- Malakin, on 11/11/2007, -2/+623The Goatse image might actually improve most of the MySpace pages out there.
- zixxer, on 10/22/2007, -2/+380...then people email him all pissed that he "hacked" their myspace...lol this is simply awesome
- residentweevil, on 10/12/2007, -0/+273Not just that, the idiots that hotlinked as a part of their template design wrote him. Have they no shame? Or are they really just that stupid?
- Flanker, on 10/15/2007, -6/+278Link contains some words describing the goatse image, but not the image itself. Decide for yourself whether that's safe where you work.
- jmreid, on 10/12/2007, -2/+261I'll take door number two.
- exipolar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+189reminds me of the time that guy hacked 127.0.0.1
- GiggleStick, on 10/12/2007, -7/+191Any parent who lets their kids roam around MySpace has already failed. He's just accelerating their descent.
- dcrumpton, on 10/12/2007, -4/+177Considering that they are MySpace users, I would assume that they really are that stupid.
EDIT: jmreid beat me to it. - r00ts, on 10/12/2007, -7/+170You managed to explain all of that to a 14 year old kid with black fingernails who constantly writes dark poems about how horrible the world is and sits in a dark corner cutting himself all night?
Kudos to you. - Intrepion, on 10/12/2007, -7/+167I'm 23 and I saw it for the first time today... I'm scarred for life. :'-(
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -10/+167I'm sorry, if you think that Goatse is nothing to flinch over, you have spent way too much time on the Internet.
- shifty2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+157my roommate's myspace account was affected by this!! i had to explain to him about hotlinking how bad it is and how it can cost a crap load of money due to bandwidth usage. he replaced the image with another one that he uploaded to my FTP account.
people who hotlink like that deserve what they get when someone replaces the image with a gaping *****! - catullus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+147pics or it didn't happen
wait... nevermind i don't want that - Matt2k, on 10/12/2007, -20/+155> No reason to be a dick when it is underage kids who really don't need to see that.
Sometimes the only reason you need, is that it's FUN to be a dick once in a while, *specifically* when it's not serious OR permanent. Everyone has a good laugh or cry over the image and life goes on.
I agree that somewhere, at some point, a young kid saw this and quickly clicked away. But similar things happened to you and me and we both turned out OK. - dcrumpton, on 10/12/2007, -2/+118I take it your profile got goatse'd?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+122A simple .htaccess rule could handle his problems (although it wouldn't have been as near as sweet):
SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^http://www.your-domain-name-here.com/" locally_linked=1
SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^http://www.your-domain-name-here.com$" locally_linked=1
SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^http://your-domain-name-here.com/" locally_linked=1
SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^http://your-domain-name-here.com$" locally_linked=1
SetEnvIfNoCase Referer "^$" locally_linked=1
Order Allow,Deny
Allow from env=locally_linked - cheddar, on 10/12/2007, -3/+99Perno, you're an idiot
- msgyrd, on 10/12/2007, -4/+99I don't know all of you, but I'd seriously consider paying for the bandwidth just to make goatse.cx show up on 25k people's pages. Limiting it to local references only would ruin my fun.
- dunnduggit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+89Here's one!
http://myspace.com/afterdark_horrorfest - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+86It's one thing to goatse, but much more fun to get creative with your own image. My roommate had a band on MySpace using one of her landscape photos, so she replaced it with many sexy David Hasselhof pictures instead. It was a while before the band realized that everyone thought they were some kind of campy gay act instead of a stoner rock band...

"Everyone refers to the image as Goatse, but the URL was goatse.cx"
The reason that Cheneythedick was dugg up was because he was simply pointing out a reference. You on the other hand were correcting everyone for calling it "Goatse" when everyone refers to it like that and there is no reason to call it anything different at this point. - upsidedork, on 10/12/2007, -19/+88How are kids harmed by seeing Goatse? It's gross, sure, but what actual damage does it cause to them? I'm just curious.
And why aren't adults harmed by seeing it? And at what age does it switch from being harmful to not-harmful? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+69Damn you digg! htmlspecialchars(), cmon, its not that hard. Anyhow:
<FilesMatch ".(gif|png|jpe?g)$">
Order Allow,Deny
Allow from env=locally_linked

GOATSE - Guy Opens Ass to Shock (or Show) Everyone
I think goatse really fits the bill here...... - Poltras, on 10/12/2007, -2/+59127.x.y.z is reserved for local use (in case you'd want to put a full network of loopback NIC). Therefore everything on 127.*.*.* is local (although not configured by default... you'd have to create a loopback interface with an address before you ping it). Hope this helped
- snlildude87, on 10/12/2007, -4/+60NiGHTSChao, you know what would hurt more? If someone started a site that provided images and stuff for people to put on your myspace. After a couple of months, change the images to goatse or tubgirl. Myspace would be no more.
