- nitriletiger, on 10/11/2007, -7/+43Opening their API to the public let some missing features come to fruition (audio and video), however most of the new applications just add clutter and are pretty useless.
- ronaldinho, on 10/11/2007, -1/+26sweet, didn't really like iLike
- eean, on 10/11/2007, -1/+23It does have a quilt...
- Godlesswanderer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22True. It's hard getting all the apps you want but still keeping the page compact.
By the way, here's the url for the app for all the lazy people.
http://www.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=2381079642 - mxcl, on 11/14/2007, -1/+14I believe our developers will add such options within a few weeks.
- insertnamehere, on 10/11/2007, -4/+17all they need now is a feature to find people on facebook with similar musical tastes/incorporate the compatibility meter into the app
- Rekzai, on 10/11/2007, -6/+19meh, I would say this Last.Fm app is much better http://hs.facebook.com/apps/application.php?id=2371452733
Very nice and simple. - osfn8, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12We don't want to listen to your music. We want to listen to our own. Go back to Myspace.
- McTendo, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16Thanks for the link! I needed something to bury.
- killerofkiller, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12that is what last.fm does
- DoTheFandango, on 10/11/2007, -4/+14I like the unofficial one better.
- eean, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10The app already does this, for friends who have the app installed. Compatibility changes show up on your feed.
- goldliop, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9welll, iLike is fun for the little game, but last.fm is king.
- hindinburg, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8i like the quilt format...however it'd be nice if they displayed the artist underneath the pic. prolly the best app. on facebook so far.
- mercurysquad, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I think they should have two (or more) tabs on each profile. One the default no-apps profile page, and a 2nd "Apps" page with all sorts of apps that the user wishes to add.
- thelastcivilian, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Agreed. The ability to have a non-Flash version that blended into the profile was ideal. Perhaps they can work on this. The limited colours they offer in the Flash version don't even match Facebook's colours - no white bg??
- benadamson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Still waiting for Flickr.....
- smackhero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4well, that's why they're optional. you can pick and choose which apps to include on your homepage. just because you have the option to add tons of apps doesn't mean you should. i don't really see the drawback. iGoogle can get pretty cluttered too if you add too many widgets.
i think the open API is great and allows people to enrich their facebook experience and greatly enhances the service. also, since the platform is open to anyone, if you don't like the setup of a particular service's facebook app, you can design your own to suit your taste. a good example is the unofficial last.fm facebook application which some might prefer over the official one. - smackhero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3is that like facebook for hicks?
to get back on topic...
this news is absolutely awesome--two of my favorite web 2.0 apps/services being combined, adding to facebook the music component it'd been missing.
facebook + last.fm > myspace - amprancid, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Here is the one I use. Unofficial, but really good as far as features. In the end, it satisfies your needs and remains simplistic.
http://apps.facebook.com/myflickr/ - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2shame that last.fm is going to be destroyed by its new owners because independent musicians might be getting a break.
- DomZy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3The unofficial one is much better, nobody wants flash on their facebook profile
- DivisibleByZero, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Pandora needs to hurry up and make an app.
- Kazanoe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Someone already called it a dupe, man, your too late.
Your a dupe-calling duper. How does THAT feel? - ronaldinho, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Yeah this is it, and I like it that people can choose to listen to your music only if they want to. I hated MySpace because I'm playing music and the site I go to always threaten to drown it out.
- emadsenus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3What I don't understand is the absence of my playlist history, scrobbled from iTunes or similar. That information seems just as relevant (if not more) as a radio station based on the music listed in my profile.
- nerogtr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2i'd rather have just a simple "top artist" list, or the ability to just make a custom chart like you are able to do on the last.fm site. the rest is bulk to me.
- GuyHitByTruck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2So all those rumors about Facebook Music.. the thing to compete with Myspace. Was this it?
- phantom_mullet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'm glad Facebook (at least for the time being) has opened up their platform to allow developers. Kudos to them as well for seeming to set visual standards for their applications. Let's just hope things don't get out of control :).
- msodrew, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Is it just me or does Steve O'Hear (the blogger via link) look like he'd eat you?
- IVIrMP3, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Damn it, yamipod didn't scrobble two weeks of music off my ipod because of the new iTunes version.
- jake86, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Huh cool, I've been using Last.fm for a while now, and this is a good payoff.
Plus, I'm finding myself using Myspace less and less...
Last.fm is just so simple and easy. - tetsura, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1after waitin for this im pretty disappointed, i just wanted to have my recently played tracks shown, not a radio station..
il just stick to the unofficial one i think. - d3athcarb4fatty, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1this one is the best so far:
http://apps.facebook.com/lastfm-all/index.php
you can choose which charts you want to show, which is really all that matters. If you want the radio you can add the official one to the sidebar, but who wants to listen to your radio anyway? - DrSpaghetti, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Will it be shut down July 15th when the RIAA kills internet radio?
- aaronm67, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The Facebook API is excellent in my opinion. They did a very good job of adding some functionality, while keeping it impossible to tell who visited or how many times your profile has been viewed.
- slapthemonkey, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1iLike is nice but last.fm is the best.
- m98076, on 01/28/2008, -0/+0Definitely very interesting
http://websuduko.blogspot.com/ - rodneyray, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I like the flash and I like the radio. I think actually hearing a song played by a band I've never heard is much more revealing than just knowing some shmoe in my friend list listened to it ten times a day for the past week.
- ravencin, on 12/26/2007, -0/+0yeah but now last.fm isn't with facebook http://facebooknfo.com
- Takuro, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4"There are still a few kinks Facebook and the makers of Last.fm Music are trying to iron out. We appreciate your patience as we try to fix these issues. Your problem has been logged - if it persists, please come back in a few days. Thanks!"
Oh joy... - Popdmb, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1and don't come back.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2lookin for these guys to make it on
http://www.seeqpod.com - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1I think digg has users that rotate every other day, tahts the only reason i can think of on how the same stories keep reappearing.
- whyteeford, on 10/11/2007, -9/+4Huzzah!
- Takuro, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1Wait, I got it to work after a few tries. I now have this error:
"Sorry, we couldn’t find any artists in your favourite music section. Why not add some?"
Of course I have about 15 groups listed in my music section, so.... go figure. - mercurysquad, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1absolutely :-/ ........
- Hemingrubbish, on 10/11/2007, -10/+1dupe
- xXShadowstormXx, on 10/11/2007, -17/+7I'd much rather prefer a quilt (not text) showing of the music I listen to on my Facebook profile, not a radiostation based on my tastes.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -14/+3This was good to read the first 8 times it was submitted.
