- monsoon86, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25I'd rather get it from microsoft's site, not yahoo. And I suspect most people will as well.
- jdivis, on 10/12/2007, -5/+23Get IE7 from the source: http://www.IE7.com
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+19Wow. Only six years until IE8, then.
- TurdFurgison, on 10/12/2007, -17/+31Get it while it hot? Why would anyone do that?
Firefox rocks. - Gregd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx
Original Source - monsoon86, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I didn't say it wasn't, but i'd still rather get it from microsoft than the site posted above.
- mariusaz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12This is blogspam. Marked as spam.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Even though I don't plan to use it, I still wanna upgrade.
I'd much rather have IE7 on my computer than IE5 or IE6. - soogy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Why are you digging down Cymrubeats? Because he's not blindly supporting Firefox? Grow up, read some facts: http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/browserSpeed.html#winspeed
Firefox 1.5
17.26 2.74 1.52 1.58 21 2.85 38
Firefox 2.0
11.64 3.05 1.71 1.62 22 2.03 48
Internet Explorer 7.0 (b3)
7.80 2.40 2.13 1.47 36 2.47 39
FF1.5 only beats IE7 in CSS rendering (1.52 vs 2.13), with JavaScript (21 vs 36) and very narrowly in history (38 vs 39).
FF2 gets much slower and more bloated, and loses one of the two it beats IE7 in (history). CSS rendering drops to 1.71.
Opera is the leader of every test on there, though. Mostly 9, three go to 6. - ComputerGuru, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10BS.
Microsoft hasn't updated their site yet. Big whoop. Via email they have confirmed its release to thousands of beta testers.

You can't delete IE from your computer. - doubleblack, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10IE7 IS OUT IN FINAL ON MICROSOFT.COM!
I have been trying to submit this for the last hour, but the submit script keeps timing out...
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=74211
Go get it! - misterpony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Anyone installed this yet? What's the deal? Is this legit?
- heycasey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It seems to be legit. You can download Yahoo's copy, open it with Winzip or WinRAR, and extract just the ie7-setup.exe file. Install that, and you won't have the "Yahoo bloat". I just did this, and it's showing version 7.0.5730.11
- Quix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I can't wait to see the groundbreaking innovation in IE7!
/sarcasm - econoar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6People are actually excited about this? I thought IE was used in the caveman era...
- ComputerGuru, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Its real enough. Check the file then speak, don't be a prick.
- spisska, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Anybody know where I can find the Ubuntu debs? A tarball's okay too, I don't mind compiling.
- Ben174, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4This *IS* legit... Yahoo has accidently released the Internet Explorer 7 Gold release early . Download the self-extracting exe from http://downloads.yahoo.com/internetexplorer/index.php then extract and delete everything except the file IE7-Setup.exe ... That will give you the final build of IE7 without any Yahoo branding. This release was digitally signed on October 17th with a build number is 7.0.5730.11.
- econoar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5@lakawak
I hope you're kidding. - 0KonTroL0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Geez guys, its news and that is it......
- Quix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Thank you, Microsoft PR Department.
- Onibus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"You must validate!" :*(
http://www.google.com/search?q=ie7+validation+bypass
Yay :D
Too bad it only works for the RC version... for now. - itsawebsite22, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4@lakawak
Firefox is a blip. A major blip.
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp
Firefox has 27.3% market share compared to the 55% of IE (62.1% if you count IE5 and IE7) from September. That's almost half of IE's share. - ComputerGuru, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7That's what the uploaded exe on NeoSmart's site is: it's the original, Microsoft-signed IE7 installer - without the Yahoo! junk.
- bsummersett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That web survey is based on hits from w3schools, a web developer site. The percentages for firefox usage there almost certainly don't represent what the actual total percentage is.
- Roger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@cds0528:
That doesn't delete anything.
All it does is hide IE. - Cymrubeats, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I don't mind getting fugg down, it's the nature of things nowadays it seems. If i wasd outright bashing it for no reason then i'd deserve it, but i've recently (i mean r.e.ce.n.t.l.y, i was using Avant til monday night :)) ) became an FF user, and i'm very happy, it's now 'my broswer'. But just crapping on something for no reason, that turns more people off than it would attract.
