This may be due to the fact that engadget has very good articles, Because if it did not, people would not digg the damn story. After reading this comment It has come to my attention that you know not of how Digg works. In an effort to make the world more intelligent, and keep better quality storys on digg, I would have to say you should leave. But this may not be in your favor, and another sugestion would be to help someone write a letter. Thereof giving yourself more likable qualitys by emulating a paper clip.

Full well do I remember the first time I encountered Clippit and the other Microsoft Office Help characters: I certainly didn't need their assistance, but at the same time, I certainly didn't find them *obnoxious*, for god's sake....They were simple enough to shut off, and I've known a number of older folks (50 years old and up) who suddenly found themselves required to use Office in their workplaces in the late 1990s who actually benefitted from the animated help. As late as last year, though, when I was teaching in southwestern Pennsylvania, I got to work on installations of Office 2007 in which Clippy and his gangstas *could not* be shut off for some insane reason. At which point I just ignored them.
MS should've released 2007 with semi-sentient upgraded versions of Clippit and Tha Boyz, each of whom would be voiced by a different Beastie Boy *or* a different member of RunDMC. THAT would've been awesome! - autoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Mr. Gates, your son is dead.

haha engadget can' spell href - UberFuzzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6the thing that bothers me about everyone jumping on the "die clippy" bandwagon was that it was one of about 8(i think, maybe 10) different avatars you could pick from if you had a full version of the software, and not just what got installed on default.
there was all sorts of stuff, a spaceship, an earth, a dog, and my favorite, an Einstein.
i never saw what people had a problem with the helper avatar,
if you didnt like it, then turn it off, silence just 1 checkbox away.
