- XxUNDEROATHxX, on 12/27/2008, -0/+36will apple allow it? no.
but cydia will. - inactive, on 12/26/2008, -7/+40I want it on my iPhone!
- chris4404, on 12/27/2008, -1/+21It competes with Safari so will Apple allow it?
- kenvsryu, on 12/27/2008, -1/+19duplicate functionality application denied. please stick to safari crashing 3 times a day.
- 2res, on 12/27/2008, -0/+18Open up android
- leodavinci, on 12/27/2008, -1/+17Microsoft needs to make a better mobile browser, Explorer Mobile on Windows Mobile 6 just blows. Both Opera and Skyfire are light years beyond it, and I can't wait to try out Fennec on WinMo. Microsoft has done quite a bit to improve IE on the desktop, but they are going to lose the vast majority of the mobile browser share very quickly unless they improve rapidly.

- kiantech, on 12/27/2008, -0/+11what if fennec had flash....awww yeahhhhhhh. too bad apple is lame and would never approve it.
- inactive, on 12/26/2008, -2/+12I want it for my HTC Dash. Currently use Opera Mini, but would like something better as Ope3ra has its minor problems.
Been hearing how much better Pocket IE 6.1 is (compared to 6.0), but the update feature on my phone does nothing but say "Found No Updates", had this phone for about 11 months. - Nosyn, on 12/27/2008, -1/+9It's a small fox, what do you expect from a company that names their "real" browser: Firefox...?
- absurdist, on 12/27/2008, -0/+8I'll settle for it working right on the N800...
- RyeBrye, on 12/27/2008, -2/+10Not while Steve Jobs is alive... never gonna happen.
- Lowspirit, on 12/27/2008, -0/+7Article says only N810 for some reason but it runs just fine on my N800 (same performance as N810 just no hardware keyboard but the onscreen one works just fine). Performance for sliding out the tab bar on the left and toolbar on the right has improved ALOT from previous versions which is nice because it was a major turnoff making it unusable.
For me though fonts look weird on all sites, like font kerning or whatever it's called is all messed up making spacing between certain letters too small, other then that big step in the right direction. - RobotBuddha, on 12/27/2008, -1/+7I've found safari to finally be stable with the last update. But I'd still like some more functionality there in any case. Come on cydia! Screw the official channels!
- NoMercy, on 12/27/2008, -0/+5haha true but they could have made the picture at least a little bad ass

Fennec:
Desert-dwelling fox (Fennecus zerda) found in northern Africa and the Sinai and Arabian peninsulas. It is small (head-and-body length 14 – 16 in. [36 – 41 cm]), weighs about 3.5 lb (1.5 kg), and has large ears (6 in. [15 cm] or more in length). It has long, thick, whitish to sand-coloured fur and a black-tipped tail 7 – 12 in. (18 – 31 cm) long. Mainly nocturnal, it spends most of the day underground in its burrow. It feeds on insects, small animals, and fruit. - amitait, on 12/27/2008, -2/+7Dugg for supporting open source.
- doshindude, on 12/27/2008, -0/+4Voyager support would be awesome. The browser that comes with it sucks. Most sites I go to with it say I need to "update internet explorer" when it isn't even internet explorer.
- campodiez, on 12/27/2008, -0/+4I hope this will be a good replacement for Opera Mini (which I do like)
- mythicflux, on 12/27/2008, -0/+4Try Iris by Torch Mobile. It's WebKit based like Safari and runs pretty good on my Touch Pro. http://www.torchmobile.com/
As for Pocket IE (or rather Mobile IE 6), According to Microsoft that's never going to be released as an upgrade directly to users. The only way to get "6 on 6" is for phone makers to release a new ROM for the phone.
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/11/19/microsoft ... - douglasr007, on 12/27/2008, -0/+4bad ass? PUT ON FIRE STRIPS THOSE ARE BADASS YEAH
- macmcraeart, on 12/27/2008, -0/+4Dugg for cool logo critter thing - plus general support for anything mozilla. Bet apple never okays it.
- mrkmrk, on 12/27/2008, -0/+4Hell, if it can beat out MobileSafari in terms of rendering, rendering-speed, tabbed browsing, and everything else that makes it great, I'll be grabbing it off of Cydia.
- superdog87, on 12/27/2008, -0/+3I would love to have this on my Samsung Instinct.
- Jareth86, on 12/27/2008, -1/+4Make it touch friendly, and I'll have it on my HTC touch in a heartbeat. I've been stuck with a glitchy Opera forever, and they almost never update.
- Chan85, on 12/27/2008, -0/+3Hope it makes it way to the Android Market. The browser the G1 has is ok, just looking for something better
- christinme, on 12/28/2008, -0/+3I agree with this. I like safari and the iphone browser but they seem to not be as sophisticated as mozilla. If there were a mozilla browser on iphone i would use it. I like the iphone browser but there are some quirks that get to me every time i use it.
- str1fe, on 12/28/2008, -0/+3You're still using FF2 then?
- incidentflux, on 12/27/2008, -0/+3Nokia N8xx are Maemo (Linux based) aka Internet Tablet OS based devices. Nokia is big on open source with the likes of Maemo and now Symbian OS going open source, those devices will start coming out next year.

