- DigiDave, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I'm heading out to BarCamp as I submit this. It should be pretty interesting.
Things to bring.
1. Photo ID
2. A smile
3. A laptop + power brick + power strip or extension cord
4. Camping chair or bean bag.
6. Things to eat and share with others
7. Sleepover stuff: sleeping bag, toothbrush, pillow, jammies,
bedtime stories
8. Paper, pens, markers
9. Nice socks (BarCamp is a shoeless event) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+18i440
give it a rest you troll. you couldn't hack your way out of a cardboard box. - foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Have fun, and keep your firewalls and whatever security you have up. I learnt to keep my Bluetooth off on my computer the hard-way.
- Odweaver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8What about sandals?
- pxujn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Finally, someone else who uses the word "jammies"! w00t!
- DigiDave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it is a shoeless event.... my feet are cold right now.
But it adds to the informal nature of the convention and makes it feel more like a Salon. - HardSide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I heard its a shoeless event, for the reason of the fbi eh? you can still spot a agent by the glasses he/she wears or the watches.
- deuceswilde, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like how three of the hackers in that picture are using Macs. Subversion perhaps?
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The third is prolly using Linux or BSD
- DigiDave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The final story on BarCamp is up: http://digg.com/tech_news/At_BarCamp_Form_Trumps_Substance_2
Check it out - diggdong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Maybe they will eat some mushrooms and fix the yahoo music engine... Sitting in an apartment is not camping - it is couch surfing.
"Use your yahoo tools for killing wildlife."
Ted Nudejunt - funk49, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1No mention of Toorcon?? Bah...
- Crackshot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2If camping is an outdoor activity that potentially exposes someone to the elements and thereby the sun isn't "Hacker camp out" an oxymoron?
- .Steven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Don't forget the roll of al foil! :)

I'm bashing open source, not you. In fact, I am pretty sure I have romantic interest in you.
<333333333 - i440, on 10/12/2007, -35/+31 And guys, I know this is very much against your culture, but please, daily showers are a good thing.
2 Hackers!? Aren't they illegal?
3 Hopefully, this particular camp won't involve overly rushed exploration of the outside world. Hackers must be carefully transitioned outdoors in a planned, self-paced manner. And at first, severe withdrawl symptoms are common
