporation. It is a sad day when they can throw any charge at someone at make it stick cause one or more corporations has money to throw around.
I hope Alan prevails and the judge throws it out and makes those corporate weasels pay the tab. - ComputerNap, on 09/11/2008, -1/+6Best of luck to you, Alan. No matter what happens, I'll never forget OiNK, the best place to get music on the 'net.

- mydjtl, on 09/10/2008, -1/+5Lets make a case against The Dutch and British law enforcement!! Im sure somehow they must have broken some kind of law in order to get all the information they obtained on the uploaders and admins!

- seraph582, on 09/10/2008, -3/+6Hopefully justice will prevail.
The first thing I thought of when I read this headline was Joe Biden :( - mCanada, on 09/11/2008, -1/+4It's a long rant, but not a word of a lie.
- babaganush, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3I almost cried the day Oink went down. It's private trackers like Oink that make music more fun. The forums were an amazing place to discuss and share opinions on music. Most of Oinks user base were music fanatics which created some great discussion. I was exposed to so many new types of music/bands while I was a part of Oink. I wish I could have the same experience again :-(
The fact that they are charging some uploaders for one cd is an obvious scare tactic. Big Bad RIAA wants to show you that even one cd is a crime! - xlent, on 09/11/2008, -0/+3i only go for salmon
- xlent, on 09/11/2008, -1/+4if torrent freak is going to be the news outlets that consistantly post p2p underbelly news then yes yes it will.
- kirado4, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2Sharing is caring..

A thief am I. But every time I think about buying something from the Amazon store or signing up for emusic a story like this gets my attention. I couldn't tell you how much music I've downloaded only out of spite. - banmeagaindigg, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2.cd

Secrets....sshhhh
First rule of the oinK club is.... - inactive, on 09/12/2008, -0/+1Its pretty obvious that the police are getting paid off heftily by the IFPI to do all of this, in any other case, they wouln't have touched thi case with a 40 foot pole(which incidentally I wouldn't touch my ex-gf with either)
- boneit, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1RIAA is American. It'll be the BPI in the UK.
Obligatory: ***** the BPI! - allengeer, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1god dammit. bring back OiNK.
Must. Upload. To. Get. Ratio. Higher. - thorak, on 09/11/2008, -2/+3if only there was a replacement for what was OiNK :(
