- DjArcadian, on 10/23/2007, -2/+28Who cares. Where's Firefox 3 already?
- chris9902, on 11/04/2007, -3/+27update. open Gmail and it's using over 114mb? WTF is that *****!
- ChrisRX, on 10/21/2007, -0/+20That's most likely the bug in the flash plugin. Adobe still hasn't fixed it.
- OJXs, on 10/21/2007, -1/+19I've been using firefox for years, couldn't stand IE
I kept hearing about Opera, and decided to give it a try, and I can't say I'm dissapointed.
I surf digg a lot, and with Opera there are no slowdowns when opening multiple digg tabs, especially ones with the comments (firefox users you know what I'm talking about) I also find opera to be a bit faster overall, but nothing significant.
There are downfalls though, like no extensions, no ad-block (but I havent looked into that). - KWhat, on 10/20/2007, -0/+16Because people want to feel special that they have a blog. Thanks for the link =)
- TyCage, on 10/20/2007, -4/+18"This version is just to increment the version number and get some hits on the web site."
- fkr3, on 10/21/2007, -1/+14Good to see digg's not sleeping through these incrimental updates too!
- gyphie, on 10/21/2007, -2/+15My Firefox beats me up and takes my lunch money
- LanceWindu, on 10/20/2007, -0/+10Mine does this same thing with only 2 tabs open. Digg homepage and the comments of a popular story.
- DrunkAdmin, on 10/20/2007, -0/+9submit all browsing habits to google? where did u read this?
- ipodman715, on 10/20/2007, -0/+8Coming next month.
- jdhore1, on 10/20/2007, -0/+8another FF release, another stupid ***** comment thread about the memory leak problem...Yes, i have it too, but there's no decent replacement for Firefox on Linux (no, not Opera, it looks like ***** in Gnome) and it's the best browser in Windows so stop bitching or use another browser. Also, as potp said, this issue is fixed in Firefox 3.
FF2 ram usage with like 15 tabs open: ~180MB
FF3 ram usage with same 15 tabs open: ~50-60MB - 2shae, on 11/04/2007, -1/+9You have no right talking about memory leaks in firefox until you've used Safari on Mac!
This is with just 2 tabs open:

YES that is 400MB of ram
And happens on a daily basis. - McInternet, on 10/21/2007, -0/+7Whew, that was close. Ubuntu's live CD was almost completely up-to-date for a full 24 hours. Nice job, Mozilla.
- jdhore1, on 10/21/2007, -0/+7Actually, it's A LOT more than that...it's about 110 fixes in total:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=5901 ... - tsaxer, on 10/20/2007, -0/+7Because they wanted their little Wordpress account to die today.
- Topher06, on 10/21/2007, -0/+6"This version has some fixes which were not there in previous versions" Classic!
- andywebb95, on 10/21/2007, -0/+5You too!
Mine install also pushes me down the stairs and tells me to tell everyone it was an accident! - dynacrylic, on 10/20/2007, -5/+10I think they need to fix the memory leak too. I'm having a horrible problem with it on linux. It keeps crashing and running very slow.
It doesn't seem that bad on windows though. - 2shae, on 10/20/2007, -5/+10You have no right talking about memory leaks in firefox until you've used Safari on Mac!

YES that is 400MB of ram
And happens on a daily basis. - rotten777, on 10/20/2007, -0/+5get Fox It PDF Viewer and ditch Adobe.
- racketboy, on 11/04/2007, -2/+7Actually, I tried Opera for a while after hearing comments like this and I had the same memory issues with it...
- HaloZero, on 10/21/2007, -2/+6A few security fixes, good to Mozilla is on top of things.
- missingnoh4x, on 10/21/2007, -2/+6***** Wordpress. It goes down faster than a $3 hooker.
- greenmile, on 11/04/2007, -0/+4115mb? Talk to me when your Firefox reaches 400mb
- DagMX, on 10/20/2007, -0/+4For adblock, right click and there should be an option called block content. Just use that. You can also edit the opera block list to include the same filters as adblock in firefox.
- codyodell, on 10/20/2007, -0/+4Because someone with less friends on digg submitted the real link.
- kenplaysviola, on 10/20/2007, -0/+4My Firefox gets frozen when I try to open PDF files. It's a blank screen and it locks up. Probably Adobe Reader's fault, however, PDF's open fine in Internet Explorer
- monkeyrun, on 10/20/2007, -2/+6Fix the memory leak please.
- sorepheet, on 10/20/2007, -6/+10I only use Firefox to surf- often have upwards of 15+ tabs open- rarely have issues... I don't miss IE 7 one bit
- Sabretou, on 10/20/2007, -1/+5OMG, googlez is in my firefoxez, stealing all my data. Seriously man, grow up.
- etruscan, on 10/21/2007, -0/+4Always digg up a Firefox story.
- mirzmaster, on 11/04/2007, -2/+6Hmm... not sure what extensions you have installed. I've got Gmail open, with the Better GMail extension, and 6 other tabs open and Fx memory consumption is at 105mb (which is high anyways).
But, try using Google Maps in Internet Explorer if you want to see outrageous memory consumption. :) Opened a personal map, mapped from my home to a destination, and bam, iexplore.exe is at 115mb! - TypeEE, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3because someone need to earn adsense money, but ironically, firefox's adblock blocks all the google ads.
- brotherfranciz, on 10/22/2007, -0/+3"For the last ***** time there is no memory leak problem."
After I read that line, I thought you were going to say "It's a godamn feature!"... - t1n0m3n, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3*Looks at syxle* Yeah! And why did your tongue poke your cheek too?!
- hotpepper, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3I don't know, but I want to know how to do it, too.
- spyder91, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3Don't get me wrong, this is great and all...but why is this news? I allowed the auto-update through Firefox without issue as always. I'm all for pointing out pertinent information that betters users in anyway, but this is kinda like pointing out a new Windows Update for IE7.
- Frostek, on 10/20/2007, -1/+4I've used this browser since it was Phoenix 0.8 and I've never experienced this memory leak people keep going on about. Either on Windows or Linux... What am I doing wrong?
- digitaloxygen, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3I was wondering which side of the fence that problem lied on. Last time I poked around google I couldn't find much if any info about it.
I can always tell when I have flash running in Firefox just by the SOUND of my computer (Macbook) because the CPU usage jumps up and the fans kick in. It's pretty sad. - stmiller, on 10/25/2007, -1/+4Firefox does not do well with pages that have lots of scripting. Opera opens huge digg pages in a blink, but it takes Firefox a long time. :(
- sadatoni, on 10/20/2007, -0/+3I've found PDF pages to be real slow opening AND closing. I'm about to make it open external to FF.
- akira117, on 11/11/2007, -0/+31. Open a new tab. Type "about:config" without quotes into the address bar and hit enter/click Go.
2. Right-click anywhere, select New, then Integer. In the dialog prompt that appears, type:
browser.cache.memory.capacity
3. Click OK. Another dialog prompt will appear. This is where you decide how much memory to allocate to Firefox. This depends on how much RAM your computer has, but generally you don't want to allocate too little (under 8MB), but if you allocate too much, you might as well not do this. A good recommended setting is 16MB. If you want 16MB, enter this value into the dialog prompt:
16384
Now STFU about it already - Smileyface11945, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3I see Wordpress errors are not one of the errors fixed in the new version.
