- Dhalgren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1RealPlayer? Ewww!
I thought Google knew us? - dracula7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1it should be noted:: pack.google.com & google.com/pack redirect to a logon screen... but before that
http://pack.google.com/pack/pack_installer.html
so basically, this is completely legit - ct2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The software bundle will include the open source Firefox Web browser, a version of Norton AntiVirus software from Symantec Corp. Adobe Systems Inc.'s Reader software and RealNetworks Inc.'s RealPlayer multimedia software ......
ohhh stop the press !!! - jimmy0x52, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why would google release a pack with trillian and not gtalk?
Sounds like a bunch of speculation/hooey to me. - RadicalBender, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1>Watch out M$ and Apple, Google's making the first move of the year.
Well, except for that move by Apple two days ago to announce new content from Disney/ABC/ESPN, but clearly submitter just really isn't paying attention. - kkaabboomm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0besides realplayer (which i've heard is apparently, like, a nice application now...) pack sounds like something i'd install on a grandma's new computer as an easy way to just install it and be done with it. it'd say me the hassle of individually installing *most* of these things, and let grandma get on with being grandma checking her email, without having to worry about security (with spyware removal, virus scanning, and a not IE browser) - very basic security for grandma. plus she can use google desktop to find her pictures of me.
- fohat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For those that don't like RealPlayer, an almost viable alternative is Cowan's Jetaudio player which will play real media files. I have trouble getting it to stream content though.
I;m interested to see if this is indeed going to happen, I hate coming here and reading stuff like "blah blah plans to announce" and then it all gets rescinded.... - Funkly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this doesnt sound good
- dickyducky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0w00t? Norton? wtf!!
- tsupersonic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Norton? Come on, I thought you were better than that Google. You could've gone with AVG or something else, but Norton?
- dickyducky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so the antivirus that powers gmail behind the sin, imean "scene", is *drum rollsss*:
N_O_R_T_O_N - dickyducky, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0btw, Google Video sukz, i mean the quality/UI
- Soulraven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol, no where in hell they are going for this, they only would if they found out something original.
- dracula7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i wonder whats taking them so long to release google calendar? a storage service? gtalk with aim support............................ etc!
- TheRealStyro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0All these new video services starting and they all still don't get what I want - all in one service. I want to download the tv shows I watch from one central service with one DRM plan. I want a subscription plan unless the DRM allows me to burn the videos to DVD. I want 5 machines to be licensed for download/playing and unlimited portable players. I want HD when available with 5.1 audio. Is this really too much to ask?
Instead we all have to deal with this mess until they slowly fail and then maybe merge. - AdamCo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Jimmy;
It says that gtalk will be in the pack too. - Calculon64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0We're going to see some quality a lot of quality diggs thanks to CES. I look forward to reading them all.
- DarkeSword, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would totally digg this article if only the summary didn't abbreviate Microsoft as M$. Pretty juvinille. ;)
- FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yay?
- Calculon64, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"We're going to see a lot of quality diggs thanks to CES" is what i meant to say
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What's up with the fu.king $ sign in MS, that is so pathetic.
- kourge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://pack.google.com/favicon.ico
Nice icon. - vfrex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why Trillian when they just hired GAIM's lead developer?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Likelihood of this coming true: 1%
- sixister, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I u$e $ in$tead of the letter cau$e I R clevar.
- chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why anyone would be "excited" about this is beyond me - it's like getting excited over using AOL.
- 1gunit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DUP
http://digg.com/links/Google_to_offer_new_video_download_service - smorik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so that's why the videos on google video are recently showing "buy this video to view the whole 30secs"
- luke--, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol that's so awesome that someone uploaded a feature film to google video!! lols
- chadell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0will we see the debut of Google Wallet/Google Purchases as well?

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9020716713615744063&q=how+high - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who cares? I woudlnt buy video content on the web..
- kreativemind, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree with chriskzoo, why get so excited over this announcement. Seriously people (this is no digg) - what is the big deal getting a CD or waiting to download a "Google Pack" when you can simply download each software at your convenience and avoid being part of the stupid hype of special bundle software packages. It's great that it will be pre-installed on every new personal machine (if its true, then thanks goodness), but for those that already own a PC, shame on you!
In fact i'd gladly make a software installer "GPack/Google Pack" for each of you but then why should i when i'm happy to direct you to the download links:
http://desktop.google.com/ , http://www.google.com/talk/ , http://trillian.cc/ , http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/ , http://www.real.com/ , http://earth.google.com/
Now if Google decides to release Google Calendar/Purchases/Wallet or other amazing (new & innovative) product and not just a silly major update release, then you are more than welcome to Digg it and call me asap! For now, i wait till friday for Google's real hidden agenda to be announced at CES '06 when they do release awesome products as part of their Google Grids!!! (and don't you dare wake me up for some stupidity!) - secretivecoward, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1"I u$e $ in$tead of the letter cau$e I R clevar."
no, you just got yourself blocked. - apache2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0>Forget TV shows... just watch movies...

I mean isn't it tiresome? someone uses it, you all whine about it, then I'm forced to whine about the whining ;) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5STOP ***** REPLACING 'MS' WITH 'M$'. ITS NOT FUNNY, IT'S OLD AS *****.

- br0ken1128, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Dude - seriously, you guys that piss and moan about MS vs M$ drive me nuts, the crying over the replaced character is JUST AS ANNOYING, if not more so, than using the replaced character yourself..
It's going to happen, pitching a fit about it won't stop it.. so why cry about it? I know what M$ means, you know what M$ means... who cares if it's correct, or old... not me, I just get tired of seeing the repeated whining about it that almost certainly follows it's use. - sixister, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I totally ju$t got my$elf blocked by $ecretivecoward. $ICK!
