- adml_shake, on 12/28/2007, -0/+59I haven't used Limewire in years, BT fulfills all of my needs now.
- Flamekebab, on 12/28/2007, -3/+45People still use this *****? Use Frostwire if you have to but preferably stay well clear.
- orthodoxDrew, on 12/28/2007, -2/+44i stopped using limewire as soon as the MPAA started suing people.
btw, limewire is the reason Geek Squad stays in business. when i worked there, i must have cleaned a pc a week that had it installed. - darkane, on 12/28/2007, -0/+31This data is *****. All this means is that 18% of people who use PC Pitstop have installed Limewire at one point. That is a -very- small sample of global computer usage. The real number of PCs with Limewire installed is more like ~1%. Just think of the sheer number of computers used in business and educational settings that can't and won't have Limewire installed. That same group of systems won't be using PC Pitstop.
- terracottapai, on 12/28/2007, -3/+32I beg to differ, every moron I know has LimeWire.
- bigtimslim, on 12/28/2007, -0/+27Personally, I get my ***** from a guy in an alley named Pooky.
- drizzlelicious, on 12/28/2007, -1/+2218% is still a lot
- jessestorm, on 12/28/2007, -7/+27I hate Limewire.
- brstilson, on 12/28/2007, -0/+19Limewire? I have a friend who still uses WinMX.
- nottheonlychris, on 12/28/2007, -0/+19Bakers bake bread
- inactive, on 12/28/2007, -2/+20***** Limewire, MPAA, etc...
- grepper, on 12/28/2007, -0/+18The data is still wrong. They used an awful sample: People who followed an ad which said it would clean off their pc and then allowed some random website to scan their computer.
Basically, 18% of people who are gullible enough to run unknown software (and therefore are likely to want to scan their computer) run limewire.
That says nothing about percent of all computers. The study is junk science and should be ignored. - juicebag, on 12/28/2007, -9/+26Limewire is for noobs.
- keyo, on 12/28/2007, -0/+17Half-wits bread quarter-wits
- Mantice, on 12/28/2007, -1/+18 95% of statistics are made up. Trust me I do stats.
- Marijuana, on 12/28/2007, -0/+17Morpheus? It's time to let go.
- LogitechG15, on 12/28/2007, -10/+26Some diggers sound like a bunch of ignorant *****. Just because most people don't know about torrents it does not make them an idiot. Not everyone is as tech orientated as the average digger, so instead of bashing every person who does something different than you, maybe you should get off your ***** computer and spread the word about other viable options.
- terracottapai, on 12/28/2007, -0/+12Fail.
- HacKing, on 12/28/2007, -5/+16Woops.... I published an article on this for ThePirateBlog.
/me runs to correct it. - TheJokerV, on 12/28/2007, -0/+11That's why you shouln't be "the tech guy" with your fiends. It'll get annoying quicky. I usually just say I'm too busy to help.
- baalzebub, on 12/28/2007, -0/+10p2p is trashed, it is no longer a jem like it was years ago, the MPAA & RIAA and idiots with infected windows PCs have turned p2p in to poisoned cookies and advertising spam...
- terracottapai, on 12/28/2007, -0/+10Easily.
I didn't say friends. - meadot01, on 12/28/2007, -1/+11Are over 18% of the people you know morons?
- tutivlahos, on 12/28/2007, -2/+1117.9265161123 to be exact.
- duckyinc, on 12/28/2007, -1/+10why can't you just use a music file search engine and download it faster without viruses?
- nightsweat, on 12/28/2007, -1/+10Limewire? Is it still 2002?
- NYC10004, on 12/28/2007, -2/+10Best Buy's tech support team.
- rabidmonkey1, on 12/28/2007, -0/+8Limewire, LOL!
On second thought, keep telling the RIAA that we all use limewire! That'll keep 'em busy! - orangefly, on 12/28/2007, -1/+8here's a stat....90% of PCs that people bring to me to ***** have limewire installed
- sdigroup, on 12/28/2007, -3/+10why even use this software?...there are other means of torrent sharing
- impreza, on 12/28/2007, -0/+7I download them in the mid that I am perfectly safe... Off bit torrent.