If someone's happy with I.E, and people say 'but it does this bad and does that bad', and the person is like, uum.....no it doesn't, they'll never move on, but if they get outright fact, and told of potential issues etc, then they'll much more likely, in the least, give it a try. Opera is another great browser, it just didn't fit the way i done things. I feel no allegience to anything, it's a web browser, not my partner :P so i'll still download new releases of opera to try them out and see if they're at where i need/want them to be.
There's so so sooooo much real benefit in moving from I.E to opera or ff, there's no need for lies, no need at all.
@itsawebsite22: If yours is faster becuase you have 'tweaked it' or use fasterfox, then that's fine for you, but i feel very sorry for websites that don't have infinite bandwidth, and to support them, i'd never uses those 'tweaks'. - Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Awesome....so good to have a better IE
- rcran, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Don't make spelling mistakes while flaming the flamers.
- Cymrubeats, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5@itsawebsite22: I'm now an ff user and it is NOT much faster in any respect at all, that is an outright lie. It's speed is not something that's putting me off as we're only talking seconds slower (or hours if you count the time it takes to openj :| j/k :P ), but cut that crap right out, why the ***** should people have to be LIED to?
If i started using it based on what people said, then i'd be sorely disappointed (as i was the 10's of times i had tried it before expecting the hype to kick in). Luckily i decided to use it for my own needs, and although a few things are a let down, i'm not turning back, but please, quit the crap...that's NOT what moving onto FF is all about. - jcapogna, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Ha ha, thats awesome, somebody registered it before MS could.
- Quix, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5Support a liberated Web. Use non-proprietary, cross-platform browsers.
- ting, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Sheesh, this "we heard you" sounds too arrogant for my taste. It's like they do some big favor to the world instead of desperately trying to save their greedy asses after major fu**-up.
- itsawebsite22, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3@Cymrubeats: Everyone is different, and I have found my experience with Firefox faster than with IE. You are entitled to your opinion, I'm entitled to mine, and so is everyone else. Some may choose IE, other may choose Firefox. I chose Firefox.
- mariusaz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4OH NO! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!
- spinalcracker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I am running VISTA RC2 right now and the version that came with it is 7.0.5744.16384 which seems to be higher than 7.0.5730.11, which is probably just the optimized version for yahoo... whatever that means.
- spritom, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Very excited! This is job security for a few more years. And once IE7 goes on Automatic Updates in a few weeks, then it's overtime city! I can save up money for a new Linux box!
- jguerry, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3hahaha i just spilled my milk
- milkmage, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1hahahahahah! someone sent me the same link this AM - digg.
- cds0528, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Actually you can kind of delete it (but not entirely). By that I mean go to add/remove windows components and remove IE from the list. It's kinda nice.
- cypherz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1WHAAAT?!? No OS X version!?!11!??!
(I'm so disappointed!)
*sigh* - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2i hate IE the new IE is very lame, i cant believe MS even makes you pass the wga check to use it, they should be happy that anyone uses it at all . Firefox is so great, sadly, we still have some IE only web sites, just yesterday i tried to apply for a job online and it said " please upgrade your browser to Internet explorer to view this site" I didnt even bother to appy at that point ( after all, if they are that closed minded and MS only, who wants to work there? ) i took it as a bad sign
- jguerry, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1i wouldn't have applied either. i'd give them a call though and let them know that they're missing out on some of the best people by being ms-only.
- GoneDigging, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2IE 7 OK I've been using it since last summer its nice but fire fox still owns its ass I've been using vista since last year too. is got widgets which are nice like CPU performance weather stock ticker and gadget news
- jguerry, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I LOVE THE "WE HEARD YOU" PART @ http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/default.mspx !
Microsoft ONLY began improving IE when Firefox became #1. So in reality, they heard us, but they don't really give a damn! - rcran, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Well I'm sure the Jehovah's Witnesses don't 'wnat' hear it either.
- everdrkn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1It's on MajorGeeks site as well
http://majorgeeks.com/Internet_Explorer_7_d4955.html - dominasian, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0why delete it
its like an unused tool, you keep it for manhood/in this case geekdom
i keep them because they look cool
+ there are still ie only sites - hdar3415, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Firefox all the way. And Chevy is better than Ford.
