- haleym, on 10/12/2007, -0/+51More like they're finally adding some old, basic things. Don't get me wrong, I love Gmail and the several innovative features it has, but the ability to quickly empty spam/trash has been a pretty standard feature in most mail programs for ages, and I (and many others, I'm sure) have been annoyed by its absence.
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -1/+49Foolfromhell - Question: How the hell do you take a crooked *screenshot*?
- Kamic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+46 I do enjoy Gmail, glad to see they are adding new things. i've been getting more and more spam going into inbox because the ad is only an image. I hope some new technology can start to detect that soon.
- heinousjay, on 10/12/2007, -2/+40Does your pharmacist email you when your viagra comes in?
- john608, on 10/12/2007, -1/+29Damn. Finally they added this feature. I am using over 50% of my space, and 70,000 spam messages. There was no way I was going to sit there and slog through all of that

Can finally delete all of it! That is a 3-day old picture. I have 9k+ now - jdkane, on 10/12/2007, -9/+33He's not talking about hotmail, he means the mail service for dyslectics named "hmaiol", but still off topic none-the-less.
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+23well, I was copying from clipboard in Photoshop, and I accidentally rotated the image and ddint bother to change it back.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -5/+21About frickin time.
- zatrix, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18why the hell did you let it get so big?
- shout, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13First off they just removed Google Maps from Beta status. Don't be a follower. Say something original.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12You have that risk with any spam filter. In my experience with several web-based email services, Gmail's spam filter is by far the best and most accurate. It has never incorrectly flagged an email of mine as spam, and it has only let a few spams slip into my Inbox (mostly like mentioned above, message in the form of an image).
- jpt62089, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Finally! I get about 500+ spam emails per month! it is a pain to delete them all! *Select all -> Delete x 5+*
- CornStarch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I hate how Gmail shows you how much spam you have in your spam box, all it does is annoy me.
- poipoipoi, on 10/12/2007, -5/+13yeah, Google abuses the concept of beta-ness, using it as an excuse.
- jimrooney, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Not that everyone would want this... but why isn't there a "just chuck any spam" setting. Why _must_ I have a spam box? Sure there _could_ be some random email that gets marked as spam, but who says I care about that? (that's the idea behind a preference eh?) If all that crap that keeps showing up in my "spam" folder just went to the trash instead, I'd be plenty happy.
- dbr_onix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8www.customizegoogle.com if you use Firefox - it has an option to stop it showing the spam counter
- Ben - wes121593, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8This is both bad and good. Good because you can get rid of spam quickly. Its bad because a legitimate email may come in and it may get marked as spam. Then when you delete all spam there goes the email. Who knows how important that email just might me
- Atlantics, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Did you actually read it? "If you don't see the link yet, you'll find there in the next days."
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I use Gmail daily and I love it, however is it really newsworthy that they are adding a delete all spam button? Thats the kind of thing I'd just see one day, say "neat" and be done with it
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6This has been on my account for about a month now. Excellent feature. Now I don't have to delete the thousands of spam emails I get every hour 50 at a time. I can slay all these foul beasts in one move. Kudos, Gmail team.
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10You know, I know they enjoy the whole simple interface thing, but the fact that they didn't roll out basics like this in the beginning is what really kept me from moving. Now that I've figured out how to get to my Yahoo (which I've had for around five years) through Thunderbird, I don't even care anymore.
Had they given the simple basics like this in the first place, I probably would've moved completely to Gmail when I first got my account with them. - ionut, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7The code is there, but it's not yet activated for all the accounts.
- bSimms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Strange... I was just dleleting spam today and was like "sheesh this takes forever to delete all this"
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Per month? I get that in about 20 minutes.
- perrupa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5To order a special digg posting wand, please mash your palm into the keyboard following the beep.
*beep* - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Give it time. Gmail features are added to accounts in alphetibetical order, I think. Or something. It's not added globally at one time. It's a process that takes a little while to complete.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Uh, I have had this feature for about 6 months. Anyone else?
- aaryn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9***** I thought I had a lot when I had 2500 but you got me beat foolfromhell hahah
- Soave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6ROFL, did anyone else notice the "Spam Recipes" above your spam messages in Gmail? I assume that's Google's humor at work.
- RichGC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Great news, I like to go through my spam and check for the one or two that get falsely flagged, and having it emptied after checking certainly turns it into smaller chunks, but gave up doing it page by page as it was so slow and boring.
- Zolk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Agreed. I wish there was a way to turn off the indicator for that. It annoys me just knowing there's new spam.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7More like sausages.
- Tyrel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I get 300 spam messages per day, but it gets automatically deleted after 30 days, so I'm not sure what the big deal is. They provide plenty of space to store 30 days of my spam.
- ericnmu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Should have been there in the first place ffs
- DrSkrud, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5About time!
- ifonly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5ROFL this is so ironic, I thought to myself earlier today, I want one of these delete all buttons, especially when you get 1000+ spam emails a month.
- macewan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4this feature was a long time in coming. for anyone that spent the time to delete all spam manually :-)
- feedmecereal, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@iamcitizen
I've also had this feature in Gmail for a long time. - rhsjr7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Not all spam is just text, (plenty with images and html) they can add up if you get a lot of mail.
- nanabite, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8I agree. The way things are going, Google could take a dump and that would hit the front page of Digg. I love their tools, I use them quite a bit, but you have to draw a line somewhere.
- PepperMinty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I have had this feature in my account for some time. Either I am special or it is the Gmail Skins extension for Firefox... ;)
- BevansDesign, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Good feature, I guess. I just ignore my Spam folder. It's not like I'm ever going to fill up all 2.2gb of space they give me anyway.
- Lynn, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7There is nothing new or cool about a "delete all" button.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7@zweben
I was thinking the same thing. - TKDWILSON, on 10/12/2007, -1/+41. I enjoy keeping the spam because Gmail deletes it after 30 days and it allows me to see if I am getting more or less SPAM. I get about 720 messages of SPAM per month.
2. How on earth do you get SPAM in the 10,000's? That is amazing! Is that Gmail account your Specific SPAM account I hope?
Eric Wilson - vegasbright, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3bout ***** time
- nullmind, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Originally GMail wasn't supposed to have users deleting any messages, so this was more of a design choice than "oh we left that out on accident" type of thing.
- dharm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i am pretty sure i have had these links for several months atleast
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have asked for this forever. I have 6630 spams.. I sign up for a lot of freebies/ free magazines.
Thanks google. Empty trash is also nice. Getting better! -
