- mikesbaker, on 11/06/2008, -1/+29If social networking could win you the presidency Ron Paul would be president right now.
- bixby1, on 11/05/2008, -3/+29Looks like the MySpace teens didn't wanna' friend grandpa McCain
- rawnzilla, on 11/06/2008, -0/+14Trendrr? ***** these Web 2.0 names. What's next, a porno website named Intrcors?
- PitbullRaven, on 11/06/2008, -3/+15He won 60 - 40 and you'd expect that to be a reflection of a social site's tendency. But here on digg it was more like 95 - 5. Any story that was pro-McCain was immediately dugg down and all bad news regarding Obama was obliterated. Anyone that uttered a word in support of McCain was all but shot dead. I saw this happen on many a thread. This leads me to believe that social media was "manipulated". I say this although I did want Obama to win: global media once again shaped global minds and I am pretty sure the media was manipulated, and hence we conclude, so were the results of these elections.
But hey... Whetever... Obama won! - GeekdocCorning, on 11/05/2008, -3/+11I hope that Obama will keep using this social network he's built to speak directly to his supporters. I would love to be able to judge policies and initiatives unspun and unmangled by the media. It is really the only way to get a message out directly to the people. Need volunteers in a certain area of the country? Ask us directly. Many of us don't watch the news and rely on non-mainstream social news outlets.
- MadKennyP, on 11/06/2008, -3/+10Actually, 98% of educated, informed Americans were in the tank for President-Elect Barack Obama.
- Oranqe, on 11/06/2008, -1/+7Sheesh, where have you been this entire election?
Fox and CNN wouldn't leave Obama alone until Palin arrived.
Everything from not being black enough to a terrorist, seriously go ***** yourself.
This election was won by the public, not the media. - djgargamel, on 11/06/2008, -3/+9The internet...***** Yeah!
- PabloMac, on 11/06/2008, -0/+6Social networks are designed for two-way communication. Obama needs to listen, also.
- DanBoodro, on 11/06/2008, -0/+5STOP ***** SPAMMING!
- AndrewMB, on 11/06/2008, -0/+5So much Obama posts, we elected him for four years and already I'm getting tired about hearing about him. Save Obama posts for the good news ahead (if there is any).
- jmattiza40, on 11/06/2008, -0/+5Absolutely brilliant from any angle you look at it. No matter political choice, looking at the methods used in this campaign shows the ultimate example of, the power of social media. It clearly demonstrates mindset in community that people want to be talked to, shared with and allowed to participate with those whom the associate with.
- Phocion55, on 11/06/2008, -2/+6Pro-McCain articles we're really "dugg down" all that much. Quite the contrary.
A handful pro-McCain submissions I saw with 400+ diggs and 200+ comments just mysteriously never made it to any front page.
But whatever....the silver lining here is that HOPEFULLY since the election is now over, we can all forget that HuffPo ever existed. - PabloMac, on 11/06/2008, -0/+4Not without MSM support also.
- as566, on 11/06/2008, -0/+4Don't forget that 80% of all myspace accounts are now bots... Maybe Obama's myspace-manager just wasn't as curious about whom he was selecting?
- deathsythe, on 11/06/2008, -1/+5Evidently not.
- scoottie, on 11/06/2008, -7/+10social(ist) media
- twiztidsinz, on 11/06/2008, -0/+3"Lawyers for the Republican National Committee are heading to Alaska to try to account for all the money that was spent on clothing, jewelry and luggage, according to The New York Times."
Maybe she kept it all in a SLUSH fund....
I wonder if they'll FREEZE her assets.... - berational, on 11/06/2008, -1/+4Really, you are still bitter. Let your wounds heal...
Look at this article on the woman you would have let be vice president and tell me you are still wishing for a McCain/Palin administration.

Even Faux news (Very Liberal media right /s) is reporting what a train wreck she is. - cleverboy, on 11/06/2008, -0/+2Had Ron Paul gotten the nomination, his social media WOULD have had a bearing. As it was, he was a strong presence because of it (and the money he was able to use it to raise). For some reason, even though he was the MOST representative of conservative values, he wasn't able to garner a following on the ground and in the various districts around the country. Part of that has more to do with the candidate, and his ability... not social media.
- homercles337, on 11/06/2008, -1/+3I have only ever dugg down McCain articles that were inaccurate, slander, attack posts. Cant say that i saw many (any?) that were not in at least one of these groups.
