- vexious, on 06/21/2008, -2/+17Team Digg Anyone?
- sanman, on 06/21/2008, -0/+10but that would result in lots of useless attempts at wit, and no real answers
- siobhankeogh, on 06/21/2008, -2/+10Oh, Google. What will you do next?
- Dylson, on 06/21/2008, -1/+8I love google. They do everything right.
- webkami, on 06/21/2008, -3/+9Deja Vu anyone...?
it is an old news, read details here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Lunar_X_Prize
or main website: http://www.googlelunarxprize.org/ - Dylson, on 06/21/2008, -1/+6Whatever it is, it will be amazing.
- Tenlow, on 06/21/2008, -1/+5Wow. Just, wow.
- deanoplex, on 06/21/2008, -0/+3Pics or it didn't happen!
- pw378, on 06/21/2008, -0/+3The next visitor after Neil Armstrong will be a robot?
I thought it was Pete Conrad on Apollo 12 - who then uttered the semi-forgettable words: "Whoopie! Man, that may have been a small one for Neil, but that's a long one for me..."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_12 - stretch611, on 06/21/2008, -1/+4After a comment like that maybe you should change your username from lopla to loopy.
- pw378, on 06/21/2008, -0/+3So 400% increase in stock in 4 years is disappointing to you? Dude, you are heading for a really miserable life with those kind of messed up expectations... seriously.
- stretch611, on 06/21/2008, -0/+2Google is already invested and is ahead of the other internet companies. It has started to map the moon. http://www.google.com/moon/
- waspbr, on 06/21/2008, -0/+2This is not really news, the prize has been on since 2007, even my university made a concept:
http://www.reachforthemoon.nl - FUR10N, on 06/21/2008, -0/+2they need a street view for the moon
- pw378, on 06/21/2008, -0/+2http://www.marsanomalyresearch.com/evidence-report ...
Apparently image seams qualify as alien structures... *sigh* where have all the GOOD conspiracy theories gone to..... - dengzhi, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1Google to take over the moon!
- Mushroomhero, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1Even though it does not seem impressive you have to realize the importance of the the moon. It would be a massive step in the human exploration of space if we could build a base on the moon and be able to send people to and from it. A ground station on the moon could offer many possibilities for research and would be a stepping stone for colonizing other planets. This is why there is a much larger focus on the moon now then in the past couple years.
- Ossuary, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1This really needs to happen, but damn if it won't be complicated. The actual act of getting there will be nothing compared to the political and cultural issues. Go go go!
- IdanH14, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1I guess the old media isn't in tune with the internet news.
Thanks for that! - inactive, on 06/21/2008, -2/+3Expect Google Moon soon...
- Balk2K, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1Did anyone else expect a 'Virgle'-like hoax?
http://www.google.com/virgle/ - bipolarruledout, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1We will find out that google is actualy made out of people. But then Google will clairify that it's only Mac users.
- chase001, on 06/22/2008, -0/+1F*** the moon and Mars! We're screwed if we don't start an Apollo Mission for transportation and get rid of the cumbustion engine.
- Aethirig, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1While this is cool and all, this ultimately amounts to a PR move. As a cog in an industry that makes kinda small products (video games), I can confidently predict that by 2012 we'll have run through five times that amount of cash on a project and a half.
If Google dares to what they dream, they need to add another zero to that number. Otherwise, we only get a bunch of videos of rich guys crashing ***** into cornfields. - Mushroomhero, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1That already exists.. check the comment above.
- inactive, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1Woah, reminds me of Nero51 making this comment on Digg a while back:
http://digg.com/apple/Apple_Eyeing_Video_Game_Mark ...
Dunno why I remembered but nice prediction.
How the hell could I have possily remembered that comment?
I dunno, I'm just stoned right now lol. - deanoplex, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1All those glitches in my own astrophotography images are STRUCTURES?!
- jmspikers, on 06/21/2008, -1/+1This takes businesses planning for the future to an whole different level.
- inactive, on 06/21/2008, -1/+1Now that the YouTube and Joost shills have largely given up...
- brycehebert, on 05/03/2009, -2/+2God, Google is so cool it's not even fair.
But I find it hard to be excited about sending something to the moon when we have another rover on Mars finding ice... - Luistavo2007, on 06/24/2008, -0/+0please check my digg ¨ The Next Huge Google¨
- satproject, on 06/21/2008, -5/+5Wow, that is like so cool.
- jamiecrager, on 06/10/2009, -0/+0Google is taking over the world

http://www.twitter.com/CragerInc - enikoo, on 06/21/2008, -1/+1I agree. Why do good causes when you can make moar profit instead!
- jazzbeaux, on 06/21/2008, -1/+0I agree...between the Google-bois and the Apple heads, you can usually count on objectivity going straight down the crapper.
- bipolarruledout, on 06/21/2008, -1/+0Wow... did anyone see the "secret" google campus pics a few months ago? Well one picture had their geeked out white board sketches with lines drawn to "space" as part of their "expantion plans". I viewed it as humorous... these guys are just having some fun and whatnot. Now I feel kind of cynical.
What I'm starting to learn about these visionaries from both google and microsoft is that they don't limit their thinking in the least. The most far out and weirdest ***** is encoraged..... but then perhaps thats why ended up with Vista. - mattearle, on 06/21/2008, -3/+1Except increase their stock price or develop any new revenue streams besides paid search.
What the hell does all this moon stuff have to do with being a search engine? - harukashin, on 06/21/2008, -2/+0Wow, Moon walker? maker sure that was not only a toy?
- brycehebert, on 05/03/2009, -3/+1Pluto maybe? First thing to land on something that's not a planet.
Oh wait, just remembered, NASA hit a meteor, damn. - inactive, on 06/21/2008, -8/+2***** google advertisements.
I swear to the gods, google seems like having trolls in digg and slashdot pumping its stories. - lopla, on 06/21/2008, -13/+2It'll never happen folks. There are structures on the back side of the moon. I've heard enough astronauts and Nasa employees discuss this to be certain. Google will attempt launches but they will all mysteriously fail. That region of the moon will be protected at all costs. So although this sounds cool, they will be flushing money down the drain.
