- afruff23, on 10/12/2007, -13/+44Bliq, trust me. We sell stuff cheaper than New Egg, but the business is a 4 legged business. I make money other ways.
Besides I own 75 million dollars of farm land, bankruptcy isn't a problem for a really long time.
While we are on the bankruptcy topic.....
Newegg.com went bankrupt 6 times last year, and was bought out by tons of different US distribution offices.
newegg.com is an over-rated shipping warehouse, the only reason that they are still around is that large distribution companies like D&H, who legally owns newegg.com now, uses it as an outlet to move outdated products.
Fedex, and UPS hate newegg.com because they lose money on everything they ship. Plus newegg doesn't offer support.
Don't worry, I've done my homework. I just didn't do it in High School.
I was to busy programming Video Games, besides we support open source.
It's not a marketing ploy, that would make me evil in denial, Like Google...
On the google topic, f*** google. They are just like microsoft, in fact some of their EULA's are even more disgusting than Apples.
Sun Microsystems, SUN = Stanford University Network.
Old Rinkley Balled Owner of Sun Microsystems (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Bechtolsheim) gave Sergey Brin, and Larry Page $100,000.00 , and they basically stole some sh*t just like Microsoft did.
Btw, f*** Stanford University. These old rich fodder f***s that run our market and country really piss me off.
Google began as a research project in January 1996 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, two Ph.D. students at Stanford University, California.[10] They hypothesized that a search engine that analyzed the relationships between websites would produce better results than existing techniques, which essentially ranked results according to the number of times the search term appeared on a page.[11] Their search engine was originally nicknamed, "BackRub" because the system checked backlinks to estimate a site's importance.[12] A small search engine called Rankdex was already exploring a similar strategy.[13]
Thanks for being a Hypocrite like Mac.
So Why is Microsoft still in business?
Obviously, it’s not for its security model. Redmond has only recently begun to pay more than lip-service to its efforts at securing its operating system by including firewall software with recent service packs for XP (although it’s still turned off by default). See if some of the following names mean anything to you: Melissa, Blaster, Nimda, Slammer, NetSky and Bagle? Sound familiar? These virii have mostly been propagated throughout the net by Windows installations that should have been patched by Microsoft before the operating system shipped. Instead, Redmond ships insecure systems and admonishes users to frequently update their machines via Windows Update, a mechanisim whereby they can shove their unwanted DRM project down the throats of inattentive users.
Continued Windows use isn’t due to Microsoft’s innovative software either. Most of the software that Microsoft has “produced” itself was either bought or stolen from other companies. MS-DOS, which built the MS empire, wasn’t even written by Gates. He bought the rights to QDOS from Tim Paterson of Seattle Computer Products for $50,000 without disclosing the fact that he was intending to license the product to IBM for several times that amount.
The majority of software Windows users can’t live without aren’t even produced by Microsoft. Barring its Office suite, the three “must-have” pieces of software for Windows users, Photoshop, Flash and Quicken, are produced by Adobe, Macromedia and Intuit, respectively. Various other third-party software vendors (Roxio, MusicMatch, Nullsoft, etc.) that haven’t gotten around to (and/or refuse to) port their software, round out the list.
So, if people aren’t using Windows for its secure, innovative, in-house produced software, why are they sticking around? A monopoly can’t stay a monopoly if it doesn’t continue to generate revenue, why do users continue to pay money to a company that produces, at best, mediocre software? The answer is obvious, once you’ve read it…
Microsoft products don’t make their customers feel stupid.
Much like “outcome-based education”, Microsoft has engineered it’s software for the bottom denominator, the most dense user imaginable. A first-time Windows user can reasonably feel their way around their computer and accomplish basic computing tasks–browsing the ‘net, sending email, listening to music, etc. When they’re stumped, “Windows Help” does a fairly good job of helping. Every setting and resource has a GUI users can click through until they stumble across the correct setting. Tech support for Windows comes in, primarily, with two options–reboot or reinstall. When problems arise that the tech support can’t handle, Redmond has done a superb job of placating the users with the phrase, “it’ll be fixed in the next release”.
There are several other examples of Microsoft’s “innovation”.
Close Combat-Popular game purchased from Atomic Games
Flight Simulator-Purchased from the Bruce Artwick Organisation
Age of Empires-Collabaration with Ensemble studios(Gopal R S)
FrontPage-Microsoft’s HTML editor was purchased from Vermeer Technologies in 1996
FoxPro-This database application came along with Microsoft’s purchase of Fox Software in 1986
Internet Explorer-Desperate to play catch-up in the fast-moving Internet world Microsoft licensed code from Spyglass Inc one of the two licensees of the original Mosaic code base in 1995 and called it MSIE Microsoft then proceeded to distribute MSIE for free denying Spyglass substantial royalties for their key contribution to the product
MS-DOS-The original Microsoft cash cow, this CP/M clone, then called Q-DOS, was purchased from the Seattle Computer company in 1981. Microsoft then proceeded to thwart Seattle Computer’s license rights to the product. The tiny company sued Microsoft and prevailed in court.
Object Linking Environment (OLE)-Microsoft settled a suit with Wang Labs over patent infringement code portions of OLE which is also the heart of Microsoft’s ActiveX
PowerPoint-This presentation software package was renamed and re-branded after Microsoft’s purchase of Forethought Inc in 1987
SQL Server-This important database product is based on code purchased from Sybase in 1988
Visual Basic-Ruby, the foundation for Microsoft’s highly important Visual Basic product, was purchased from Cooper Software in 1991
Visual C-Microsoft purchased the Lattice C code compiler which became Visual C, Microsoft’s software development environment
Visual SourceSafe-Purchased from OneTree Software. Shortly after OneTree’s SourceSafe was released, Microsoft preannounced a similar application called Microsoft Delta which failed to sell. Microsoft then purchased OneTree and renamed SourceSafe as Microsoft Visual SourceSafe.
Windows-Technologies used in Windows multitasking came to Microsoft with their purchase of Dynamical Systems in 1986. Portions of the interface were licensed from Apple Computer, also in 1986
XENIX-Microsoft’s version of Unix was actually written under contract by the Santa Cruz Operation(SCO)