- Anonchrist, on 11/06/2008, -0/+2I am officially done digging Obama stories until he is President and/or making actually decisions that affect me.
I am glad he won and proud of America for voting him into office. He told us exactly what we wanted to hear in a time that we thought politicians were to far removed to even know what we wanted to hear, but this is getting draining. Once he becomes president you can let us know if he is running with his vision of America or ruining it.
We will still be here to sing praise or rain scorn when the time comes, so can people please stop all of the non-stories? - oldhick, on 11/06/2008, -0/+2That was his point.
- eviltandem, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1Wrong demographic. Conservatives tend to be... conservative. They dominate radio and TV for the most part. Ron Paul was just after a demographic that doesn't use the Internet as much.
Just look at "liberal" digg. There are many more liberals here than conservatives.
A Republican cannot get anywhere without MSM because that's what their base uses. - DVmaker, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1Misleading - I doubt Joe the plumber has a myspace or twitter account.
- bsmang, on 11/07/2008, -1/+2Your digg count would seem to indicate that you're full of *****. Sure, some in the media are liberal, but I think at least as many are not. If it weren't for the media pulling for McCain and keeping him in the race, the landslide would have been even much larger.
- acaloiar, on 11/06/2008, -3/+4All in direct correlation to McCain's pre-historic understanding of technology.
- urbandistrict, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1and 73% of statistics from people posting rhetoric on the internet is made-up on the spot.
- swellbell, on 11/06/2008, -2/+3It shows that Obama is able to adapt to current technology and trends. Good thing we are going to have him in the white house!
- Oranqe, on 11/06/2008, -2/+3In the words of Keith:
"It doesn't matter! You don't matter anymore!!"
Seriously if after this entire election you still don't get it, you never will.
So, how about this. Obviously Republicans ***** up this country, lets see if Obama makes it better or worse. - eviltandem, on 11/06/2008, -1/+2Weird isn't it?
Almost like it's a new world with new technologies and new goals. I hardly fault Obama for McCain being out of touch. - phroztbyt3, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1i was just about to say that. it definitely was not just about myspace and the likes. frankly I forgot I friended obama on facebook like 4 months back.
- xenuxenuts, on 11/06/2008, -1/+2When someone says "educated Americans" I think most people mean people who went to college, not just completed high school.
- evilregis, on 11/06/2008, -1/+2When your rallies look like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJQVlVHsFF8
Then you know you're doing something right. - Anonchrist, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1He's for big business. Good. That means that he is not a socialist.
- inactive, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1me too
- raceit, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1You're four and eight years late with that comment.
- PitbullRaven, on 11/06/2008, -1/+1I actually lol'd at that comment!
- jonshipman, on 11/06/2008, -2/+2All we need now is Obama submitting stories to Digg before they happen!
"President Obama to convene with U.N. with peace talks"
"President Obama vetoes this bill that's sitting right in front of him"
"Check out this sweet pick of me...I mean Prez Obama on AF1" - inactive, on 11/06/2008, -4/+4Obomber won 52% to 46%, not a historic difference.
- mikezane, on 11/06/2008, -0/+0Whats up with the drop for Obama right at the beginning of the graph? It rose quickly and fell to 0. Not that I am crying conspiracy theory or anything i am just curious.
- plussignpro, on 11/06/2008, -0/+0Has campaign had excellent marketing from which many bloggers and writers can learn. There's a free marketing online course for writers and bloggers.
http://www.plussignproductions.org/2008/10/free-cl ... - Verchiel77, on 11/09/2008, -1/+1And maybe your side's policy positions were garbage and soundly rejected by the majority of Americans.
Just a thought. - jason210, on 11/06/2008, -1/+1I don;t understand how people don;t get whats really going on. Both of the political parties are failures.
- mikesbaker, on 11/07/2008, -1/+1thanks for acting like you didn't know what I was talking about jackass
- eviltandem, on 11/06/2008, -1/+1That's like complaining that talk radio and television is dominated by conservatives.
Liberals use the web, and conservatives still use radio and television.
That's just how it is. - inactive, on 11/07/2008, -1/+1Quite a reach to suggest ∅bamadinajhad's employment as a "community organizer" contributed ANYTHING positive to this nation. Certainly, its record since is equally empty of value.
