- MikeKnoop, on 10/12/2007, -25/+157Stop saying "Title says it all"! Jeez, there is always SOMETHING you could type to describe what I'm about to see.
-Mike - fmg2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+92Make sure to check out the arrangement of the cars just south of the circle...
- coreyb, on 10/12/2007, -4/+94No one photoshopped this... Everyone knows aliens make crop circles. Therefore, Firefox must be the intergalactic browser of choice. :D

p.s. you will notice your user name above every comment making the signature redundant. - jeffness, on 10/12/2007, -1/+75"finding" it was probably pretty easy, because, if you zoom out a bit, you'll see that only that very specific section is at that high of a resolution.
Looks like they sent an aerial image to google and they integrated it in their map system backend. nice of them. - DolphinGL, on 10/12/2007, -3/+72The IE7 spaceship crashed.....
Ba-dum-bum-tsh! - SgtPeppers, on 10/29/2007, -4/+65That's really neat!!
Very well done, and found. It has a diameter of 80 metres (200 feet) - armbar, on 10/12/2007, -4/+41They made one, but it ended up looking like this:

... and the list goes on. That list is only half of the results you get when you search "Firefox crop". Talk about beating a dead horse!
Funny, kind of reminds me about Hollywood these days: they can't think of new topics and ideas so they just relieve, remake, and redo old ones. - ottodv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+35Behind the scenes blog on how the circle was made:
http://www.firefoxflicks.com/web-diaries/?p=96 - dickeytk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+34it's definitely not fake you guys, it was some students at Oregon State in an open source group, I knew one of the guys in the group. The also painted a huge logo in the quad.
- richpav, on 10/12/2007, -1/+25How can that be the plane they used in Google maps? It couldn't take the aerial photo and be on the ground at the same time.
- Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -6/+28Read that as the IE7 crap circle.
- nashife, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22To everyone linking to past stories: yes the fact that the circle was built is not new.
the fact that it's NOW on google maps and google earth IS new.
kthnxbye. - dnthomps, on 10/12/2007, -3/+18@ FMG2000
"Make sure to check out the arrangement of the cars just south of the circle..."
Those are not just cars... check out the airplane that makes the F with another car.
My question... How did they know when the photo would be snapped? I doubt they left the plane and those cars out there waiting for it... Anybody? - maiki, on 10/12/2007, -8/+21"Looks like they sent an aerial image to google and they integrated it in their map system backend. nice of them."
One of the kids that did it was an intern at Google at the time. Google flew him from NY to do it. I hear he coordinated this with when Google's satellite would be flying by.
ps: for credibility's sake, i'm a student at oregonstate and that guy is in my statistics class right now. - dickeytk, on 10/12/2007, -12/+24http://digg.com/software/Huge_Firefox_crop_circle_aliens_do_prefer_Firefox
5000+ diggs - DolphinGL, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11I want to believe...
- jesirose, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10"Make sure to check out the arrangement of the cars just south of the circle..."
YAY! They abbreviated it right! This is a pet peeve of mine, when people call it FF. The cars say Fx :)
http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/faq.html#spell-abbreviate - Emmsquille, on 10/12/2007, -5/+14And neither is your comment.
http://digg.com/tech_news/Google_Maps_Firefox_Logo_Crop_Circle#c4036731 - khag7, on 10/12/2007, -5/+12wheres the IE7 crop circle?!
- ottodv, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9It spells Fx, the official abbreviation of Firefox.
- robustyoungsoul, on 10/12/2007, -7/+15Ice Weasel doesn't have THIS, I'll wager.
- 1021, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11"One of the kids that did it was an intern at Google at the time. Google flew him from NY to do it. I hear he coordinated this with when Google's satellite would be flying by."
Maiki, you think Google has it's own satellite? - sycho, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I think that you should read some other comments before posting.

Using your same logic, a newly discovered picture or video of the World Trade Center attack would be a duplicate of every other mention of the World Trade Center attack.
That really doesn't make sense as this digg, as others have pointed out, adds value to the other submittions because it represents the first time this crop circle appears on Google Maps. Digg is all about learning new things, and in different ways. A duplicate story is just that, a story or media that is a direct copy of another story or media. - pearmanjim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6title does not say all. there is an arrangement of an airplane and a few cars that says
F X - korbink, on 10/12/2007, -14/+20@Doghound
So people who don't live and breathe Digg everyday are supposed to magically know to search for "firefox crop circle?" - compzo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This wins.
- PsychoPNut, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Holy ***** ***** *****! Talk about dupes.... Read the comments! There are like a bazillion people saying the same thing........ but no! No on ever points that out! They just thumbs down the *****! ***** ***** ass ***** lickin' son of a bitches shut up about digg-anything! let them do there work and stop hoping that one day Kevin or some other nerd will see you comment and be like, "oh *****!" he's got our backs lets call him and give him a blow job and some cash, or say his name on diggnation or make a logo for him! ***** you ass lickers, there is more drama on here then in high school.
Final words, "shut the ***** up no one cares!" - se1zure, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6hopefully thay don't make an i.e. one...
then we would have to call it a "crap" circle!
Bah Dum Bum *dink* - phort99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Actually, due to the perspective of the aerial photo and the lens distortion of the camera, the telephone poles actually are pointing towards the outside of the photo and their shadows are pointing straight up. A look at the shadow of the car on the highway or the vehicles congregated south of the circle is more easily visible.
- isage, on 10/12/2007, -7/+12This is not a dupe as the digg points people to Google Maps (as the digg clearly states), not Google Earth, nor a page talking about the logo. Case closed.
- krewemaynard, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9The tractor crashed.
- skidknee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Best.post.ever.
- suntereo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It has better resolution in Google Earth... go to 45.123785,-123.113962
Look below the logo. There's a plane and what looks like some people laying down?? What the heck? Are they "posing" for the satellite?? - alternative724, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5To everyone pissed that this is a dupe.
You are NOT the only people on Digg. new people sign up, old people miss stories.
Stop being such pretentious douchebags. - Federbeast, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Someone needs to make a "Waldo" crop circle.
- gr8one, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That has to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
- JackHallows, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25 minutes. He posted it in the 5 minutes it took for me to search and post all of that. ALL the results from the search, not just half of them.
5 minutes is too much time and work? - xigxag, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wait a minute, when did google earth and maps become integrated like that? that is absolutely the *****.
- 3ATM3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Not on Yahoo Maps...

- fishbert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@isage
For a "title says it all..." poster, you sure talk a lot.
Next time you post a blatant dupe, maybe you could copy a description as well. - moman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3anyone know where there are any other crop circles on google maps?
- sloths, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This furthers my suspicions that Firefox is a cult. I used to use and pimp firefox just as much as all you folk, but then I saw through the BS. It's just a browser. Can it access the Internet? If yes, than it's fine by me. As long as it doesn't use up 100mb of RAM on about:blank.
And remember people, the internet is SERIOUS BUSINESS.
PS: I bet Jim Jones would have used firefox. - Catchpen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What the hell's wrong with you guys? OK I''ll Say it.
....I, for one, welcome our Red Panda Overlords. - Justin6512, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Oregon of all places.
- freeed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4By the way, it also made it into Google Earth last week-or-so, already! :)
http://fredericiana.com/2006/11/29/firefox-crop-circle-hits-google-earth-and-maps/ - LucianSolaris, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4I helped unbury it :)
