- nobody2k, on 06/30/2008, -6/+301What? I was doing just fine reading 16.000 upcoming stories per day.
- kevinrose, on 06/30/2008, -3/+285Note: The old 'upcoming' is still there, it will be a single click to switch back if you prefer the old site.
- albiniak, on 06/30/2008, -27/+193for the sake of anonymity, we'll call the source "kevin r."
- Tribis, on 06/30/2008, -10/+171Great now I can get MrBabyMan stories delivered to me in real-time.
- peteophile44, on 06/30/2008, -3/+128No, that's too obvious...uuuh, let's say K. Rose.
- AmazingAndrex, on 06/30/2008, -2/+120I like how even though this screenshot is "leaked" you still fully endorse and digg it. :) No really, it's nice some people don't throw NDA forms all over the place.
- tripledjr, on 06/30/2008, -3/+114The irony of a leaked Digg image ending up on front page of Digg makes me cry tears of love for Digg.
- guillebravo6, on 06/30/2008, -5/+85This story is hitting the Front Page gauranteed, nice post
- Gryffydd, on 06/30/2008, -3/+80Dude, no need to tell us down to the thousands decimal place...
/Kidding but seriously, every time I see the "." thousands separator I get a momentary page fault error in my brain. - elshizzo, on 06/30/2008, -1/+75Digg-harmony will find your one true digg soul mate :D
- fluidfoundation, on 06/30/2008, -3/+75Get your copiers running, Mixx!
- TH3W1R3D, on 06/30/2008, -1/+54I really hope those pics are real. Looks impressive.
- mnortei, on 06/30/2008, -0/+42of course it is. Digg loves stories about Digg.
- donkz, on 06/30/2008, -1/+40Can we also get male/female indicator?
- YesImAChick, on 06/30/2008, -3/+37or your username
- neuens07, on 06/30/2008, -1/+33Unless of course the title is "This is Why I Love Digg"
Thankfully we have stopped front paging that ***** - Acglaphotis, on 06/30/2008, -4/+32Maybe he's from latin america or spain, we do it that way ( ',' is the separator for decimals, like 2.4 would be 2,4) and it gets confusing.
- specialK16, on 06/30/2008, -2/+29Glad at least SOMEONE got the reference.
Dugg for the Simpsons! - richbradshaw, on 06/30/2008, -1/+20When will this be live?
- seandfeeney, on 06/30/2008, -3/+22Dugg by Kevin Rose so it must be accurate.
- Mononuclear, on 06/30/2008, -5/+23most the rest of the world uses , as the decimal place and . as the thousands. US likes to have it's own little way for things that tends to screw anyone from the US when they travel abroad. IE miles, feet, pounds, Fahrenheit, etc.
- bigwillystyle, on 07/01/2008, -0/+17hows that for irony
- sdcarter, on 06/30/2008, -1/+18Will this make it easier for me to get my lolcats, xkcd, and re.re.re.re.OMG! Internet Classics fix for the day?
OH! I've got it! In the submission area, create something like "Users who posted similar stories like - 4chan, icanhascheezeburger, and cracked.com"
Dammit, Digg! Don't let me down! Be awesome again! - inactive, on 06/30/2008, -7/+23Yeah, like the digg server can really handle a recommendation engine...half of the time it can't deliver my friends list, how will it be able to parse all my data and recommend stories in relatively real-time?
- RachaelMichele, on 06/30/2008, -1/+16What for?
- SirPopper, on 06/30/2008, -0/+15TechCrunch has insider knowledge ;-D
'The Upcoming section allows users to sort by category, freshness, number of diggs and number of comments, but the sheer volume of stories means it’s nearly impossible to find interesting news. The new Recommendation Engine section will be replacing Upcoming entirely from what we hear.' - joestump, on 06/30/2008, -1/+15The duplicate engine is horrible. We know it, you know it, people who don't use Digg know it. We've got a working prototype using LSH (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Locality_sensitive_ha ... that should be rolling out in the coming months. We'll also be moving the duplicate detection to before you enter the information. As for image detection we use the awesome Idee service, which works exceptionally well.
