- KC311Man, on 11/07/2007, -8/+215Dugg for the comment about it being sad that Gmail v1 never even made it out of beta!
- Roger, on 11/07/2007, -27/+206I'm a bit disappointed. I was hoping for a complete UI overhaul.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 11/03/2007, -16/+194Since when is "Google" plural?
- d0nkeyBOB, on 11/06/2007, -3/+137God . .I hope they don't touch the UI much . . .I hate the way hotmail and yahoo do their UI. If I want my webmail UI to look like outlook, I'll just use outlook.
- LithiumGreen, on 11/03/2007, -4/+127Hey, how about we start linking to the original story instead of creating blog spam?
http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/
I'm getting sick of the friggin blog spam on digg - h4rdcor3, on 11/05/2007, -11/+128I don't even have IMAP yet! no fair!
- rudy23, on 11/01/2007, -10/+112whats wrong with the way it is?
- PRlME, on 11/01/2007, -3/+69Plz leave the UI alone its fast as is i dont need to load 50 png's and gifs just to get a number from my contacts list.
- brstilson, on 11/03/2007, -1/+54I never got a link for the Newer version, but mine says "Older version." It looks like they upgraded me automatically.
- CyberSteve, on 11/02/2007, -1/+42(oh, it seems like the comment wasn't very funny...)
- OverThere, on 11/07/2007, -2/+41Already have it on 1 of my 3 accounts. The contact manager is greatly improved.
Only gripe is that GmailManager doesn't know how to check the account any more. It can't tell if there are new messages. No idea if this is due to the IMAP change/addition, or something else.
Overall, very nice upgrade. - Mononuclear, on 11/01/2007, -4/+37It is for anyone who lives in the UK, Canada, etc..
- BurnTees, on 11/01/2007, -0/+30i didn't get an invitation, it's just how my gmail shows up. to be honest, i didn't even notice the difference
- n0c0ntr0l, on 11/02/2007, -0/+26I have it and for some reason it was auto enabled for me, I never even got to choose it, it just appeared.
- Bridea, on 11/08/2007, -6/+321) Still no IMAP.
2) No GMail 2.0 either.
/keeps waiting. - ObiusX, on 11/08/2007, -14/+39I'm still waiting for my IMAP.
- Elranzer, on 11/01/2007, -1/+23Geez, I still don't even have IMAP enabled yet, let alone Gmail 2.0. And I got my account within the first month they started GMail.
- aquadoctorbob, on 11/01/2007, -3/+21Here, have an excessively long Wikipedia link.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_and_British_ ... - Modano, on 11/01/2007, -0/+16I'm still waiting on IMAP to become available!
- briansorders, on 11/01/2007, -2/+18Invitation?
- DonCarcharo, on 11/01/2007, -16/+32I agree, GMail might be very functional but it's certainly not very pretty. A UI overhaul would have been nice.
- Twelve-60, on 11/01/2007, -1/+15Wait, where the hell did this 2.0 crap come from, I only see a very slight interface change and an improved contact list, there is no mention of "2.0" other then this blog.
- siddarthh, on 11/08/2007, -2/+15I was hoping they would let me open mail in a new tab....
- inactive, on 11/01/2007, -2/+15Yes, they call it Labels.
- sexybobo, on 11/01/2007, -2/+15If there is nothing wrong with it I say have them leave it. Was nothing really wrong with digg's comment system and look what happened when they changed it.
- Firehed, on 11/08/2007, -1/+13I've been checking every half hour or so since the news hit. My gmail bookmark is getting worn out.
- sdcarter, on 11/08/2007, -1/+13All they'd need to do is fix it so everyone who sends me emails (or is a recipient of emails I get) doesn't wind up in my contacts. Damn that irritates me.
- ABombbmoBA, on 11/03/2007, -4/+14It must not be that good. I have been on the new version an didn't notice until I read this post. (Aside from being weirded out by the Skype icons in emails this morning).
- stimpack, on 11/01/2007, -0/+10Not me, old yahoo=fast and ugly, new yahoo=slow and pretty. Now GMail is fast but not ugly, just plain. They should not mess too much and slow it down with millions of ways to drag and drop messages.
- Salzar, on 11/01/2007, -0/+10Thank you, I have been wondering why GmailManager has stopped working.
- BurnTees, on 11/01/2007, -0/+10is it possible to be signed into more than one gmail account at once? would make my life SO much easier
- Vtorch, on 11/01/2007, -1/+10If Google is going 2.0, does that mean it's no longer in Beta?
- inactive, on 11/01/2007, -0/+8Uh, yeah, the "Newer Version" is available in Safari. Not only that, but Google finally got around to fully supporting Safari: the update brings with it support for GTalk within Safari and full support for rich formatting (no more using Camino for text-wrap :D), along with all the other new goodies.
- kodomosuki, on 11/01/2007, -0/+8They do nothing!
- DMCer, on 11/01/2007, -0/+7As long as they keep the ads to a bare minimum, I'm satisfied. Seen a Yahoo Mail inbox view lately? Gross.
- Unclekoolaid, on 11/01/2007, -0/+7Funny, Googlelady has been the first to comment in some very strange Digg submissions these past couple days...
- h4rdcor3, on 11/02/2007, -0/+7I'm already on english. i have never been on anything else and still don't have it
- jimmymcduck, on 11/01/2007, -0/+7you must be the fat lady on the train.
- Protoss, on 10/31/2007, -0/+7Yep mine was the same way. I noticed that it seemed zippier, and there was no longer a "Loading" red text in the corner anymore.
- Bridea, on 10/31/2007, -0/+7I'm on English (US), logged out and cleared, nothing. Hell, I logged in from a coworker's computer and still no IMAP love.
- Shawn4168, on 11/01/2007, -1/+8I don't think I have new version yet, but I've noticed that I can access Gmail + Chat now in Opera. When did that happen?
- bndocksnt, on 11/01/2007, -0/+7Snagged it on an older account, but not on a more recently added account, I'm thinking they probably rolled it out to early adopters first. Anyway, I haven't noticed much of a difference between the two really, so I'm not that disappointed not having it on both.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 10/31/2007, -1/+8Labels can accomplish the same things as folders plus more
- swandive76, on 11/01/2007, -0/+7I just got Gmail IMAP on my account yesterday so im not surprised to see im not a "select user"
- natenovs, on 10/31/2007, -1/+8i got locked out of my account for 24 hours when i tried to set up IMAP. my client tried to download all 16000 headers, and gmail shut me off citing "unusual activity"
- Mononuclear, on 10/31/2007, -2/+8No.. That is what the Labels are for. It's a different approach to folders. I doubt gmail will ever use folders.
- Roger, on 11/01/2007, -9/+15Nothing wrong, but it looks outdated and doesn't fit in with other Google products.
- Roger, on 11/01/2007, -0/+6That there's nothing wrong with it doesn't mean that it can't be improved.
And yes, there was a lot wrong with the old digg comment system, and they didn't exactly make it better. But I have more faith in Google than the digg team. - stalefries, on 11/01/2007, -0/+6I only got IMAP in one of my accounts yesterday, don't give up yet.
- luchid, on 11/01/2007, -1/+7Damn bookmark abuser! They have feelings, you know!
