- Sanitarium, on 10/12/2007, -11/+175All I got was goatse'd after 11 login's.
:( - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+86It works much faster if you change your password each time you log in. Editing your calendar seems to help too.
- sockpuppets, on 10/12/2007, -6/+85"The second video is the clincher. "
You realize he can alter his hosts file and serve all that locally, right? Look at his other videos, they're hoaxes too. The guy is just a brilliant prankster. - TortfeasorG, on 10/12/2007, -5/+77pfft...that's because you're not admitted to the beta
- nazsco, on 10/12/2007, -4/+69love how shaking the monitor proves it's not a fake!
i'm a beliver now! seriously! ...if he had hit the monitor with a bible though, then i'd be already loging in and out of my gmail - shiftt, on 11/09/2007, -9/+74it only took me 23,598 logins but I got it!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -14/+72That's real, alright.
- IvanB, on 10/12/2007, -7/+47If it's fake, it's really well done.
- krypnos, on 10/12/2007, -1/+36Does anyone else thing the Infinite Solutions music sounds like the old Chemistry videos from high school? I miss those videos...
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -11/+45who's going to be the first to apologize when gTV does show up?
- nemilar, on 11/14/2007, -16/+46I agree, this is real. The second video is the clincher. Besides, there have been a lot of stories recently about google getting into bed with CBS and other networks.
From the video, it looks like a pretty nice product. I can't wait for it to be public! - dheaddy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+31Very clever I have to say. The second video made me laugh for the analogyhe uses: "The Google TV easter egg has exploded like a Romulan warbird" - just genius
- inactive, on 11/11/2007, -0/+26...I really want Google TV to be real....
- BlazeQ, on 10/12/2007, -7/+32What's more interesting than it being a hoax is the amount of stir this is producing. Hopefully someone higher up will see the demand and create a real product...
- dudemanwo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+26wow, 5 or 10 times...
he said it took him 11
and yes, you is an idiot. - Ireland, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29Well, hands up who fell for it?
- NumbCore, on 10/12/2007, -4/+29http://www.peekvid.com/
Just use your imagination. - Thater, on 10/12/2007, -4/+27Did anyone else try to get on Loco Google after watching this clip? Or am I the only one?
This feels worse than being duckrolled. - polymorphist, on 11/11/2007, -3/+25I don't quite follow your logic...why anyone has to apologize? Nobody ever says it's never gonna happen.
- nuclearpotato31, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2722 logins got it for me. Guys, don't knock it until you try it!
- HairyLikeBear, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22I don't know what you're all talking about, it worked for me.
I took a screenshot:

This guy is hilarious - ch0p, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Why do all of you people think this was some kind of post-production trick?
It's really not that difficult to change your hosts file and locally reroute google.com to a different ip address.
Who's to say he didn't just create a fake google tv page with some simple ajax links and links to already existing google videos? - mark1372, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18The sad part is that this great hoax video is going to spawn a whole slew of new, poorly produced hoax videos starring people who think they're hilarious, and aren't.
- washcapsfan37, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18You forgot the extra B,A,Select,Start.
FAIL. No Super Contra extra lives for you. - metalhead3767, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18Yes a script righten for this would be really good.
- MuTeD, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Got it on 79 tries... anyone want the script I used for auto login/checking?
- Picciuto, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A
- tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Doesn't work in Firefox.....then again, he was using IE.
/sarcasm - ahawks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14@Saiger: he was using IE7. No greasemonkey there.
- SonicAD, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Cglass: How the hell could it be Safari when he's using a PC?
- soogy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Oh be honest, you weren't going to do anything special with those twenty minutes anyway.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11http://www.photodump.com/direct/samgordon420/gtv.jpg
I found this print screen of it, yo. Still probably fake. :"( - timdorr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9For those that think it's real, check out this video: http://www.fatalfarm.com/mark/Mark_Wifi.mov Now, look at the 2nd video again. Notice that cell phone?
