- newbill123, on 01/23/2008, -1/+9To the DataPortability folks, it's just a big deal to get the Microsoft name on their list of supporters. But Microsoft is a huge organization and with plans which can sometimes be openly contradictory. If this is a push to integrate web and desktop standards, that's a significant and scary territory they're treading. If it's just a "me too" kind of effort to make Windows Live appear just as open as other popular services... well, that's probably an insignificant move.

- MWeather, on 01/23/2008, -3/+4Those are not open formats they're open proprietary specifications, and FYI they have not opened their XML format. The format they're trying to get ISO approval for isn't the one Word can write. In fact there is no program which can create that format.
