I'm bracing for this. - keonnerod, on 10/11/2007, -2/+10so?
I can do this by /join #whateverroomname - Vich, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Don't go in there, it's a trap!
- SamKellett, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8This doesn't use the IRC protocol?
- dj_sea2005, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7It has to be said:

They (ChatCreator.com/ChatMaker.net) use it, and its open source. - technique, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4You pray for "web 3.0" and "ajax 2.0"? That's the only way those are going to disappear my friend.
- mytakeout, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7cool idea, needs some work though. the window could be bigger
- wouaren, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4http://www.chatmaker.net/chatap/rooms/LOL/
- kitta, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4It's powered by Lace, which is open source - http://socket7.net/lace/
- stephenwq, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4This combined with the addoneword.com article has proved the average IQ of a digger to be rather low.
Its actually quite embarrassing. - xTRUMANx, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7This is sadly not opensource. No sign of the source code anywhere. AjaxIm is a simple ajax based instant messaging client that is opensource. If you wanna check it out up and running, go to http://dressr.florisgarden.com/ajaxim_v30/, register an account (no need for a valid email) and add me. username: dressrhelpr
- Myonosken, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4This. There are thousands of web clients for IRC, why the ***** is this an innovation?
- wakasm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3All i know is, I entered chat and it was already hacked to have an image of goatse.
If web 2.0 is goatse, what was 1.0? - aaron, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4OMG it's irc.
- jsaya, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Do NOT goto "I created a room for this digg article" - tubgirl everywhere... my eyes...
- maerteijn, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5I pray for the day that this "web2.0" and "ajax" hype will be gone...
- Veretax, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Dug down as inaccurate as I thought this was an article on how to use Ajax to build (via code) your own Chat rooms. If I wanted to create something on the fly like this I'd just use some open source thing and not worry about Ajax :/
- Narfmaster, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2EPIC
- Toshibi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Hmmm, you know the LOLDIGG thing from earlier, why not set it up to where a room is created for say 24 hours for the top news stories per day?
- dude3609, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3try these if theres too much spam in the first one.

http://www.chatmaker.net/chatap/rooms/digg3/ - ellion, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2How very nice of you to inform us. Thank you.
- dude3609, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2might have to do up to /digg10/ because the rooms are filling up fast.
- spacenettnet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2DIV and H1 classes are fun, makes everyones words come out huge, and occupying the entire screen
- jsaya, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2tubgirl everywhere... my eyes...
- dude3609, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5AMAZING web 2.0 technology. Much better then cgi irc from 100 years ago
- Korayem, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3http://www.Planetminibox.com is far more superior!
- seekandestroy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2omfg.. that was SOOOOO NSFW.. good thing i'm at work
Sounds like a good idea, if they don't allow tubgirl or goatse images everywhere - psyjoniz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2hahaha tubgirl!! LMFAO
- Dested, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2That went downhill pretty quick.
- ellion, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I totally agree.
http://lingr.com
Same concept and a bit nicer, you have to register though - keonnerod, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4what we're saying is. This isn't a big deal. So what, you can create chat rooms on the fly. You can do the same ***** on an IRC network. There are thousands of good web clients for IRC. So this is essentially old meme.
Pretty lame if you ask me. - dude3609, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1theres alot of things that digg needs but doesnt have. You think the developers for digg dont know that? They dont take suggestions they develop based on how they feel.
- zurn, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I like flashchat better, its 5$ but looks sooo much better and has so many more features
http://tufat.com/s_flash_chat_chatroom.htm - guydudeman, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5Looks really cool. Needs a privacy policy that we can read, though.
- p0tent1al, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Well what I'm saying is, for all the mothers/relatives of the world who own a computer, but don't know what IRC this, this is a simple way to interface with them if they don't have a chat client. It's as easy as copy & paste. If I were to go ask my mother what IRC is, she would think it was some government organization or something.
No it's not groundbreaking, but then again it is not for the geeks (like yourself). - BalooUrsidae, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1So? Why do it this way when you can do it with a protocol people actually use with JWChat?
- Toshibi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'm saying that it would probably be trivial to use a system like this combined with the front page RSS feeds to dynamically create the web pages and set an expiration.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1this is formerly known as chatcreator.com right? same design as the previous one
- rmitchell, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1looks like its gone as soon as the last person leaves
- frankietears, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Digg chat room was just hacked.
Normally it would be fine, but..... NSFW - raindog469, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Minibox requires registration; this is just "paste the URL and go."
But it sure would be nice if this thing had private messaging, so I might have to grab a copy of Lace and see if I can get it going on my own site for my friends to use. - MCurley, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1ASL?
123 to cyber - counsel, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Who cares if it is open source? I only care if it works and is useful. By works I mean easy, efficient, etc.
Nobody complains that WoW, GW, Quake, etc... are not open-source software. Before you bring up that some of the old game software is open-sourced, realize that nobody would use that software to create a new game with high-end graphics...
While I wouldn't pay for this, don't bash it just because it is not "open source." The license has nothing to do with the usefulness of the software... - iGadget, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Jagshemash! :)
- fjf314, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I think this is actually decent if you want to have a chat with people who aren't savvy enough to be able to figure out how to use IRC.
- dude3609, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1i suggested an idea below that we go to /digg1/ , /digg2/ , /digg3/ to keep the spam down. Maybe even past /digg3/ depending on the amount of people.
- Powerdrift, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3Also the design. The frontpage is nice, but the actual chat application stinks.
- onemillion, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1buried for buzzwords.
- ronnyguru, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0It would be nice if it was iphonified !
No Copy/Paste on iphone , so maybe a was to email link to phone then we can FWD to others we'd like to invite to the chat? -