Sorry to register just to post on this thread, but this has to be said.
ZioSys is a hoax. ZioSys is clearly comprised entirely of one megalomaniacal teenager that somehow got a merchant account, one slightly modified free website template and some paperwork filed with the state of Kentucky. Their facilities consist entirely of one crappy apartment in suburban Lexington.
Instead of building an actual business, Brad is obsessed with the trappings of legitimacy. Hence the fake Microsoft certification, claiming that they make MSI's gear, ripping off NewEgg's verbiage, etc. All 4 positive reviews on Reseller Ratings are clearly fake posts. The first two have identical profiles and the same post date; they even use the same phraseology. Same profiles and post dates for the second two positives. Interestingly, the negatives all tell similar stories: paid, waited forever, no product. My guess is that ZioSys doesnt keep any stock at all; they take the money and then maybe ship if they can find the ordered parts at a retailer cheap enough to make a profit.
Brad's posts read like they were written by someone with rapidly cycling bipolar disorder. He goes on manic, incoherent rants, quickly apologies, then on to the next rant. His claims are contradictory because he doesn't or cant think them out ahead of time. He also has a bizarre habit of pretending to be different people in order to gloss over his previous weirdness. When no one buys it, he claims its all part of his grand plan. In the video posted above, he claims that all of this bad publicity was a ploy to get people to recognize ZioSys "as [he] wanted them to." Consider this gem from the ZioSys site: "Just as language was key in creating organized societies in the early stages of human life, so is information key to helping man go beyond the boundaries of those societies into a new age of human development. Zio Systems will be the foundation for that development and much, MUCH, more." ZioSys is no simple reseller, it's the catalyst for the next evolution of mankind.
My guess is that Brad's laughable overreaction to criticism comes from the mismatch between his feelings of grandeur (see his bit about shutting Bill Gates up) and his lowly station in life. That people don't instantly defer to him makes no sense and is simply intolerable. - alphaborie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Get the f*** off my back, my marketing efforts will dominate your face. -- ZioSystems

>Delusions of grandeur - for example when you believe that you are very special or have special powers or abilities. An example of a grandiose delusion is thinking you are a famous rock star.
-Disorganized speech: Another obvious one. He thoughts are all over the place and incoherent, often times not even addressing the points that are put in front of him and dodging the issues with random excuses that hold no water. And while I really can't fault someone for their poor spelling and grammar, his is abysmal. For someone who is trying to come across as a competent business owner he is killing his own reputation. Not only that but he curses (albeit censored cursing) in his own business advertisements.
-Also (nearly jokingly) he comments on his own products and services with other usernames: clearly multiple personalities!
_______________
Other interesting points:
In one of his (plagiarized) rants he talks about how he despises corporate fat cats with their "daddy's trust funds", yet he constantly spews about how his grandfather left him $75M in Alabama farmland.
On his "about" page of his company's website, he says:
"We have highly trained and knowledgeable phone technicians, as well as quick responses to all technical problems in 100% English."
but then on the same page, says:
"Zio Systems™ focuses on language as a core value for employees....We have many employees that already speak other languages...Most of the software we use on our systems is multilingual and supports almost every language that is commonly used....Among those who work at Zio Systems, languages spoken are Spanish, English, German, Russian, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese.....Although the phone systems will only be setup to support English and Spanish for the time being, the website will be translated into many more languages than those listed above."
Also, he says he specialized in web design, but his company's website uses a Joomla template.
I'm sure I could go on for hours, but I don't really feel like wasting any more of my time thinking about this wacko. - mikaelc, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20Most of the long rant on page 2 is actually just pasted from: http://grimthing.com/archives/2004/04/09/why-people-continue-to-use-microsoft-windows/

I've seen it too many times over the years from too many different people.
What it boils down to is this:
- Reality likely has no bearing on his claims and commitments. As far as he's concerned, he can move mountains.
- In true WWE style, he'll talk the talk of a big-time bad-ass CEO.
- He's probably too inexperienced to know that, outside of the entertainment industry, when you bring drama into business, you will look unprofessional and ultimately fail.
- If he was actually employed by a large corporation at any point (Dell, in this case), they probably fired him for being a dick who mistakenly thought he was right and they were wrong.
- Although he claims to employ many, he is likely his only employee.
- I'll give you three guesses as to where his "warehouse" is, and the first two don't count.
- While he claims to be too busy to help his customers, he likely has all the time in the world.
- He will likely fail, not change the world, and end up back at work for the corporate America he so despises in a year or two. Or in prison.
Frankly, if you send money to someone that's operating like that, you deserve precisely what you get. Chalk it up to youthful stupidity and move on. Sad thing is, I'm sure there are lots of successful 18-year-olds with legit operations that actually deserve to get the spotlight.
Prospective entrepreneurs should take note. If this clown can attract and lose customers while allegedly screwing things up so badly, you can attract them and keep them for the long term. - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12How did Michael Dell become one of the world's richest men? It wasn't by pissing off customers. He only started that later (once you make that first billion the pressure is off). I remember when Dell was just one of dozens of system vendors, hardly distinguishable from the pack. They must have done something to pull ahead...could it have been Internet flamewars? Taking customers' money and not delivering? Being an eccentric dick, not answering the phone, having a generic storefront, advertising in bizarre locations?
- OsiVert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12@stevemax