The real test will be, how fast this browser runs on (Non tablet) less powerful Symbian OS S60 based devices which have the largest market share and mind share at the moment. - inactive, on 12/27/2008, -2/+4Same here, Safari is the worst microbrowser I've ever used. It makes PS3's web browser look awesome
- Kazrog, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2I wonder what phones will be supported. I certainly hope Apple doesn't block this from the app store - it will be very bad for them if they do.
Gave the browser alpha a test run in Mac OS X and I'm impressed so far - this is clearly the future of mobile browsing. - ZGambit, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2It has been clarified NO Fennec will not be on iphone... currently the next OS being worked on is the S60 3rd Edition for Symbian and Android
- mrBitch, on 12/29/2008, -0/+2Good point, but even if Apple DID allow a build of Fennec onto the iPhone there's a pretty strong argument as to why it wouldn't work too well on the iPhone. This bit FTA :
" Fennec may well prove to be most disruptive when replicating and extending the desktop experience in a mobile device."
The reason the iPhone worked so well is that it does NOT try to replicate the desktop experience on a mobile device.
Windows Mobile tries to replicate the desktop experience, and look how well that OS is doing on mobile phones (not too well, in the last two years Windows Mobile market share has almost HALVED). - mythicflux, on 12/27/2008, -0/+2They actually have it. Mobile Internet Explorer 6 (which is not Desktop IE 6 in case you were confused by MS' weird naming scheme.) The problem is that they are just sitting on it. IT was supposed to be out this year (2008), but then Microsoft suddenly changed their mind claiming they were only allowing handset makers to decide to release the phone.
- pikelet, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2Mini is a lot better than the BB Browser..for one it can use generic data instead of pay through the nose BlackBerry data.
- unrealmp3, on 12/28/2008, -0/+2He'll be forced to switch, FF2 support is phasing out :)
- kostovnet, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1Well, I hope that this mini FF will be the better choice for mobile browsers as its desktop counterpart. My WinMo device could really use a 'smarter' browser ;).
I guess it wont be appearing in the Apple App Store (for it duplicates Safari's functionality or other reasons)... no hope for the iPod/Phone. - greg9683, on 12/27/2008, -1/+2You can install Opera Mini on a Black Berry, so why not Firefox?
- nutsackorama, on 12/28/2008, -0/+1Will it run on my Nokia 8110?
- inactive, on 12/28/2008, -1/+2Sure you can install Opera Mini, but the far better/powerful Opera mobile is reserved for Win Mobile and Symbian. Mini is only slightly better then the BB browser.
- RyeBrye, on 12/27/2008, -2/+3My phone doesn't run VaporOS so it seems I can't use beta versions of it yet.
Seriously - what platform is this available on that people are already hacking and adding features to it? Just the N810? - altcountryman, on 01/05/2009, -0/+1He's kind of bad ass. I mean, he's a small fox, how badass is he gonna be? A fox is more cunning than he is just a straight-up tough guy.
- Amazetbm, on 12/29/2008, -0/+1...and makes the PSP browser look like an epic achievement.
- jforinfo, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1I'm still use the opera for my phone browser..

=================== - hans51, on 12/29/2008, -0/+1I was waiting since years for a mobile ffx browser for N95
it's about time mozilla brings a mobile version - inactive, on 12/27/2008, -4/+4Doubt the BB will get it. Its ancient OS probably couldn't run it. I know because I own one.
- kolyanych30, on 07/29/2009, -0/+0wow, mozilla in mobile phone, really good!
- igorskee, on 12/27/2008, -3/+2Yet it doesn't pass the Acid 2 test. I've benchmarked some mobile browsers yesterday, check it:
