- kenvsryu, on 10/12/2007, -9/+159I go to limewire to get the latest virus.
- Anrkist, on 10/12/2007, -3/+120The people in the unknow always ask me what's best to use these days.. the convo usualy sounds like this..
"You pirate alot, right? Well, I use Limewire and the results just aren't good these days.. got any suggestions?"
"For you? Stick with Limewire.. I think I don't want to explain Bittorrent to you.."
"Why not?"
"Well first you have to open a port on your router..."
"Oh.. ok, yeah that sounds hard.. nevermind." - blindwisdom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+84@esotericguy
No! No, do not praise Norton, Norton bad! In the name of all that is sacred, Norton is not to be 'praised', it is to be feared, as its destructive power upon any computer is second only to the nastiest of Trojans and Mal-ware, and often worse than that. Thou shall not praise the Norton. Those were Gods words, Do Not Forget! - waterdrop, on 10/12/2007, -1/+66I don't use Limewire, but I still hope them luck in fighting off the RIAA.
- meshman, on 10/12/2007, -4/+51Is your "what" key busted?
- Salgat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+47Limewire is also on Linux, since it's java based.
- dirtyhipster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34@anrkist
I don't use/like lime wire, but yea I support them because honestly Limewire>RIAA - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+35It's not the worst app in the world really. If you're a dumbass, you'll get a virus no doubt. I always have people asking me about this 367kb mp3 they downloaded that seems to freeze their computer and doesn't play sound. But, if you're not an idiot, LimeWire has a few uses. If I can't find a single track on BT that I want, I'll just head over to LimeWire and pick it up and close it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+35wha?! you mean limewire is bad?
and i thought all this time it was protecting me from viruses... - oskite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+27If you must use Gnutella (BitTorrent ftw), download some forked project of LimeWire, such as FrostWire. Only an idiot would pay for something like LimeWire pro. Which incidentally is available free if you just search for it in... wait for it... LimeWire.
I tried to explain this to some people at school, but they didn't understand. *sigh*
@outthislife
I wait more than ten seconds for an organized album of songs. - m1ss1ontomars, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26Ditto. I will temporarily switch back to LimeWire (I'm using FrostWire right now) until Limewire wins. UHN!
- OutThisLife, on 10/12/2007, -7/+32I use LW for music.
I use BT for movies.
Why wait more than 10 seconds for a song? - captainpete, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24How can they hold Limewire responsible for people using it to "commit crimes"? That's almost like saying Natty light is responsible for my beer gut.
- Omnianimosity, on 10/12/2007, -4/+24The same people that use myspace. Coincidence, I think not.
- cinnix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23After becoming a member of OiNK, I don't think I could ever go back to p2p clients like LimeWire. Yarr harr fiddle de dee.
- RadioFreeOpium, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23I use Bittorrent for most everything but sometimes if there is like one song I want instead of downloading a whole album I use limewire. Its easy to spot false files and I haven't contacted a virus yet ( at least to my knowledge). But as far as the RIAA is concerned on the issue of filesharing in general, this is capitalism: you charge us outrageous prices for music and this is what you get in return.
- Netrilix, on 10/12/2007, -9/+27@Anrkist - I have had that conversation with people many, many times.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Apparently millions if you'd of read the article, or atleast the description.
- Blah_Blah_Blah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16I never liked LimeWire, but you have to respect them for standing up to the RIAA
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15I use gtk-gnutella, but Limewire keeps gnutella alive, so praise them!
i see no bad to this, they are against the RIAA, so i'm happy.
plus: http://duggmirror.com - Phogi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Anyone else feel that the RIAA is being rather rediculous with this one? The article said $150,000 a song right? per song! Did they expect Limewire to just lay down after that one? Really RIAA, really?
ugh - OutThisLife, on 10/12/2007, -4/+19@meshy
A "what" key? That'd get pretty annoying. - niteskunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14He just wanted to use the Ubuntu buzzword so we'd think he's cool.
- moman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+16"Go LimeWire! Most all Digg users support you!"
"LimeWire ’s popularity has never been greater and in their battle against the RIAA, millions will be cheering them on."
Everyone should put their $$$ where their mouth is and donate to the Limewire project. Don't feel like donating, then buy a copy of Limewire Pro. Its only $19 and you get much better search results, support, and a ton of other features. Plus its open source, so you know they are not evil ;-)