But these guys are pretty damn funny. Check out the Commercials under the Work section of their site: http://www.fatalfarm.com - Cglass, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10yea he should bust a pirate bay, desire an island, not have enough money to pay for one, then crawl back into a swedish cave!
- Quickdood, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I was trying this last night for like 20 minutes, if it is real than I am not sure it is worth the time, but if it is fake then they got me good! I want twenety minutes of my life back!!!!
- thomasknowland, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9The Wi-Fi extender video in your link tells you to wrap an ethernet cable around a cell phone. In the second video for this digg, there's a wrapped up cell phone. That's a great one...
- streetblader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Well i'm really glad that you read all the other comments that said the exact same thing lol.
Oh and no greasemonkey, he as using IE 7. But you are right about the hosts file, the entire thing could have been run off of a local server, hence no need for greasemonkey. - flameboy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9** server can't find tv.google.com: NXDOMAIN
If the host in the video doesnt even resolve, its pretty much impossible for this to be real. - Hulka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Ping is not a guaranteed troubleshooter. Many organizations block ping so while the IP address will be resolved by DNS you won't get any replies. For example, trying pinging www.microsoft.com.
- illegal_op, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7looks like he learned how to use the hosts file in windows ;-)
- guymal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I'm in! Here's the surefire way to do it without having to login 1000 times (just 2 logins needed):
All you need to do is create a new Google spreadsheet, write "I want my Google TV" (no quotes) in the top left cell, save the file as "Gimme Google TV". Then invite yourself to collaborate on the document (use your Gmail address). When you get the invitation email hit reply and change the to address "To" address to "yourusername+googletv@gmail.com" (again, no quotes) and send it (this will send it to yourself). Once you get that email open it and click on "Create Event" (in the "More actions" drop down). This will open Google Calendar. In the "What" field enter "Go Go Google Gadget" (no quotes), in the "When" field enter today's date and pick a time that is a few minutes in the future, in the "Where" field put in "1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA" (you know the deal with the quotes), and finally make sure that the reminder is on (10 minutes is good).
After you save the event wait for the reminder email that you get for it. Open the reminder email and star it in Gmail. Go back to your Inbox and click on "Starred". From there unstar that email and click on the Gmail logo. Then go back to to Google Calendar and delete the event that you created. Now go in to Google Notebook and create a new notebook named "gtvgtvgtv", click on "Sharing options" and choose "Publish this notebook", "Yes", and save the changes. Then go google.com and search for "gmail". After you see the search results click on "Maps" at the top. In the Google maps result zoom in all the way and then type gmail.google.com in the address bar.
Once you are back in your Gmail account you will see an invitation to join Google TV.
I tried all this several times and it works every single time! - appletalk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8You're a moron.
- supersonicdarky, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7@ahawks:
actually he does show the gmail domain at one point, but the tv link could be added with a greasemonkey equivalent for ie (i'm quite sure there is one) and it could lead to a local fake site - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"took me 1337 login attempts to get it"
You're not seeing the joke there? - Gremio42, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Wow...I can't believe there are people actually out there that believe this. And on top of that, the people that are nice enough to just come out and say it's a hoax don't give the single unquestionable proof that will allow these people to move on with their lives.
Click start->run. Type cmd. Press Enter. Type ping tv.google.com. As you will see it times out and doesn't even resolve the host name to an ip address (for a comparison type ping www.google.com)...therefore, it doesn't even attempt any actual pings. That means *ANYONE* who attempts to go to tv.google.com will not be redirected to an actual computer where things like this have to be hosted...And no, being accepted into some beta will not apply magical fairy dust to the root hint DNS servers to then cause it to resolve.
Ping is a wonderful thing.
--Gremio - Edner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6it´s like santa.. its real, you just have to believe...
- 5150photo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7where is the Screen Cap? Does any one else have some proof?
