░░░░██░░▒▒▒▒▒▒▒SEED PLZZZ - zomgflamer, on 03/20/2008, -8/+96They must implement this for porn asap. No more waiting long downloads for just 10 seconds of happy time!!
- badenglishihave, on 03/20/2008, -2/+81I've been waiting years for something like this.
- TimDigg, on 03/20/2008, -3/+73"Why can I only see 89% of the movie?"
"damn gotta wait 2 weeks to see the last 13 minutes of the movie" - hassanchop13, on 03/20/2008, -0/+39i thought piratebay said they were working on some thing a few months ago
either way, i want it. - takeo1775, on 03/20/2008, -1/+34I hate it when youtube is slow, maybe this new tech will provide an alternative... I miss Stage 6 :'(
- subcomandante, on 03/20/2008, -0/+31TORRENTIST!
- sylvok, on 03/20/2008, -6/+33Best quote ever
"The fact of it is, PIRACY is against the LAW,thats why im a pirate…Breaking the law makes it better for me……..I love to steal copyrighted material…***** the MPAA, RIAA…DONT tell me what i can and cannot do……I will share files with anyone who wants it, I invite you all to sit with me at my table and drink rum from the oldest barrels..Join me in my quest to navigate my ship through the uncharted realms of the internet…God bless the administrators of the torrent sites. We as pirates will never bow down to the likes of goverments, not now not ever.100 million+ strong pirates, our voice will be heard throughout the world, and our message is clear…….Freedom to do what we want in cyberspace..LEAVE US ALONE..Stand and salute the greatest mockers of goverments TPB…God Bless…….." - MickJT, on 03/20/2008, -0/+26How does this work? BitTorrent grabs pieces in a semi-random order.. There's no valid contiguous file until it's 100% complete. The first 30 seconds could come down last.
- domokunt, on 03/20/2008, -1/+25Dude YOUPORN!
- poidh, on 03/20/2008, -0/+18Seed.
- PaulOwen, on 03/20/2008, -0/+16The Stage6 phoenix rises from the ashes!
- chris9902, on 03/20/2008, -1/+17fake torrents? wow. you'd have to be a total idiot to fall for that.
- KaivenTor, on 03/20/2008, -0/+13Meanwhile, the lawyers at the MPAA just had kittens...
- arcooke, on 03/20/2008, -0/+13It's the exact same concept... the only difference is that the data is being fed to a media player and the pieces are prioritized in order.. All they have to do is download the torrent instead of stream it to see who else is connected. Plus, you hold direct connections with all other "viewers" you are receiving the data from and sending the data to.
- nedzalife, on 03/20/2008, -1/+13Problem... No seeders = no streaming video... Now if the TV studios host the files as seeders and stream their content on demand... nah, they're not smart enough for that...
- PueSi, on 03/20/2008, -0/+12Didn't Azuereus do something like this?
This is a great idea, streaming video uses a lot of bandwidth, P2P makes sense.
Hopefully it gets used for more than piracy, we need as much legal content using Bittorrent as we can. - bj1989, on 03/20/2008, -0/+11Actually I think anyone who ever downloaded films through bittorrent thought of this idea...
- domokunt, on 03/20/2008, -2/+13TERRORIST!
- Jenadae, on 03/20/2008, -0/+10YAY MORE HIT AND RUNS!
- Yarns87, on 03/20/2008, -0/+9This will be great for previewing torrents before downloading them. Uploaders wont have to include a preview video for downloaders to check quality. Pretty frickin' sweet if you ask me.
- BirdCatcher, on 03/20/2008, -0/+9still works like the same bit torrent protocol you, hence you are still simultaneously downloading and uploading... even during streaming.
- kevyn, on 03/20/2008, -0/+8xtube redtube pornotube (erm...a friend told me about these...)
- Devilboy666, on 03/20/2008, -0/+8They're modifying the protocol to get the pieces in order instead. It will probably work well for popular torrents.
- univerio, on 03/20/2008, -0/+6There actually exists something like this in China. It's called Qvod Player. Unfortunately, though, the site is not in English (but the program is multilingual), and I personally have not tried it.
- MickJT, on 03/20/2008, -0/+6Is that really "BitTorrent" then? It's just another P2P protocol based off it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_%28protoco ...
BitTorrent downloads the rarest first, otherwise random, hence semi-random. If they're modifying this, then I wouldn't be calling it BitTorrent anymore.
The correct headline would be "Mininova to launch video streaming using BitTorrent technology". - colonelbuckshot, on 03/20/2008, -0/+6A few people were suggesting this idea after Stage6 closed down citing costs.
- maddog, on 03/20/2008, -0/+6So this means no more RARS?
Plz!!! - trippinlikegod, on 03/20/2008, -1/+7Umm you obviously know nothing about the scene. Pirates race to get 0-day ***** out before everyone else. It's all based on Pre times and it's quite competitive and sometimes comes down to a matter of a couple of minutes which group gets their release out first.
- Totz83, on 03/20/2008, -1/+6I really cant see this working very well, only the most popular vids will be in any way watchable because of the slow speeds of under seeded vids, sites like surfthechannel are far more reliable for streaming media
- BigLLamasHouse, on 03/20/2008, -1/+6Also isn't the point of BitTorrent that you download different parts of a file as they come available from a peer and then all come together at the end?
- inactive, on 03/20/2008, -0/+5You are an idiot.
- DrGee, on 03/20/2008, -1/+5ah the bigger picture!
- stereoa, on 03/20/2008, -0/+4http://www.nzbplayer.com/
- scrag10, on 03/20/2008, -0/+4I don't think you understand the picture is only half way done... needs more seeding
- fremeer, on 03/20/2008, -0/+4dont forget spankwire
- houndeyex, on 03/20/2008, -0/+3Since when is SciFi not a porno fetish?
- mwomorris, on 03/20/2008, -1/+4Not to mention TVO Player and Sopcast, which both use BitTorrent as a delivery system.
- matador3, on 03/20/2008, -0/+3Yup, ***** all those ***** who don't include screens with their porn, now I can try before I buy! Well, maybe not buy but you get the idea ;)
- Mardi, on 03/20/2008, -0/+2boysfood
- inactive, on 03/20/2008, -0/+2^You couldn't understand.
- Mizzike, on 03/20/2008, -0/+2too late; it's already in beta.
- ers35, on 03/20/2008, -0/+2"Because of various reasons it will only work with Featured torrents"
You will not be able to stream copyrighted content with this. - Smuikas, on 03/20/2008, -0/+2and tnaflix
- Hortnon, on 03/20/2008, -0/+2That's what I was thinking, too...
I just gave it a test and it started playing almost immediately, and was definetely just a torrent file. - badenglishihave, on 03/20/2008, -0/+2Really? News to me... I've used Sopcast for a while and I knew it was some sort of p2p thing but not that it was BT. Any others you know of?
- senixon, on 03/20/2008, -1/+3They deserver the praise alright, but they're not working for 'our' benefit. Different organizations have different agendas, some do it for the money (ad revenue, etc) others for fame, but no one is doing this for you or me.
- inactive, on 03/20/2008, -1/+3Why are they attacking TPB when there is clearly more reason to be pissed at mininova?
- stoanhart, on 03/20/2008, -0/+2If they're doing BitTorrent with the bits in order, why do we want a player? Can't I just download the torrent in sequential order and view it with my favorite software?
- ChaoticCheez, on 03/20/2008, -0/+2you can already do this at piratefiles.org