- fullphaser, on 10/12/2007, -8/+64pshh. Goatse is nothing compared to what they could have done. Goatse isn't really even worth flinching over these days. The myspace users had it coming, they need to learn the internet has its own set of laws (however unspoken) and hotlinking is a big one.
- hansondr, on 10/12/2007, -3/+59The interwebs have come a long way (down) since the glorious days of goatse. The myspacers got off easy I say...tubgirl anyone?
- davidadam, on 10/12/2007, -3/+59Perno, I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but me and some buddies have been borrowing your car for the past several months while you were asleep. We didn't damage anything, but we didn't fill up the tank either. But hell, you were asking for it by having a car in the first place.
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+50The ironic part is that pulling the prank to save his bandwidth got him front-paged on Digg. I'm not sure it's helping his bandwidth problem any.
- EdgeTX, on 10/12/2007, -16/+64Dude, I hack 127.0.0.1 all the time. I found all kinds of pr0n on that machine and a bunch of DIVX. Although 127.0.3.43 had a bunch more to offer. LoLz
- deusx, on 11/11/2007, -2/+49jwyles: "A simple .htaccess rule could handle his problems"
I'm pretty sure Mr. Scott knows his way around some .htaccess rules. This wasn't just sweet, this was a hard knocks lesson for the rest of the MySpace world. It was educational! :) Maybe in the future this sort of thing will make others thing twice about creating the need for someone to implement .htaccess rules like these. - h0zae, on 10/12/2007, -2/+48Original Picture http://www.gfxzone.org/personal/razorback/03/razorback-the_grim_reaper.png
- Niffer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+47In short, they really are that supid. You see this kind of thing on kiddie forums all the time. A lot of times those posts can't be edited unless by an admin. Makes you look like a jackass!
- kethraal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+46@perno
"If I'm a loser for being on MySpace, then so be it."
Thanks for admitting it. I think we're done here. - typhinx, on 10/12/2007, -4/+46Myspace: a place to show the world how big of a jackass you are
- Sippi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+40PayPal would drink half before it gets to him.
- dracostimpy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+42Wow, you're some kinda jackass. Doh... cheddar beat me to it.
- thumbup, on 10/12/2007, -16/+52Pointless post. Try http://www.duggmirror.com. Theres no point posting it if it ain't linkable.
- gclef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+36@fenrok
off-topic geek fact: "." at the end of a DNS name is not a mis-spelling. It just indicates that you're officially done with the name, and that your system shouldn't try to look for any local variants of the name. In other words, any name ending in "." is "fully-qualified" according to DNS. "duggmirror.com." is effectively equivalent to "duggmirror.com" to your browser. - picciano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+36Amazingly (and sadly) enough, the replacement image did not significantly make that page worse...
- krewemaynard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+35you win, yet we all lose.
- DeepDoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+37hotlinking without permission should always be punished by goatse.
I would love to see the look on some parent's face when they walk in and see that on their kids myspace account. - MichelangeloPM, on 10/12/2007, -7/+40Forgive my ignorance... but what's special about 127.0.3.43?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+36Seriously Perno shut the ***** up. I'm not even reading your replies anymore, and I'm still digging you down. Just stop. You're done. You're a *****. The Digg community knows that now. Stop proving it over and over and over again.
- badfrog, on 10/12/2007, -10/+41I goatse'd some myspace clown a few months ago when I caught him hotlinking an image.
And it was the background for his whole page. I giggled a lot. I just didn't digg it! - brendandonhue, on 10/12/2007, -0/+31Yeah, because putting an audio file in an tag works.
- jivemasta, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30I don't think the problem is them using his content. It was that they just linked to it. The template makers could have just as easily saved the image and then put it on one of thier servers, but they decided to just link to it, making the guy that hosts the image pay for thier bandwidth usage.
If sombody ran a cord into your house and plugged a lamp into it to light their house, you might be a little pissed, but you wouldn't notice it on your bill. Now if everybody in the city plugged a lamp into your house, you would be really pissed and your electric bill would be huge. Now if you could some how find a way to stop all of them from using your light by overpowering the bulb and blinding them for a minute or two, wouldn't you? - Markpdotcom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+29===================================================================
