- lucidguru, on 12/16/2007, -14/+161Nice now google can tie all my search-information into a comprehensive profile with my name, picture, home address, my interests, my Social Security Number, birth certificates, criminal records, shopping habits, email address, shoe size, hair color, eye color, blood type, home address, mother's maiden name, bank accounts, fingerprints, and DNA analysis. Pretty soon I should also be able to send a live video feed to google so that they can monitor my every behavior. I can't wait to let them implant a GPS tracking device into my arm so that I can telepathically receive their small, unobtrusive text ads specifically targeted to my interests and life-habits. Google is the greatest!
- RealSurreal, on 12/16/2007, -1/+74You forgot they will also know what hand you masturbate with.
- krabat, on 12/16/2007, -5/+76I'm a Google whore. I won't deny it. At least when the revolution comes I can hope for a swift, merciful death at their hands.
- greenlight2001, on 12/16/2007, -2/+46You only use one at a time?
- Gnasche, on 12/16/2007, -4/+36If you have two homes you deserve to have your identity stolen. I just need a place to crash for a couple days.
- jmreid, on 12/16/2007, -3/+28No one is forcing you to use it. So, yes... has it.

- MFOG, on 12/16/2007, -3/+24About time :)
Google has already many many needed features, its about time it starts joining them all together with profiles - Sabretou, on 12/16/2007, -3/+23*insert mandatory "Google is turning evil" comment here*
- teamlouish, on 12/16/2007, -1/+19I think its funny how people keep saying its an invasion of privacy. Google isnt forcing you to use their products. They dont force you to login when using their search engine. They dont force you to use their mail, or google checkout, or any of their other amazing products. I volunteer my information to them and am glad to do so. They make my life just that much easier.
- BlaenkDenum, on 12/16/2007, -3/+21They should include OpenID in this too, that'd make it a true, universal profile.
- AmazingAndrex, on 12/16/2007, -1/+16You shoud, as it's going to be fricking EPIC.
- Tyrghast, on 12/16/2007, -7/+21Google: "LOL WE'RE FACEBOOK AND MYSPACE AND XANGA AND STUFF"

- Wartz, on 12/16/2007, -1/+13the other is for operating the bowser/video player/keyboard/mouse.
- notjustmii, on 12/16/2007, -3/+14Just another step in google taking over. G power.
- ZPWeeks, on 12/16/2007, -1/+10...it's all single sign-on already, so why would you need a profile with it? Digg made the mistake of doing the same thing, and it didn't get anywhere. Unless you go really deep into making your already existing site into a social networking product, it ain't gonna happen.
- masterm1nd, on 12/16/2007, -2/+11Bklynadam, what do you do if the title is...
"Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog" - xsuite, on 12/16/2007, -1/+10I see a craigslist add already:
WANTED: A hot girl to jack me off while I browse digg. - inactive, on 12/16/2007, -1/+9They did overtake Hotmail and (definitely) Mapquest.
- athenius22, on 12/16/2007, -6/+14I, for one, welcome the imminent Googlezon.
- RobotBuddha, on 12/16/2007, -4/+11That's it? For the most part, I'm pretty happy with google. But they really do have a history of half-assing things. For a company that gives free time to work, paid, on projects it sure doesn't show in a lot of these releases. In particular, I'm still shocked at the lack of integration in their products. I understand a lot of that is probably due to wanting to standardize new programs into their gdata api before really linking them up. But even after that happens they seem to seriously flounder. This, for example, looks like less than a days work of coding from one person.
- vofuse, on 12/16/2007, -0/+7Freely giving out personal information on the Net is always a great idea.
- chedabob, on 12/16/2007, -0/+7Google can already spy on me. They know my reading habits from Reader, they can read my documents in Gdocs, see where I am from Gcal, and read any personal converstations with Gmail. Having a profile page that tells them that "I ***** love cake" is a drop in the ocean compared to the other stuff.
- Rylock, on 12/16/2007, -2/+8Yeah, because profiles are so cutting edge.
- simg, on 12/16/2007, -2/+8given that it's going to happen anyway, i'd rather have google's unobtrusive text ad's than some audio/video flash super-annoying ad's super imposed onto to my retina even when I'm asleep.
google's mantra of "do no evil" isn't just about the fact that they claim to have good intentions. it means that if they ever slip up then we can hold them publicly accountable for any misdeeds.
Personally, I'd rather keep all of my personal information to myself, but given that just ain't gonna happen, I'll trust google with my information. - rhabd0mancer, on 12/16/2007, -1/+7G(●¿●)gle

- starsky51, on 12/16/2007, -0/+5From TFA: "You control what goes into your Google Profile, sharing as much (or as little) as you'd like."
- xptoast, on 12/16/2007, -2/+6I for one welcome our new Google overlord. I trust them more than the government. At least they work good.
- btnheazy03, on 12/16/2007, -3/+7And it also makes it easier for Google to spy on you. Uh oh .. . Do no evil?
- RockStrongo1, on 12/16/2007, -2/+5I've already worked out a pretty sweet deal as a minion... I just have to stoke a really hot fire for eternity. It doesn't sound any worse than my current job, and it will likely be warmer than my current cube.
- chedabob, on 12/16/2007, -2/+5Does anybody actually use OpenID? I've never seen it show up on any big sites.
- starsky51, on 12/16/2007, -0/+3You think standardising the authorisation and user profile procedures for about 30 applications would take a few man hours? It's not just a case of knocking up a little profile page.
Also, I think the lack of integration in their products is a direct result of their work ethic. I'd imagine, once Google Profile is in place, they will make sure that all new apps use it. - suprxtragrav, on 12/09/2008, -3/+6heres to google being the facebook killer. (without the crummy apps)
- jazzboyrules, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2Just makes me strengthen the truthiness of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fUHtc37MC8
- whiledo, on 03/25/2009, -0/+2How disappointing. I was hoping it was a way to actually usefully manage your address book. By that I mean you can enter all your private details like address and phone number and manage who has access to them. That way instead of filling out that information in their address book and having to keep it up to date, it just pulls it live from the person's profile.
- stackered, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2google is god
- Chasuk, on 12/16/2007, -2/+4Oh, no! This is such a hideous invasion of privacy! It is just the start of further evils... we are standing at the top of a slippery slope! Next, Google will want to chip me, and this will be the Mark of the Beast!!!! Please write to your God-fearing Congressman now (not that cultist Romney!!!), and stop this before Google/Microsoft/Disney/McDonalds have enslaved us all, with black helicopters carting us all off to Blackwater built detention camps, and Google trucks shipping drugs and terrorists along the NAFTA Superhighway! We will lose our sovereignty and become the United States of Google unless we act now!!!!!!!!!!

- Aticper, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2No, no, they won't kill you.
Google is benevolent. They'll keep you in a nice, comfy habitat with a full water bottle, fresh sunflower seeds, clean wood-shavings bedding, and contextually perfect adds tailored to your lifestyle. - haloevo, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2Googleplex

No matter what it's called, it'll be something crazy. Google is nuts. - jakefloyd, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2Ever heard the quote, "The road to hell is paved with good intentions."
- Zaeyde, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2Interesting. I had this idea that Google would create profiles that would eventually be manditory by all employees or employers and would be the standard for resumes and stuff.
There was a lot more to it, but the idea was eventually everything on the net would be indexed and readily available and organized comprehensively.
Wikipedia was merged with Google somehow, too.
Basically, they ruled the world.
Anyway, my idea is coming true. - adcuz, on 12/16/2007, -0/+2That blog is crap, full of blackhat SEO. Look at all that hidden text in the bottom of the page.
