- magnusdopus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Also forgot to note, MySpace execs boast how they should have killed YouTube when they got a chance. What a**holes. Everyone remembers how they tried to do this and their user's complained. I just wish Digg and YouTube would get together, build an open social network, and just demolish MySpace.

That is so goddamned pathetic that it almost defies description.
Nobody know who the hell this is, or cares. - nandop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Limitations are the main cause of death in web2.0 social network apps. MySpace just got itself in the row.
- trevorml0878, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am an expert in SEO- search engine optimization and I own a online music marketing company. I make my living doing this. I'm 37 years old. My website is number ONE in google and has been for years for tens of relevant keywords search terms. I also write internet articles on the subject of search engine optimization and internet marketing. I've been doing it for almost ten years now in one way or another. I was also the director of internet marketing at a company called ReChannel.com
- trevorml0878, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yeah it's crazy to try and block people from their natural inclinations, especially on the internet. What you try to control becomes a way for your competitor to exploit you. I wish these people would grow up and realize that the best way to make money is to provide the best service. If people want to sell music through someone other than snocap then find out what is better about your competitor and compete! Make your offering better until people choose what you have. This kind of thing is the beginning of the end.
- sfacets, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tequila is a bit slow.
- magnusdopus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Nobody on Digg. Frankly, in the real world, she is more famous than your beloved Kevin Rose.
- jonahf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Could you imagine the backlash if Google pulled a post on Blogger that talked about the benefits of Wordpress or Movable Type? This is pretty similar. People think they own their MySpace pages and all the content within. Of course they don't, but the point is that MySpace is infringing on the user's perception of right, free speech. I think it's a terrible move by MySpace.
This sums up the MySpace attitude:
"We probably should have stopped YouTube,” Michael Barrett, chief revenue officer for Fox Interactive Media, a part of the News Corporation, said in an interview in late February. “YouTube wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for MySpace."
YouTube is superior to MySpace video. Hoooka is superior to Snocap.
So much for community. 'A place for friends.' - gigaboy20, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Shouldn't the more important topic be how to create a service that is unblockable by myspace? The time it would take to compete and win is just not worth it. Terrorist are few but influence many a nation. There has to be a digital version of the same tactics but not malicious.
- nukirk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Alright. Wither or not you like "MySpace" is not the issue. The issue is how these guys are using their services that was built by the very users and slap them with the inability for them to use their space.
I mean, think about it. Don't they think it's enough that their site gets mentioned and have real estate in a lot of ads? No. They want more ways to create revenue and the more they take away the freedom they "promote" the better. Eventually, you won't be able to link your own sites.
