BitTorrent grabs pieces in a semi-random order.. There's no valid contiguous file until it's 100% complete. The first 30 seconds could come down last.

All they have to do is download the torrent instead of stream it to see who else is connected. Plus, you hold direct connections with all other "viewers" you are receiving the data from and sending the data to.

This is a great idea, streaming video uses a lot of bandwidth, P2P makes sense.

BitTorrent downloads the rarest first, otherwise random, hence semi-random. If they're modifying this, then I wouldn't be calling it BitTorrent anymore.
