- davdav, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7How about gmail.com?
- captainpete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4What about the free version? I use it and it's pretty good.
- Jeffrey903, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I use Cobian Backup for Windows which is a great free program. I use it to backup certain folders, encrypt them, and upload them via FTP to my remote server. I also use SuperDuper on my Mac to have a perfect 1-to-1 backup of my Mac harddrive.
- drilldown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Setting up a windows backup-operator account can be a pain. Hardware, in this case, bypassed software. 250 Gig backup USB drive that you cans switch on or off, unplug. etc. A direct lightning strike couldn't touch my data.
Noah and some flooding may create issues to be dealt with later. - johnnysokko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Acronis True Image has a rather nice backup program as well
http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/ - nifty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3For a desktop app I have really loved SyncBack SE (windows only). It has a trial period, but is pretty cheap for a reliable full-featured backup.

You just drag files into the uploader and that's it, I've had to use it once already when my pc died, and I paid like 9 bucks to get all my files back.
- SnakeO, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3rsync = $0
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Very glad to come across a few these. Mozy seems like an interesting deal.
- pseudojd, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Was this meant for the couch freeloader website that Darwin'd itself with no backup?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2p2p back system.... gee i can't see anything going wrong with THAT
and yes, i realise it'll be encrypted, but encryption get easier to break all the time, no doubt someone will be collecting all this data and in 10 years time they will be able to crak some of it, no doubt finding all kinds of interesting stuff. - crazy2341, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I've used streamload, it's actually a very good service. It's pretty cheap and supports streaming your videos down.
- reject, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Best comment evar.
- ziffel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Agreed. I use Gmail for small data files, (create a new label for backups), but there's a 10mb per file limit.

1gb, free. And you can set the files to "online sharing" as well. - terrya64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1can't beat streamload unlimited storage and 4gig month download for 4.95 month.
- bks1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.BackupRight.com or http://www.evault.com both cater to business and personal accounts. Supports the backup of Exchange, SQL, mySQL etc - an option when you really value your data.
I have also used Acronis - but its not really an online backup system.
I want my backups safe and secure in a data center, not on my external drive. - Topfuel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I've been using ibackup for about a year and a half now. 5gb for about $120 a year. It's great for our business mission critical stuff as we can map a drive directly on our computers and my partner and I can share info no matter where we are. It's been 100% uptime for us so far.
- kremar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I came across Vembu StoreGrid on Digg some time ago (http://www.vembu.com), found their features & UI in particular to be quite good, and have been using their free edition ever since. I think it's still available on their site - free for up to 3 computers within a network. It does what a lot of paid stuff doesn't !
- OneWilbur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0need to get the link right
- edwinder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Hi, here's one you missed!
http://onlinebackup.connected.com/ - HowardTO, on 03/14/2008, -0/+0How about Storage Guardian? http://www.storageguardian.blogware.com? They are particularly strong on bare-metal backups...
- Ragnarpb, on 09/26/2009, -0/+0We use a london based company called plexus, there site is http://www.plexusbusiness.com and all our data is backed up automatically every night, having backup software is all well and good if you have the time, check this out http://www.plexusbusiness.com/remote-backup.html
- ezzonguard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I also use SyncBack SE. I use the shareware version to sync my home/work PCs via an external hard drive. Works very well as a syncing solution. I will probably also do incremental backups, when I get a bigger external hard drive.
- whittan, on 02/21/2009, -0/+0If you are in New Zealand, try NetRescue. It works well and is well priced. http://www.netrescue.co.nz/
- skadoit, on 12/15/2008, -0/+0Skadoit! offers affordable Online Data Backups; At only $6.95/month or $69.95/year. - www.skadoit.com
- hater2win, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Hopefully I don't get flamed for this, but Geek Squad has an online data backup service.
