- inactive, on 10/28/2008, -1/+30I love Stumbleupon - I use it daily. I can safely say it is one of the best things on the web, and worth every penny. The chances of building real community there and informing others are huge.
- hpymondays, on 10/28/2008, -2/+15StumbleUpon = Helping You Waste Your Time More Efficiently
- mycutepetpics, on 10/28/2008, -3/+13It be nice to get those blackmailing thieves, eBay, out of the way since they blackmail most sites that go popular on StumbleUpon. If you use stumble so much for your site you can be banned from Adsense for impression fraud. Check it out with Google and unfortunately a lot of people have lost their Adsense accounts for this. You are also causing other site owners to be blackmailed and some to get banned from Adsense for thumbing up peoples sites. They don't tell you that when you sign up for stumble, so be careful.
Ebay forces sites to become sponsors once their site get popular on Stumble or they will un-index you.
You are also causing your page impression cost to plummet. We were getting quite a bit per click and then when we became popular on Stumble we were reduced to almost nothing per every 1000 impressions. After two weeks of being banned we are making more now then ever.
I thought Stumble was the funnest and best social site until we got banned and found out what they are really up to and how much their traffic was actually hurting our earnings and our site.
What did we think?! They are owned buy eBay, who is all about making money and fees.
Good luck to anyone using Stumble but be careful k. The last thing you want to do is have a guilt trip for getting your friend banned from adsense and blackmailed. - electricwaffles, on 10/28/2008, -0/+9They already know all the websites you go to on purpose. Might as well tell them which ones you end up at by accident.
- inactive, on 10/28/2008, -1/+10& buy digg too... then decide which one to set on fire.
- AtraNoxVII, on 10/28/2008, -0/+5Googlepon?
Stoogle?
StumbleUpGoogle?
Gooble?
Platypus? - Nuyan, on 10/28/2008, -0/+4Agreeing with you.
Although, I can see the benefits of proper implementation of stumbleupon everywhere. Still I'd prefer these community things to stay independent. - veronica1, on 10/28/2008, -5/+9God NO! They already own the search world. Why not just turn over the ENTIRE internet to Google? Because It'll be just like television programming today. It will suck. Do you honestly think that corporate consolidation will benefit the consumer in anyway? Morons...
- feshmania, on 10/28/2008, -0/+4I say set em both a fire and watch this mother burn.
- maninalift, on 10/28/2008, -0/+3Absolutely.Stumbleupon could be cool if only it had better algorithms. I think I know a company that specialises in inferences in large amounts of data
- GamingForever, on 10/28/2008, -1/+4Yes they should!
- iMattK, on 10/28/2008, -0/+3Agreed. Google is too sophisticated of an operation to even consider lowly Digg.
- redfox2600, on 10/28/2008, -0/+3Platypus Beta sounds like a good name.
- eminn3m, on 10/29/2008, -0/+2Why? it's very natural and can be easily used as a verb.
- AlaskaLoneWolf, on 10/28/2008, -0/+2Amen. Make them into one UberEngine. Cuz' if Google is the index for the InterNet, then Digg/SU would be the Table of Contents.
- jenel, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1...one more click and I'll go to sleep. I swear!
- diggdatt, on 10/28/2008, -2/+3They cant, its owned by ebay. Buried.
- drgmdp, on 10/28/2008, -1/+2a digg/SU merge would be epic
- MAGZine, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1I don't think Google abandoned Digg - wasn't there just a slight mishaps with a Google Visiting Kevin (or Vice Versa) to discuss some API/possible partnership stuff?
It could happen in the future, but it could also not. However, as much as I like Google, I don't really want them to swallow up Stumbleupon, unless if they have a CLEAR schedule that clearly outlines ways in which the merger would benefit the consumer, and not just them. Google kinda really broke GrandCentral from what it was, and I'm sort of sad because of that. - feshmania, on 10/28/2008, -3/+4I'm sure you're sitting in some sort of room right now. I assume this room has a door. I also assume this door leads to (A) another room or (B) outside. Go through the door. If you get (B) you've reached your destination, stay here for no less than 4 hours. If (A) repeat until you achieve (B).
- scamper22, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1No idea. I heard even facebook doesn't make any money. i think for most of these sites, their only hope is to be noticed enough and for some reason be purchased by MS or Google. What value is it to them? I don't know. The masses of people... but all these sites quickly lose their appeal if they become ad infested.
I'm thinking its just a way for nerds to support other nerds by getting some crazy valuation. - StarSirius, on 10/28/2008, -1/+2I use stumble upon so much that I ran out of websites :[
Moar topics plz Google. - CertifiedBaller, on 10/28/2008, -1/+2"They cant, its owned by ebay. Buried." Good point.
They should buy facebook instead. - int19h, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1If the sites are large enough, just a tiny ad on each page should conjour up some ka-chings.
- int19h, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1Google is the keeper of so much key information by now that if they ever were to go bankrupt I think people would collect money to keep them going. It's closer to an evil plot than "do no evil", though.
- preperat, on 10/28/2008, -0/+1How do any of these sites make any $$ ??? I love stumbleUpon, but I never done anything that could contribute to their bank account. Just click the button, read/watch/view the result, and move on !!!
- bowlingotter, on 10/28/2008, -1/+1haha true. hey well, if google bought it, maybe they'd rename it?
It's a great tool that could use better integration. I use it most often to send sites to my friends and receive others back but the interface is a little weird. - jbond, on 10/28/2008, -1/+1Stumble should be allowed to die. Then somebody should re-write the basic idea and do it properly.
- svivian, on 10/28/2008, -1/+1no, just the worst service in the world
- nunofgs, on 10/28/2008, -1/+1Google needs to buy Twitter. Think about it. It's the perfect match. Maybe then, the rest of the world can get free SMS.
- scamper22, on 10/28/2008, -0/+0int19h,
the larger the site, the more costs as well. Suddenly you need more servers, people maintaining up time, more internet hosting costs...
the ka-ching quickly disappears :) - ZGambit, on 10/28/2008, -4/+4No they should not buy Stumbleupon, stupid topic..
- kalkin, on 10/28/2008, -5/+4i like stumbleupon too but does anyone else think it is the worst named service in the history of the world?
- zippy757, on 10/28/2008, -4/+3...if Google buys Stumbleupon in this investment environment, say goodbye to DIGG... the VC market isn't spending $ on competing platforms...those days are over.
Stumbleupon sucks. - ebusinesswizard, on 10/28/2008, -1/+0It is a great news for me that the search engine king Google going to engaged with social networking website.
- bbliss17, on 10/28/2008, -3/+1google should buy the internet!!
- jwolcott, on 10/28/2008, -7/+1So I said to the guy, "Leave me the ***** alone", and he did.
- inactive, on 10/28/2008, -11/+3anyone that uses stumble should go back and stay there, ***** *****

What is Digg?
