- MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+49Battle? It's more like a slaughtering. Netscape will never gain as much popularity as Digg...
- kohlmannj, on 10/12/2007, -6/+34Wow. I actually laughed out loud when I saw this. Let the Great Web 2.0 News Site Block Battle commence.
- batmant, on 10/12/2007, -2/+29Netscape isn't saying anything. Unless you consider every submission on Digg something Digg says. It's psfk.com who is saying this.

I didn't know who Jason Calacanis was until he was on TWiT...he's kind of a tool. - elShaggy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28Its funny how they criticize something they are blatantly piggybacking off of. I digg the new digg.
- jamms, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23start adding friends and become involved.. you'll see what all the hype is about.
- robbh66, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16You love all the new, larger ads? Interesting...
- MicrowavedH2o, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16The only reason Netscape writes this is because they rival (read: rip-off/copy-cat) site will never be as good or popular.
Long Live Digg!
[even with the few errors and such with v3, like my google homepage widget not working... :( ] - crawf061, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14from the netscape site "It took me three tries to get a story in there, and then they buried so fast my head spun. Netscape rules!"
haha... leave Netscape to the Digg flunkies! - Crimsoneer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14"Netscape 0.1 dissapoints"
- ngageguy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14If you can find something better, use it. Damn Trolls.
- robbh66, on 10/12/2007, -17/+28Everybody who posts in this thread about how netscape is nothing/has not room to talk/will be killed by digg truly magnifys the biggest problem with Digg. Let me explain
ACTUALLY CLICK ON THE LINK AND READ THE GODDAMN ARTICLE INSTEAD OF DIGGING IT BECAUSE A MORNIC SUBMITTER PUT AN INCORRECT TITLE.
Here's a link: http://www.psfk.com/2006/06/digg_30_disappo.html Where in that is netscape.com?
Digg's biggest problem is, and will always be, people who jump on a bandwagon without even clicking on an article. People really show their stupidity by doing so. Maybe the submitter had a more accurate blurb but sadly, judging from the comments on here, it seems some of you even failed to read that before posting a comment.
Go ahead and mod me down, alot of people are good at doing that when they hear something they dont like to hear, regardless of it being right or not. - thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14you just got modded down, no one cares about your page.
- Paktu, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11If only digg had advertisments between comments, then it would be awesome.
- raven4, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11yeah, so, they are disappointed by the very site that they base their idea on, lmao.
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Oh the irony of one social aggregator linking to another social aggregator complaining about it.
Seriously, are some of you guys so attached to Digg that every positive or negative article about it needs ot be posted on the frontpage? - dark1152, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7umm, you can filter the Digg spy ...
- LegendarySock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6@zaid13
1. Go to your profile
2. Click History
3. Now at the top right, the search box has adjusted to it searches your digging history. - flaire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6i actually don't see any ads on digg. i use adblock.
- dmoney22, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Honestly, I liked the old version better. =/
- zaid, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8The biggest disappointment...instead of FIXING the search feature for your dugg stories, it took it out altogether. Disappointment? Thats a huge understatement...
- samgab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I like the new Digg. It is a much improved interface, without being so different it feels like a different website. Nice job Digg team! I look forward to those new real time tools in July.!!1one!!
- blw1138, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3what i love is the fact that on the Netscape homepage, some of their top stories have as few as 13 votes... seriously...
- avocadobeandip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I wouldn't say that Digg v.3 disappoints, but I will say that Digg v.3 has been mostly news about Digg v.3.
I've been a steady reader of Digg for months (finally registered today, don't know why I didn't do it sooner), and the constant self-referencing today has been quite disappointing.
I know it's just the excitement of this great step forward, so I cannot wait for things to get back to normal later in the week. - alexrudloff, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4How do digg users not understand the concept? None of us over at Netscape "said" anything. A user posted a story, and it was voted up.
My personal opinion, for whatever it's worth, is that all of this "drama" overhyped the Digg v3 release. It's a great release, but it's an evolutionary release of expected features. People were treating it like it was going to be something bigger, which is not only unfair, but framed the expectations in a bad light for some. - Allometry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The fact that Digg is successful is because of the idea Digg had from the start. Once the idea hit mainstream, it won the audiences of boing-boing and slashdot alike.
The thing that will ultimately sustain Digg is the release of new features, which add value, but also because Digg, like Google, has now become a verb. You can "Google" for things and now you can "Digg" [on] articles.
