- Delphion, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14holy *****. i'm going to go have nightmares now.
- tw0bit, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Sweet, but creepy
- pumacub, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Oh, so all mantises look the same to you? That's so buggist.
- m0laria, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10yes, a green, black, red, and brown uncircumsized penis with dual antennas and 14 legs.
- kylerk, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8It's nice to see pictures like this, it proves that videogame monster design is no where near the limit creativity or believability. I always see some monsters and video games and think they all look like things from doom or halo, never anything too special or intricate.
- rebz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I, for one, welcome our new insect overlords.
- fletchowns, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6And who says there's no such thing as aliens?

It's not Russian; it's Bulgarian. What would you like translated? - jacobmp92, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Me too. The images make you saw "wow," but they creep you out. O.o

very cool i need to get a macro lens for my xt - Roger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Beautiful insects.
(stop squishing them!) - FelixWankel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Heh, anyone else have the sensation of things crawling on them after seeing these? Or lifting your feet off the floor and making sure there's nothing crawling around down there? Very cool, macro pictures always impress me, and I'm sure it was difficult to get close to some of these (frog, grasshopper, butterfly).
- mtrip, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I will fight those evil alien creatures to the death. Earth's survival depends on us resisting these demons, who's with me!
- JAKN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3most of these insects are filmed this close in "Microcosmos"

this film utelized some ground-breaking microphone techniques as well - carguy84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I'll warn you know tho, it has a REALLY shallow depth of field(which I love). Here's some examples with it:
Top row: 1, 2, 3
Second row: 2
http://www.chipsphotos.com/gallery.asp?galleryId=106&navId=2&imageId=163
You'll fastly grow addicted to it, it's a lot of fun to play around with. - carguy84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2nice! that second picture I'd have loved to see with a macro lens, very sharp! Did you use a tripod?
- Didden, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Lovely pictures. I used to be scared of insects, now im just blown away by how amazing nature is. But typical human behaviour to see these as evil. Insects are crtical to life on earth.
- bebop717, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Well I think you should know for every human being alive at this moment, there are about 200 million individual insects.
Sleep Well. - bigdoug2005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The lens and bokeh is what makes these pictures so great.
- chaosmachine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2if i was going to guess, i'd say he's probably using this:
http://www.photo.net/equipment/canon/mp-e-65
if you scroll down a bit, you'll see a picture of a wolf spider that someone's taken with it. - ace87, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2WOW these photographs are great! What camera did you use?
- skidzilla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2How come this one has the Hellsing pentacle watermark on it?

- Justice101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I don't even know why I hit the link, I hate bugs. I'm so going to have night terrors. The tree frog is alright though.
- bradleyland, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Nature, the most talented artist.
- icoms, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it remided me of Bugs Life
- carguy84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2beelz, the Canon 500D lens attachment is a GREAT value. It can spin onto a lens and turn it into a macro lens with insane quality. I have the 77mm filter and use it on my Nikon 70-200. While it doesn't give the quality of a dedicated macro/micro lens, it's also $110 compared to $900 for a good micro lens. A cheap way to get into macro photography.

Chip- - armbar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did anyone else think of Brak on that last mantis picture?
- SoldierPrime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Very nice pictures, though for some reason the praying mantises looked a lot like the ones in the DiscoveryHD show, perhaps these are Discovery Channel?
- vanlandw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1good stuff i like it
- Scruffydan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2There are many ways to achieve such close magnifications.
The camera used does not really mater (its all in the lens) - beelz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1no i didnt use a tripod didnt feel like dragging it along on the hike. its by hand. one thing thats kinda cool you and others may like to see is the pod http://www.thepod.ca/ its a bean bag with a tripod mount. but i wish i had that lens attachment then but its ok ill have one soon
- FelixWankel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1m0laria, you owe me a new keyboard.
Wait, this isn't Fark. Nonetheless, I laughed. - radicaldementia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1more

The ones of the mosquitoes are creepy as hell - othersomethings, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1oh man, I couldn't make it past the 3rd one.

- cogen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow... those mantis pics are really cool.
Excellent pictures, dugg. - Winters, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2For some reason they don't look nearly as creepy in those pictures.
- levyjl1988, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Are you sure those are really insects, seems to me like freaking scray creatures that you'd expect from Evolution, lol, Digg, freaking amazing pictures, just amazing!
- MrZap, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Igor,
Many thanks for adding that comment. I was disappointed to see that the site in question was down, and referring back to the digg talk page I found your comment below, with the original source and even more material!

Thanks! - ilnyckyj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This gallery is outstanding. This is the first time that I've been AMAZED by INCREDIBLE content without being told how sweet it is beforehand.
- PrayerNeeder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1but when you squish them, you get to see their beautiful insides!
is an insect's beauty only carapace deep?
When you squish insects, the patterns their carcasses make can be used to determine parts of your future. It's sort of like reading tea leaves, but the most discernable, and most reliable message is "You will have to wash your hands or feet soon." or "You will have to wipe the schmuts off your boot soon." - beelz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Your pictures are great and a your site is cool also its nice to see I have fellow photographers on digg or in my case “want to be” Here are a few of mine as you can tell I have no macro lens or lens attachments but I may just have to get one

- robert3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That white Praying Matis needs to quit showing off his Kung Fu style. ;)
- trik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Im actually really scared of insects now, wheres the orcan man when ya need em?
- PrayerNeeder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"WTF????? I think these ARE CG - what's with the pentagram in the background in that one image? what camera was he using? anyone speak russian?"
What IS with the pentacle in the background?
The text on the pentacle brought up a comic book: http://surbrook.devermore.net/adaptionsanime/hellsing/helhellsgate.html
Is this a secret message to the comic book lovers of the world? Perhaps this is the new Bert Is Evil replacement? - beelz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.torrentspy.com/search.asp?h=&query=Microcosmos
- intoflatlines, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Not true. Many digital cameras exhibit different levels of noise, contrast, color saturation, and sharpness. Although many times the lens used does make a huge difference, the camera is a major factor as well.
