- inactive, on 06/13/2008, -3/+139YES! As soon as it is classed as a disorder we can all go on disability, get psychotropic drugs, and spend all day on Digg! Win win situation, people!
- angusm, on 06/13/2008, -3/+104Revised terminology to accompany this decision:
cybercafe: "crack house"
bandwidth: "dope"
internet service provider: "pusher"
personal computer: "works" or "drug paraphernalia"
internet user: "junkie"
person who works in order to be able to afford broadband: "crack whore"
social networking site: "shooting gallery" - nickc321, on 06/13/2008, -4/+77LOL- I guess no comments yet because we are all afraid to admit we have problems.....
- Surefly, on 06/13/2008, -2/+44Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.
- twiztidsinz, on 06/14/2008, -4/+46So when's religion going to be added?
- inactive, on 06/13/2008, -7/+36See sites liek digg are turning you all into RETARDS. Meanwhile Kevin and Jay are buying new cars and bigger houses.
FUK YOU KEVIN and FUK YOU DIGG.
... Oh look a butterfly... Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee - str1fe, on 06/14/2008, -1/+23If internet addiction is made a mental disorder, I demand reading addiction, sports addiction, and shopping addiction also be made mental disorders. Might as well be fair to everyone if we're applying the word "addiction" to anything people do a lot.
- inactive, on 06/14/2008, -1/+17and cut your internet connection?
IT'S NOT WORTH IT, BUDDY
I'M HERE FOR YOU, GUY
WE'LL GET OVER THIS, FRIEND - inactive, on 06/13/2008, -3/+19That's totally awesome dude, that's a pretty chill idea you got bro.
- blarger, on 06/14/2008, -1/+16I'm not addicted to the internet, I'm addicted to free knowledge and information. If I could get these without having to spend a bunch of time in front of a glowing screen, I'd be happy to. I eagerly await my Google Neural implant.
- Neagrigore, on 06/13/2008, -3/+17If Google were a drug, would I smoke it? No, but I will try to monetize it, pay per puff
- inactive, on 06/14/2008, -0/+14how long did it take you to come up with all that? be honest
- twiztidsinz, on 06/14/2008, -0/+12Says the guy who posted "LOLSCIENTOLOGY"
- xtinamo, on 06/14/2008, -1/+12I thought that was schizophrenia?
- LinkGCN4, on 06/14/2008, -0/+10Who cares? It was a comical list. I especially enjoyed the dope part.
- Colonial, on 06/14/2008, -0/+10run MrBabyman!
- sonicm, on 06/14/2008, -0/+8LOLSCIENTOLOGY.
- sonicm, on 06/14/2008, -0/+7Inaccurate Title--It's not actually being added to the DSM-V, someone just proposed that. This is hardly news; I'm sure much crazier 'diseases' have been proposed.
- inactive, on 06/13/2008, -6/+13Diggmentia
- cyssero, on 04/18/2009, -0/+6My favourite was "pusher".
Maybe we can add:
404: "can't find my crack"
509: "out of dope" - inactive, on 06/14/2008, -1/+7Problem? I don't have a problem... I can leave the internet whenever I want... I just have to digg one more article first...
- FreeTalkLIve, on 06/14/2008, -1/+6Can I get a government check for this problem?
- aphexcoil, on 06/14/2008, -1/+6Every time I refresh Digg's main page, I feel like I'm unwrapping a present each time.
- staeiou, on 06/14/2008, -1/+6No, when you are diagnosed with Internet Addiction you go to a rehab center in ***** Nowhere, Pennsylvania that is run by the Amish.
- hiPpymIck, on 06/14/2008, -0/+4apart maybe from the actual.. spend
all day on Digg bit.. - Pake, on 06/14/2008, -1/+5World of Warcraft, now serving over 9 million people with mental disabilities!
Considering the symptoms, we may as well just list off gamers in general. - inactive, on 06/14/2008, -2/+6Nah, their wrapping paper is so damn ugly
- Jernej, on 06/13/2008, -1/+5I really wonder how a persion withour any mental problems would look like and function in the community..
- thumperings, on 06/14/2008, -0/+4Yea, but if you want better presents, go to Reddit.
- ifoughtfate, on 06/14/2008, -1/+5Maybe homophobia should be added.
- buddyw, on 06/14/2008, -1/+5I think "Redundant" is a better word to describe it. Addiction can happen with anything that feels good or that you enjoy whether it's heroin, food, sex, or the internet. You can't have a page for everything you can possibly be addicted to.
- Atomic1fire, on 06/14/2008, -0/+4is it dsl or lsd
woah I just noticed this now but dsl is lsd backwards - J16T3CH, on 06/14/2008, -0/+4Two years until we see an internet addict on "Intervention"
- zephyr42, on 06/14/2008, -0/+4yum.....
/toke - Atomic1fire, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3No
the first place that gets busted in a crack bust - SilverBlade2k, on 06/14/2008, -1/+4Looks like I have a mental disorder then..
- saWgurr, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3definitely have this addiction...hahah
- beasty_dave_Mk2, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3woot, my addiction must not be as bad as I thought cause while I knew all the meme's from teh pork and beans video (but 2), I dont know perez hiltons face....well...
I do now....
*****. - JasonCox, on 06/14/2008, -2/+5ADD :-)
- sonicm, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3Actually he's playing a videogame, or at least that's what the original said.
- Virgule, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3Mental disorder or not, I find myself doing many hours long internet sessions. There is always something interesting to click. I like to think its better (by "better" I mean "less bad") than watching TV for 6 hours a day... I am _active_ on the internet and can focus my attention on things that matters to me whenever I goddamn please. I am confident in affirming I learn more in a day on the internet than a week at school.
Also, you can't take away my internets. Expect a very enthusiast resistance. - mightyslick, on 06/13/2008, -3/+6I am sure that this can be better classified using certain social disorders rather then adding it as its own disorder. That would be like saying because this guy who base jumps has a base jumping addiction and the other guy who climbs with no ropes has a no rope climbing addiction rather then just saying they are both adrenalin junkies.
- ajb2015, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3Web abuse? I think I could have far worse problems.
- roflbrothel, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2Scientol-oh damnit, someone beat me to it.
More like ScientLOLogy, amirite? - ifoughtfate, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2People can be addicted to anything, including the internet. I'm not sure why we would try to put everything into a book.
But yeah, I can see this being over-diagnosed, and it does seem kind of like again, people are saying that doing anything outside of the norm is somehow a 'disorder'. - witchdoctor117, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2Excellent reply buddyw. Although there are things which have a chemical addiction evolved, one can develop a psychological addiction to anything.
- swrostmore, on 06/14/2008, -1/+3So how the ***** do you cure it? Can I get doctors in CA to prescribe pot for it?
- ThecNiqueMan, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit amphetamines.
