- mfaith, on 10/12/2007, -1/+74I loved arrested development. Bummer that it was canceled.
- amigiac, on 10/12/2007, -10/+44"making the show available online for the first time"
Yeah sure it's the first time it's been available online.
Ahem, cough cough torrent cough... Sorry just clearing my throat. - auyongtc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30If they wanna do something about Arrested Development, fund the next season instead! garr!

- dwissing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18One of the greatest comedy shows ever. There are so many subtle jokes in each episode that many people probably never picked up on. Ever notice the funniest shows are the ones with no laugh track?
- colemanm, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17That's the best piece of news I've heard in months.
- dengar69, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Uncle Father Oscar!!
- negativefx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Check out Bob Loblaw's Law Blog!
- corser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Well for the typical sitcom you have a formulaic plot that goes from A -> B -> C -> D and the only difference between episodes is minor (and largely interchangeable ) details.
Lets take "Home Improvement" as an example. Either they start at home or at the show. Tim screws up. Invariably he pisses his wife off somehow. Tim goes to Wilson for advice. Tim then ***** that up. Wife stays mad. Tim goes on his show, screws up, "Ra ra ra ra", stops show to prove to his wife that he's learned his lesson. All is well in the Taylor household. Except for the actors getting older, nothing really changes in the core family. Issues of the week are brought up but are basically resolved by the end of the show. (Same for Everyone Loves Raymond, except that the kids are only there when the episode requires them )
Arrested Development is different in that the characters do develop. Situations actually change and plots are typically unique. They do have some episodes that mirror earlier ones but that was rare and actually added to the show, rather than take away from it.
Additionally they used of music for foreshadowing, sight gags, self-referential jokes, jokes directed at the production issues of the show, hidden jokes. In a way AD is as close to the Simpsons as a live show will get, but improved upon it by not keeping the world static, and maintaining a believability that the Simpsons could never achieve. - Evari, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16Just a shame the shows also gunna be on G4... I feel so conflicted.
- gambl0r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I'm looking for something that says 'Daddy likes leather'!
- VyRuZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Your nick says so much about you...
- ldhertert, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15They're showing reruns of AD on G4? That just made me die a little bit inside. Taking the best sitcom ever and putting it on a channel with the worst programming ever...ugh.
- MysticSavage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12AD gets cancelled, but Two and a Half Men and King Of Queens still exist.
- KnightMareInc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13fox is retarded for canceling it.
- brianjameskirk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Maybe we'll see a Family Guy esque comeback from Arrested Development, albeit a legal and sponsored one. Doubtful because of Hurwitz but I'm hopeful nonetheless.
Perhaps an attic shall I seek... - azenone, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12 Oh, Bob Loblaw, you are a mouthful!
- Pigglesworth, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Stupid people demanding instant slapstick laughs don't understand the comedy of Arrested Development. The rest of us intelligent Diggers do...
- rufo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Well, that was a freebie.
- Scottish, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12What do you feel conflicted about? Which place you'd rather NOT watch it? Love the show, but I'm going to be hard-pressed to either turn on G4 OR use MSN. Do the artists a favor and buy the DVDs.
- codemonkey76, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11best. show. ever. nice to see it hasn't disappeared entirely.
- Horace, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I guess you could say I'm buy curious.
- ajrizzo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12(Throws both arms up in the air) BILL GATES!!
- shaolinpunks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9i also heard that Mitchell Hurwitz wouldn't come back and that it wasn't fox not willing to sell
don't forget there may be a movie in the works - gambl0r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I'd share my pop secret with you.
- ajrizzo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11What? This is a fantastic BUSINESS MODEL.
Starla, can you come in here? (Solid as a rock!) - MasterDwarf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Arrested Development was intelligent humor, with awesome writing. Those that don't get it are the ones that think Three's Company is the pinnacle of situation comedy.
- prockcore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8My favorite are the "out-of-show" jokes. Like the time Buster got his hook stuck in the dashboard because he was doing Mr. Roboto. That is much funnier when you realize that the actor who played Buster was the guy who did the Mr. Roboto Volkswagon commercial.
- supermauerbros, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9This park definately needs a "Don't feed the trolls..." sign.
- whiterocker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9dot-com
- whiterocker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I can taste those meaty "leading man" parts already...
- aNoble, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I swear I pick up new jokes I never caught before even after having seen an episode probably a dozen times.
- gambl0r, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Thank you Microsoft! I vaaaalue your tiiiime!
/runs off with Bill Gates' watch. - Phlag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Fox does indeed benefit from DVD sales, but right now it is also about the only way that you can reward the show's cast and creators.
In the last episode Ron Howard alluded to doing an Arrested Development movie, and it would be a lot easier to get support for that sort of thing if DVD sales are good.
I love AD. It's definitely one of my favorite TV shows of all time, if not THE favorite. I'm thrilled that it's still kicking around despite being cancelled. - leodavinci, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14Just watch it off of MSN and make sure to not click on any ads, now you are using Microsoft's bandwidth and they don't get a dime!
- jkatzer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Michael, if this is a lecture on how we're all supposed to whatever and blah-blah-blah, well, you can save it, because we all know it by heart.
- colin7151, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I hear Bob Loblaw lobed a law bomb.
- aNoble, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7The good news: Arrested Development for free (not that I don't already own every available season, when are they going to release the third season anyway)
The bad news: Microsoft will probably DRM the heck out of it and I won't be able to touch it with Linux - johnmalc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Heh, yeah... like I'm going to sit down to watch Microsoft video in my six THOUSAND dollar suit. COME ON.
- heavyd14, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Hey SmeRndmGy, do you remember Family Guy or Futurama? Both of those were on Fox, got canceled, people bought the DVDs, and then they got picked up again.
- spectrox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"I think I just blue myself..."

http://the-op.com/media/image2.php?i=8855 - SteaminTmann, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Rough Idea of comedy? Just because a show doesnt have a laugh track doesnt mean you can't think on your own and laugh when YOU KNOW it's funny. That is exactly why the show got cancelled, because of people with this state of mind. "Hmm , I'm not sure whether to laugh or not.... I didnt hear a laugh track, so I cant laugh." The same people like you, 'gaynigger'. It's too bad you didnt mention some of your personal faves.. which I can imagine are real gems!
- SmeRndmGy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Analrapist.
- dclowd9901, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7DOUCHE CHILL!
- MasterDwarf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Yeah, no kidding. Where's the justice?
- corywingerter, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7GET THAT AWAY FROM ME. If I wanted to eat your thumb I would've licked the inside of your ear!
- TimmyGUNZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"now american idol is just a rip of pop idol which makes me wonder if a person out in another place on earth is slaming his head on a wall and wondering when the pop music reality shows will end"
Seeing as how all the "idol" shows are created by the same guy (Simon Fuller), it's kinda hard to say it's just a "rip off." - MoeB, on 10/12/2007, -4/+9Actually they get money regardless of you clickig the AD or not.
- corser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5You're not the only person who watches TV. Many of us, loved the show and were sad at it's canceling. If you don't like the show, that's fine, watch whatever you like, and discuss how much you love that in a thread dedicated to that show.
