  • calebb, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I'm not a hot chick - heh - I just made some videos of a fun game (DesktopTD) and posted them on youtube. Whenever I post a new one, I end up being in the top 10 viewed videos for Gadgets & Games for the day.

    I usually try to pick some cool / unique creative commons music (so I'm not infringing on anyone's copyright). My personal favorites are old video game remixes :)

    It's easy to make videos of desktop applications on your computer - there's an open source application, http://www.camstudio.org/ , that works very well. If you're going to be fast-forwarding your video, you can lower the framerate down to 5FPS or less so it really doesn't slow your PC down much to do the capture. Plus you can encode directly to divx or xvid or any other codec you have installed...

    If everyone is busy trying to get attention, that leaves no audience. I'd rather watch good stuff than be a star myself anyway.

YouTube is great because you don't have to follow the rules. If I wanted to watch videos where everyone was following the "Be a Star" formula, I'd turn on the television.
