- wontstoptalking, on 11/12/2008, -3/+51YES I DO!!
You can buy a Linux Penguin plush doll from the Ubuntu store! I can him Linus.
He talks to me. - drex8, on 11/11/2008, -3/+45Both video and voice chat. Needs a plug-in. The plug-in requires an Intel-based computer running Mac OS X or a computer running Windows XP or Vista, a Webcam, and/or a microphone. It works with browsers that support the current version of Gmail: Chrome, Firefox 2.0+, Internet Explorer 7.0, and Safari 3.0. No support for a Linux based plug-in as of yet. http://gmail.com/videochat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFGJRfoK9xQ
- Tiak, on 11/12/2008, -3/+44dugg for pronouncable link.
- niradg, on 11/12/2008, -1/+41you're on to something...
- zoydberg, on 11/12/2008, -1/+40heres a better vid:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFGJRfoK9xQ&eurl=ht ... - CalcProgrammer1, on 11/12/2008, -4/+40Meh, cool, but no Linux version. Windows already has 100000000+ ways to do this, doesn't need any more. What we really need is webcam/videochat implemented in Pidgin. It's cross-platform, cross-protocol, open source, and has a good interface.
- Eezyville, on 11/12/2008, -1/+32Someone steal this man's idea!

- Eriksrocks, on 11/11/2008, -9/+35It's a shame it requires a plugin. They should have used Flash. No new plugin required.
- MyNameIsGusto, on 11/12/2008, -2/+25that's what she said
- doublefelix, on 11/12/2008, -2/+24I'm not wearing any pants.
- kalleanka, on 11/12/2008, -2/+23by the way... what is your sister's gmail?
- ThatGeek, on 11/12/2008, -3/+22I saw it coming, and i clicked on it gladly
- drex8, on 11/12/2008, -2/+21Your friends are worried they're accidentally see you nude.
- hovden, on 11/12/2008, -3/+22No Linux support. Why do people hate Free?
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -0/+17So, where can I find these 30 year old men?
- Diggnabbit, on 11/12/2008, -0/+16Lots.
- ptFoe, on 11/12/2008, -0/+15Gnome & Google are going to fight it out for gNames
- benburned, on 11/12/2008, -1/+16It has gotten to the point where I actually enjoy this and I end up watching the entire video.
- bonez56, on 11/12/2008, -4/+18shame on you google, shame.
- bonez56, on 11/12/2008, -0/+14pics or it didn't happen
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -3/+16Flash is a plug-in!
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -0/+13Yu Moyaovi!
- stalefries, on 11/12/2008, -0/+13He meant Intel-based Macs (as opposed to PowerPC Macs). The wording is a bit confusing.
- h0ly, on 11/12/2008, -0/+12I can't see any "whinging", only a very informative post.
- P373Y, on 11/12/2008, -0/+11isnt youtube flash?
- Daniel591992, on 11/12/2008, -1/+12Why couldn't they use flash for it? Seems so much more practical.
- Vash63, on 11/12/2008, -1/+12Wow. Great. So now the gtalk client is even further behind. No Linux support, no AIM support and now no Video. Are you EVER going to update this POS Google? I liked it when it launched but the lack of support is appalling.
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -1/+11Watch out Skype. Competition is here!
- takakia, on 11/12/2008, -2/+11Great news, but not for GNU/Linux users
- Radan, on 11/12/2008, -4/+13Last time I checked Flash is about as much of a plug in as a plug in can get. Also, Flash is evil and should die a grim painful death.
- samthurston, on 11/12/2008, -0/+9google didn't build youtube, they bought it. google video OTOH...
- Junpei, on 11/12/2008, -1/+10So, does any one else hate using Gmail chat, and wish they would have done this for Gtalk first? And what the hell is up with the google talk gadget? You can preview albums and have group chats in the gadget, but not Gmail chat or Gtalk. They just feel so scatter brained recently.
- mrsteveman1, on 11/12/2008, -1/+10Thats decoding, i want to know if the flash plugin can actually encode h264 itself before sending it. The iPhone only supports playing youtube videos that are already 264, it lacks flash entirely.
It was my understanding that youtube and google video both allow people to upload all sorts of formats and that GOOGLE does the conversion. -