Help Limewire with their fight against the RIAA and get a great product at the same time! - adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14This is America, of course your not responsible for anything you do. It's all the big companies fault. Because while they are big and evil, people still go on using the product that got them into whatever situation they are in.
- captainpete, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Hey maybe if everyone posts about how useful Limewire is to download music, the RIAA will leave them alone.
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13@Anrkist
My fav people to have that conversation with are the "But, but, but I already know a lot about computers. See look I've put a new skin on my windows!" crowd who think because they hooked up all the cables they now know more about computers then everyone else. - ismith, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Sex > Money > OiNK > Limewire > Laundry > Moldy bread I find on the street > Saving the ant population > Caring about the RIAA.
My life breakdown of importance. - kris33, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Eh. You know that you can choose which files to download if you have a proper torrent client, like the one you find on www.utorrent.com
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13I go on limewire to get the latest hilarious Steven Spielberg prank call.
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I grab the album regardless. Sometimes I find a few other songs on there that I like and go see if I can buy the cd directly from the group or buy it from a used music dealer (if the company that produced it is a member of the Empire).
- d03boy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9It's a private torrent tracker
- bennyboy371, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8A virus? Why? Are you downloading 100KB wmv files of full length movies? exe files of Fireflx 3.2? 300KB mp3s encoded at 1053 kbps?
I sure as hell haven't gotten any from using it, and sometimes I don't feel like downloading an entire album to get a single song. - Rivetgeek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9@kris33
Not since so many retards rar up the whole damned thing even though mp3 isn't gonna compress any farther. - d03boy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8This is our internet. The RIAA holds no weight out here. If they keep wasting their money trying to shut down abundant technologies while new ones will pop up right around the next corner, then they're digging their own money pit. Let them digg. Pun intended.
- TheGrandGeneral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8whatever happened to shareaza..
- deskimo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7While that's an interesting explanation, I think the more likely reason for the $150,000/song damages is:
The RIAA is a ***** litigious, unscrupulous mafia cartel trying to use the apparatus of the legal system to shake down their customers by using the highest possible legal estimate for the "damages' that they receive because they've realized that their failed business model is not going to last much longer.
They are completely useless and unnecessary, having missed their chance to adapt to a new marketplace, and want to take as much money as possible with them as they go. - fucayama, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8this is fine as long as you remember to tidy up your files before letting anyone near your comp.
eg. "perfectly-regular-pr0n.mpg (hentai, rape, incest, fisting, donkeys etc....)"
nobody believes me when I tell them they all say that at the end, lol - ArielMT, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8@esotericguy
Symantec's destruction of Peter Norton's name is complete and probably has been for a few years. In addition to being resource hogs and late with updates, their products are buggy, and their support staff are rude and ignorant. For example, their answer to the problem of LiveUpdate not updating after a paid subscription renewal is to disconnect customers asking how to fix it.
Error: "Your virus protection cannot be updated" when running the Intelligent Updater

Don't expect Norton to save you from anything on LimeWire but the old stuff, and even then you're risking it might even do *that* much good. - thehoodie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Every P2P system should move to Canada, P2P is legal here.
- celerate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6If allofmp3 isn't safe in Russia, then I doubt any P2P network is safe in Canada.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Oh yes, I forgot if you mention a Linux Distro, everyone has to like you. Well he failed.

"IN SOVIET AMERICA THE RIAA ***** YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Now, my own comment. I don't really like LimeWire now that I've learned the glory of .torrents, but that's not really LimeWire's fault. There are too many people using the Gnutella network that seem to spend all their time creating self-renaming viruses and disturbingly named pornography. If LimeWire wins against the RIAA, Gnutella's community is going to need to get together and clean up the network. - Clark3934, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6The enemy of the RIAA is my friend.
- everlast88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5$150,000/songs is ridiculous, assuming each individual track WAS worth $150,000 the average CD would run you $2,250,000, Lets do some further math, IF they paid $150,000 per track, assuming there were 1,000,000 tracks on limewire (we all know theres FAR more than that) They would be forced to pay $150,000,000,000. Does the RIAA really believe that a company that distributes free P2P software has $150 billion lying around?
- niteskunk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5How can the RIAA even bitch at LimeWire? They make users say "I'M NOT GONNA USE THIS ILLEGALLY" before a download. If the users do, then it's the user's fault, not LimeWire's.
- Majin_Raditz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't use limewire, and never will use limewire. But I take my hat off to anyone who stands up to the Mafia.
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Yes, they did. I swear, so go get it and give it a whirl!

Those "idiots" are what pay the developers to improve Limewire and to help fund the fight against the RIAA. -
