- controltheweb, on 10/10/2007, -6/+25Now if only they would share a little more of how they rank pages ...
- eean, on 10/10/2007, -0/+16So the spam sites could get even better page rank?
- f8pc, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12And you WILL listen to Google.
- LessThanDan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Dang. I read the title and I thought it meant a different kind of "sharing".
Oh well. - brewer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5just the way I like my porn: unintelligible, highly pixelated, and less than 3 frames per second.
- FutureGuy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Doesn't Google advocate that opening things up makes them safer, like open source?
- mepawl, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6I'm sorry...but...this thing is FUGLY! Menu Buttons, navigation etc.
Digg>Share Stuff - KevenM, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5It looks a little odd right now, but consider that Google is one of the few companies that'll present beta products WAYYYYYYYYY in advance of an official release - which effectively lets the USERS decide what works and what doesn't. Compare that to: Here's the finished product, you'd better like it.
Tinkered with it a bit. A little glitchy, but nonetheless has potential.
Now who wants to be on my shared list? - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3This looks much less like Digg than like the Facebook wall, and will be used more like it.
- JackDoyle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I can't seem to drag the button into my Firefox toolbar anyways. Doesn't seem to work.
- stephdau, on 10/10/2007, -5/+8It's a sad day when Google is switching to being another *me too* company and starts just playing it the MS way: assimilate or copy. They've so far been good at filling needs where there was an obvious need for innovation and/or where they could bring a tremendous value. But iGoogle and this just wasn't one of these situations. Disappointed, but they're the ones with the billions, not I, so I guess they probably have a better business sense than I do. ;)
- franksands, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Does anyone noticed that Google applications are becoming slower? I remember when gmail was fast.
- razei, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2...
no. - izzybomb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Im not sure what im watching here....
- nimajji, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2it didnt work for me. i hate that it opens up in a new tab. why couldnt they just make the "click to share" ajax or like a firefox extension and just improve notebook with the same features? indeed its nothing compared to tumblr.phooey google.
- dep01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Doesn't seem to work for me in firefox... at all...
- Feej, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Shareholders
- sparkmonkeyz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3DOES ANYONE NOTICE THE MOST POPULAR IS PORN!!!! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3395874617 ...
this is straight porn on their new sharing stuff homepage!! - rwallen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2It was only a matter of time until they developed this after they lost the bid to stumbleupon to ebay.
- sparkmonkeyz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Here is a screen for when google takes it down http://flickr.com/photos/13655772@N05/1415219429/
- roosteronacid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Seems like a general thing with all Google designs.
That is; to issue a kid with some creyons and shoot the little bastard full of drugs. Then grab the stuff he drew just before passing out, and smack it on the interweb. - Ibox, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Wow is that an ad for the worlds worst video cam? pretty girl tho... at least I think it was a girl.
- tfotherby, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I tried sharing my Google share page - I thought the world might end in an infinite loop but actually it just popped up with an empty page. :-)
- sandrob57, on 10/25/2007, -1/+2I have to disagree about iGoogle, I love it. I will agree that they seem to be very "me too" lately, however that isn't always a bad thing. Seeing some original stuff would be nice, though.
- saifatlast, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1A marklet is a little javascript thingy that you put on your browser bar. It looks like a bookmark, hence marklet.
- drjekelmrhyde, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1fap fap fap fap fap fap fap fap
- stephdau, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Uh, Yahoo's since like 98, PageFlakes, and so on.
- NiteShdw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Also I just noticed that you can click "More..." and use it to submit to Digg and another social news sites. So it's not just for Google.
- dbr_onix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Regardless, if you say exactly how you determine if a site is a spam-site, it doesn't really benefit anyone but the spammers, who will use that information to make sure they avoid all the red-flags.
(For example, if the spam-system flags a site if it has more than 10 links per line of text: spammers will then use 9 links per line of text.) - stephdau, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It is nice, I'm not disagreeing with that, and I'm not really saying Google is un-innovative (far from it). I just got so used to them being brilliantly creative over the last few years that I'm just feeling like my rosy G-bubble is rapidly bursting through such ventures.
See also the new "Facebook issue" they'll (supposedly) soon address. Again, it's just competition, nothing evil there.
http://digg.com/tech_news/Google_To_Out_Open_Faceb ... - NiteShdw, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1You can use this button with Opera as well. If you have 9.5 you need to drag the button to your Personal Bar. Once, you can drag the button to any other toolbar. Just click to share the active page.
- saksa, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Thank you for great info. That is new for me.
Have a great day! - roosteronacid, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Now. Pretty OK idea. BUT IT'S WRAAUNG!!
The standard IE pop-up blocker farkks their bookmark-link up. And you need to enable popups for every page you want to "share". Pretty dumb. - shmoolikipod, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1the service does not work on my Firefox :(
- ForbesBingley, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2This is a significant development, make no mistake.
Several times now, I've leveled criticism against Google for not getting into this space sooner.
I'm pretty sure they've not implemented all of my ideas, but this is a start... - g3n3s1s, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0and if u care a tad about your online privacy the way u should.. u wont do it.. amen.
- FutureGuy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Just that, why don't then right click on the folder that contains their software sources and select "share it", you know after all they advocate open source and stuff. Not doing that could be seen as hypocrisy, not that I am saying they are hypocrites or anything.
- flytronix, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0on the Internets, Google shares YOU!!
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -0/+0This article is from September 20, why is it front page? I am not a bury button clicker buy why is it here?
- Treshnell, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Google wants to connect all information to the internet, through Google. That's basically their ultimate goal. That's why I foresee a Google OS in the semi-distant future.
- Fremen93, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1What's the point of this? Why would I want to share my documents? I already have picasa for sharing photos...
- taizoshiozaki, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1I'm disappointed, too.
- gta3mobster, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1...What exactly is the "social bookmarking market?" I have always just pasted into notepad...
- kyn2k, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Who cares what google wants...
- kyn2k, on 10/10/2007, -4/+1Who cares what google wants...
- spanglegluppet, on 10/10/2007, -6/+3Ew, it's Digg with an uglier name.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Seems like an uglier version of tumblr.
- UtahApocalyse, on 10/10/2007, -10/+3Google has been down for 3 hours so far tonight.
- unknownsoldierX, on 10/10/2007, -12/+1It's only a matter of time now. Nice knowing you, Digg.
