      Digg needs to stop rolling up comment fixes like a giant MS service pack vaporware and start implementing them 'early and often'...the beauty of web development is the ability to do this.

That extra post-processing just makes it that much worse.

          Oh well, I absolutely love the looks of the new system. It took freaking long enough, but it looks like it will have been somewhat worth it.

They should set up digg to where you can't see the amount of diggs until you yourself digg it up or digg it down. I was using an HTML filter that basically did this, but it doesn't work anymore (I'll have to re-code it). When I first switched to it, it didn't feel right, because I was so accustomed to viewing the amount of diggs first before I made my decision, but that demonstrated exactly what was the problem. Now that I have gotten used to not seeing the number of diggs until I myself choose, I like it even more, because it is a more individually honest vote.

        Although he could've easily submitted & front paged the video himself, he chose a more creative way of getting the job done and for that I give him props.

For example the first thread is white background, next thread is #eee background. It would be even better if each layer in a post had a color definition to help your eye out more where you currently are in the thread layer. They really need to get a graphic artist in there.

With the new system, in articles with deep threads it will definitely get hard to distinguish between threads. But speed>understanding threading, since half the time people post in the wrong thread now anyway.

      Just type in your username and it will show you all your previous comments in descending chronological order, with diggs up and down, number of replies and even a graph of your ratings.

      A comment that gets +200 and -3 probably is not controversial.

        I see what he was saying now. It's not the comments with the most diggs and the comments with the most buries that get sorted, its the comments with a similar number of diggs and buries.
        The only problem is (and you can see this in the video) a comment with a low number of diggs/buries could get put at the top just because it has exactly 1 digg and 1 bury.

You may think "controversial" may just mean something that attracts a lot of attention. Unfortunately, this is one of the buzzwords the media uses to attract even more attention in headlines and such.

          By definition, "controversial" means that there is lots of argument and discussion from both sides of the issue at hand, even the representation is not evenly balanced.