Who the hell wants to say, I "scaped" it or "yeah, check out Netscape for that article..." It just doesn't work and because of that, it will be hard pressed to earn mainstream status -- no matter how much money is thrown at it... - 500freestyle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Looks the same too me, except the adds are a little more intrusive.
- hooges, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like the new Digg.
I hate the Netscape copy.
Enough said. - RussellZiskey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i pray i never hear Jason's voice again.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Digg v3??? huuh?? did i miss something? Honestly it has been quite dissapointing.
- haxx4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually, only about 45 stories have gotten over 4000 diggs.
- aahpandasrun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The new categories are nice, but it's more of an upgrade than a complete overhaul.
Also, why can't it default to "All Categories" instead of just technology? - SmeRndmGy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4You care what people on the internet think? Stop being a pussy.
- hobophobe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Obviously the article does not originate with Netscape. That said, in a strict comparison I think both sites are still growing. Digg 3.0 has some good and some bad. They will learn from their mistakes and move on.
I can't hold the same optimism for Netscape. Judging from this experience of their site (my first), they are far more intrusive into viewing the content they push. A sidebar? Please. If I want to go back to your page, I will. Don't try to latch on to my browsing experience.
Their front page is also a lot worse than Digg's. I've heard a few people say that Digg's front is cluttered, but that's certainly not true when compared with Netscape. And of course, it's owned by AOL. Big Corporations tend to have trouble learning their lessons. - logiik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The Netscape Beta sucks. It's soooo slow.
- Zoglog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I'm sorry, I wasnt aware http://www.psfk.com/ = Netscape......
I swear Digg users can be so dense sometimes... - burnstyle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3dig 3.0 does disappoint.in some ways
like the rss feed used on google's custom home page no longer works correctly, most of the links i have clicked from the rss feed give a "page no longer available" error
the save search feature is annoying
I'm sure ill find a few more things over the coarse of this week that will irritate me
however, it was just released... there will be bugs, and whether or not you like or dislike Netscape really doesn't matter. the users are pointing out bugs and bugs need to be pointed out so they can be fixed - Exodin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I clicked Netscape link and thought I was still on Digg.
Netscape is hilarious; time to update your resumé fellas - orfilms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Notice who voted on the the post on Netscape. More than half of the voters are connected to AOL. Why isn't a organization that prides itself on truthful news follow-up not making a disclosure that most of the diggs, errr I mean "votes" are from diggs main competitor?
- SlashNot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol no i didnt post this to get users to netscape, i dont use netscape so Why would I do that?
- joaob, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2The title should have said "Netscape agrees with article regarding Digg v3 dissapointment".
Someone who works for AOL/Netscape posted the story to the beta Netscape and a bunch of employees voted on it. - cpawl, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Netscape might suck, but so does the newer, slower, chunker, ad ridden Digg. I am hoping for another rip off... one that is NOT AOL and one that has more than 30 million 14 year old gamers like Digg.
- silver31u, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1For a website that the digg hivemind says is crap and a copycat, digg is certainly overly concerned about how it compares to digg. I'm a long time digg user and I've played with the new netscape a little. They are not direct competitors, yet. The new netscape is what? a week or two old? I would say digg beats the net netscape almost all the way around by a large margin EXPECT for digg users superiority complex.
- DCMacHead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm not a big fan of the font (I liked the old one)
- crazyjeff0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Guys, make a netscape account, log on and talk some ***** on the comments board. I did, then negatively rated all the pro-netscape comments and positively rated all the pro-digg comments. Digg power!
- accidental, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Netscape lost relevance 10 years ago. Nothing to see here, move along.
- elpayo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On that TWiT episode from the SF Apple Store he couldn't seem to get the idea through his very wide skull that the folks from RocketBoom weren't in podcasting to get rich, but rather to have fun and not be evil. Which apparently did not compute for him and runs counter to every money-grubbing bone in his body.
- THX-7168, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In all honesty, if you were told that both Digg and Netscape had the same exact content, which would you choose? Which one of the two is more appealing?
http://img486.imageshack.us/img486/183/diggvsnetscape8ja.jpg - megatoast, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Agreed. I feel the main screen is too cluttered.
- thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1so you're telling me I can filter the "entertainment" section out of it?
I couldn't care less about if someone dugg a story about britany spears, think before you post. - jramos, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Netscape is plenty popular!
...with the people they pay to run the site... -