Also, the Recommendation Engine is working just fine. We'll be bringing it up one cylinder at a time Real Soon Now. Or not. Who knows. Well, I do. Oh, how I love to tease. Seriously, real soon now. - digjam, on 06/30/2008, -0/+14"COMPATIBILITY" ??????????
Digg.com IS turning into Match.com ! - matito10, on 06/30/2008, -2/+13Dugg for the word Mythical.
- Vazelos, on 06/30/2008, -1/+12I will sure give it a try but I will be cautious as I don't want to limit myself of stories to read. That one story from a topic that I don't usually digg can sometimes be very interesting.
- BrendanSheehan, on 06/30/2008, -1/+12They use mixers.
- bpapa, on 06/30/2008, -1/+10Maybe this is why "cloud view" disappeared?
- vvaduva, on 06/30/2008, -1/+9Yeah...leaked, released...what's the difference? :)
- defaultdigger, on 06/30/2008, -0/+7noob
- h0zae, on 06/30/2008, -1/+8video http://blog.digg.com/?p=127
- megamod, on 06/30/2008, -2/+9if all "16,000" of your diggs per day match all of my diggs and we're like super-duper-ultra digger buddy compatible we should hangout sometime =). This thing is going to be better than match.com.
- joestump, on 06/30/2008, -1/+8Not it's not. This works exceptionally well for blocking spam content. If you don't Digg the same stories as spammers (highly unlikely as you probably don't Digg spam) you won't see any spam. If you DO Digg spammy stories then you'll only see spam. The whole point is to only see stuff you're most likely interested in based on previous Digging history.
- inactive, on 06/30/2008, -1/+8Well, that was confirmed quick ~ cool. I'm down, I just hope it doesn't slow anything down ^^.
- zeabu, on 06/30/2008, -1/+7You're familiar with burried.com I see.
- sfrench, on 06/30/2008, -0/+6No, we don't actually drive the recommendation engine using APML. However, we do generate APML documents in your user profile. If you log into your user profile, right next to "Most Dugg Topics (last 30 days)", you should see an APML feed icon (little green icon).
- Gryffydd, on 06/30/2008, -1/+7Here's a list of the format used by various countries
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thousands_separator#E ... - OWNAGETIME, on 06/30/2008, -0/+6This isn't leaked.... there is a video on the digg blog... the people at techcrunch simply took screenshots of the video showing all of this and more....
- Hefelumpman, on 06/30/2008, -1/+7I wouldn't be surprised if the majority of the time spent on implementation was devoted to scalability. We don't know how the system was implemented, or what classification methodology they used. Hell, we don't know *anything*
- ultrafez, on 06/30/2008, -0/+6@LeonidasStokely
Our measurement system (metric) is the easiest to calculate with though... I never did understand the attraction with the imperial system. - MrCalifornia, on 06/30/2008, -1/+6I really hope they carry this functionality over to the rss feeds. Personalized RSS is a must.
- HunterSlayer, on 06/30/2008, -1/+6From social network to dating site. As long as I don't get paired up with guys then I'm all for it.
Jokes, looks like a good idea, hopefully it will turn out to be relevant and useful. - Kyan, on 06/30/2008, -1/+6Increased factionalization would be a huge step forward as far as I'm concerned. You never Digg or comment on RonPaul? He'll never make it to your recommendation page.
Even better, try this: the ability to digg or bury a source site. Like all websites from which stories have been submitted over the past day, week, month are on a side bar in my profile. And I can go through and bury, huffingtonpost, jedreport, dailymail, etc, etc and Digg bbc, washingtonpost, iht, nyt. And story from a page with a huge bury index should need several million diggs to get to the front page. Digg me up if you agree with that. - mhuggins, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5Literally? So he put his fist in your mouth, or what?
- inactive, on 06/30/2008, -0/+5but that would make guys highly disadvantaged for getting diggs/thumbsup :(
