- kurtu5, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4You know what I love using the word "gay" to mean something is stupid or whatever. But alas, my gay friend said its fairly hurtful and it should only be used to describe something if it is "fabulous!". :)
/So damn them homosexuals, I have to find some other word with the same shortness and punch. - AnotherBrian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Digg for not beginning it with "The top 10..."
- ruju6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Amazing. Thank you. I am a big fan of both Lee Byron's work (http://www.megamu.com/work/listeninghistory/leebyron) as well as C26000's (http://www.last.fm/user/C26000/journal/2007/03/7/362748/) Check it out.
- fredrated, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That is amazing.
FTA: "I guess if you carefully camouflage something controversial it can become public information without being torn down."
I think he has just defined the next wave. - freeagent99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm glad to see this. I know from my work that it can be difficult to communicate complex data. I remember seeing the census article in Time and thought they did a good job, I especially liked the population map at http://www.time.com/time/covers/20061030/where_we_live/.
- genericface, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Form + function?! Pretty, yes. But it's garbled mess and difficult to figure out what's going on. All of that space and you can only get a basic jist of what is happening.
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Don't bury him this is a valuable link, I almost posted it myself.
- kitfanc, 16 hr 48 min ago, -0/+1I had to think pretty hard for several long moments while I tried to figure out what purpose this has. But it finally dawned on me that, like a pie chart, a visualization is actually a faster form of communication than the written word. People can SEE a pie chart (or these beautiful visualizations) and get more information faster about the subject in question than having to slog thru boring statistical data.
Dugg for the enlightenment. Thx.
http://ArticleWritingNews.com - FunkyG, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yes some of these are amazing, but the interesting thing is the ones that are less amazing convey the data better. At the end of the day data visualisations are meant to convey a meaning in a way that is easy to understand, not to be beautiful. If you want beauty look at art.

- sarahmaddelson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Amazing. But I'm not surpised.
- inactive, on 03/04/2008, -0/+0Those visualizations are amazing. It's so outstanding that data like that can produce such a beautiful visualization. I love the magazine featured in the link. http://www.seniorservicematch.com - wiremonkeymommy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1like with art itself, I try to understand each graphic on an intuitive level, I don't think the conscious part of the brain can grasp the importance of what's seen
- Accutron, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Site is down and only 15 comments. Do people even bother clicking the links before Digging?
