- jblade, on 10/12/2007, -3/+35MySpace still sucks.
- titlesaysitall, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18That is putting it lightly.
- Plooo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17This upsets me because I don't want to go to MySpace to watch videos. That sites makes my whole body hurt.
- digid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8There are developers actually working on Myspace? Could have fooled me
- vermin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well at the very least it *is* the bastion of intelligent web developers on the net. The same cannot be said for Myspace.
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The reason Youtube is ahead: No one cares if they get deleted.
If you upload music videos on myspace and an artist complains, you can get your profile deleted. Thats all of your contacts and any content on your page, as well as your blog.
On youtube, if an artist complains, you get a couple of warnings before your account is deleted. I don't know about you, but I'm not too big on the profiles and messages on YT. I don't really find it to be a good system other than the videos. Thats pretty much all its got. If I can't have my name on there, I don't care. Thats why its ahead. - greatwhite87, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6And You Tube is the bastion of intelligent people on the Internet?
- Opiate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Regardless if you don't like MySpace this is probably a good thing. It somewhat legitimizes the YouTube model.
- Rice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I was thinking the same thing.
Web .01 = MySpace - TheCardinal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can only hope that the bandwidth costs for these videos kill MySpace.
- bostonvoip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2There not combatting youtube's appeal - they just want all the action!
- berwiki, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3lol, seriously, have you looked at teh code to design your own CSS? The table names are a joke. Tom sucks at c0d3ing.
- fiberspy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's not fair vermin, you're comparing people to rocks that just roll across a keyboard.
- Stonedonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Question in the back!
It seems like every analyst who's been asked says that YouTube would get sued into the Stone Age the moment it went public, because of its copyright infringement...
But Google Video has its share of unauthorized video clips, and has for a while. How come no one is crowing about them?
This leads me to believe that YouTube's legal situation isn't as fragile as it seems. But no matter how it ends up, the silence on one topic and the constant speculation on the other has me puzzled. - thecrow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1benny, is 100% correct. I perosnally do not use my youtube profile for anything but uploading videos. I could give a rat's ass if they delete my profile. On the other hand if my myspace was deleted it'd be hassle to make a new one and inform everyone of the new profile.
- eNthem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1MySpace is acting ignorant... but the reality is that YouTube can also turn the tables by introducing their own social -- not video related -- network... Any thoughts on this??
- sapo916, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Your videos on Youtube = free publicity, fame, etc!
I wouldnt care if you posted a 2 minute piece of my feature film you pirated which in turn makes someone watch the whole thing. - michaelw, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"News Corp. in particular is overhauling its Web sites"
You mean so they can all look as good as foxnews.com? - drathan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Solutions to the copyrighted material issue, and the dark side of social networking are offered here:

Tested on Windows XP
Dont hate me, im on dialup that is shared with a couple of other pc's at my place, feel sorry for me!
digg.com is like 300k to load ( before advertising ), that is nearly a minute of loading on my dialup ( on a good day when other people arnt using the bandwidth aswell).
So i only expect bandwidth impaired people to use this....
copy the following into notepad and save it as diggadds.bat then run it.
@echo off
c:
cd C:WINDOWSsystem32driversetc
echo 127.0.0.1 newsrss.bbc.co.uk >> hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 newswww1.thny.bbc.co.uk >> hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 static.fmpub.net >> hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 dynamic.fmpub.net >> hosts
echo 127.0.0.1 pagead2.googlesyndication.com >> hosts

exit - wilsonics, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Adblock + filtlerset.g myfriend, they shall save you. I didn't even know digg had ads until i used IE one day a while back.
- MaddDog, on 10/12/2007, -6/+4If you don't want to go to Myspace to watch videos, don't. I'm sure YouTube isn't going to disappear - unless the Myspace offering is genuinely superior, in which case I'm sure most people wouldn't mind.
- vogelzang, on 10/12/2007, -6/+3A true understatement.
- Fenrok, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0You know what I am really getting sick and tired of? People like you who post complete biased bull**** against people who don't make web design their top goal. Myspace is not about technology. It is not about computers. It is about people who make profiles to keep in touch with other people through their lives. The reason people such as yourself say it sucks is because of "idiots who can't make a website". These type of comments get dugg because of people who blindly agree.
Stop saying Myspace sucks until you understand what it is about. You have provided no real reason to make that judgment other than seeing poorly designed profiles made by 13 year old girls. These are real people with a life and they simply don't care about "Web Standards" and other stuff.
Bury this comment if you are one of the clueless Myspace haters