- InstantRamen, on 12/28/2007, -3/+10You can call me a noob . but i use lime wire. i am carefull about what i download. and mostly only download music. I use U-torrent. but just for a simple mp3 i use limewire .
- Tanktunker, on 12/28/2007, -0/+7Don't copy that floppy.
- bobdigi, on 12/28/2007, -1/+7Hell, dont use any flavor of *wire. They are all garbage, unless you like getting music at 112/128k that sounds like it was ripped from a cassette player. There are private torrent sites that can fill your every need, and virus free.
- m3mn0n, on 12/28/2007, -0/+5I work as a tech and every PC I see that needs a re-install/virus removal has LimeWire. Every single one.
I think it's more popular than people suggest, but I could care less about the actual number... I just want everyone to uninstall the piece of Crapware. - inactive, on 12/28/2007, -0/+5Yep, its more that the entire Mac and Linux userbase, maybe we should bundle a Linux distro with Limewire :D
- phoomp, on 12/28/2007, -0/+5Very true. Not one computer in my office (over 1000 pcs) will have Limewire installed.
- inactive, on 12/28/2007, -1/+6You people who are using BT should be aware that your uploading makes you a big ol target for the RIAA. Do you really want to get a love letter in the mail from them? At least with limewire or shareaza, etc you can completely cripple the upload and offer a very tiny target to the people who would like to sue you.
Bear in mind it is the upload that gets you screwed because that is the evidence that you are sharing music illegally. If you only download what would they sue you for? "Well, we offered him a song and he took it." That would make for a poor lawsuit. - inactive, on 12/28/2007, -0/+4Same here, nothing wrong with Limewire if you arnt retarded. I run a Mac anyway, so I dont give a ***** what I download. Its a lot easier to find obscure stuff on limewire, its faster than a torrent for just one song.
- snypa, on 12/28/2007, -3/+7Why? I primarily use BT for my downloading needs, but Limewire (thought I use Frostwire http://sourceforge.net/projects/frostwire/ ) isn't bad at all. No spyware etc installed, other than by downloading .exe's, which most people should know not to do.
- rabidmonkey1, on 12/28/2007, -0/+4Homer: "Aw, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. Forty percent of all people know that."
- inactive, on 12/28/2007, -1/+5cant find more obscure stuff on those. Besides instead of limewire i use frostwire. and just avoid zips and exe. i make it a rule that unless its a mp3 or avi i am not interested.
- Karasu66, on 12/28/2007, -1/+4Something tells me their numbers are wrong. Let me tell you why. I own a computer repair shop, and I can safely tell you that no less than 85% of the computers that come in to our shop with Limewire installed. Now sure, I saw a comment above about how Geek Squad cleaned a PC a week due to Limewire, but even our non-virus and spyware cases have Limewire installed, to the point where we were wondering if anyone DIDN'T use it.
- Coffeedemon, on 12/28/2007, -1/+4Or your finger slipped when picking it out of the list of 1000 files with the same name.
- daridave, on 12/28/2007, -2/+5LimeWire? Come on, Kazaa is the way to go!!! /sarcasm
- sparced, on 12/28/2007, -4/+7Ignorance breads ignorance. People who have only just purchased computers for the first time get told to use it by similarly inexperienced users at work or by friends. It's not worth the effort telling them differently, especially if you don't like them anyway.
- adml_shake, on 12/28/2007, -0/+3I don't know what BT client you've been using, but you can throttle down the upload speed on a BT file very easily. And you also must not have been following the RIAA suites very closely, because the majority of the people getting nailed are the limewire users of the world.
- inactive, on 12/28/2007, -0/+3I absolutely LOVE limewire, since I own a PC repair business. My new slogan "Limewire, paying my bills since 2004"
- quiksliver, on 12/28/2007, -1/+4if your finger slips, dont run the ***** .exe
- bigtimslim, on 12/28/2007, -0/+3hmmm I don't trust him. He's a statistician
