- lucidguru, on 03/21/2008, -2/+134A simple homepage is actually kind of nice... I hope google doesn't change the US page... The Japan google page is beginning to look like the dreaded Yahoo homepage.
- inactive, on 03/21/2008, -1/+53Hmm. Me no like.
- shankarganesh, on 03/21/2008, -1/+45Google = Simplicity. :)
- lawguru, on 03/21/2008, -1/+44I agree. It's too busy. Keep the simple page -- stop the madness!
- geoken, on 03/21/2008, -1/+38That's exactly how Yahoo looked at the point where it began it's decline.
The worst part is how the tabs are replicating the quicklinks on the top left. - inactive, on 03/21/2008, -4/+35http://www.google.co.jp/
- inactive, on 03/21/2008, -3/+24My balls look cool, that doesn't mean i'm gonna submit them as a digg article... At least you should hope I don't.
- drizzlelicious, on 03/21/2008, -1/+19I use iGoogle, and I love it
- Jeffler, on 03/21/2008, -3/+19Madness? THIS. IS.
Oh, forget it. - Jorrin, on 03/21/2008, -0/+13Because they own YouTube?
- plbland, on 03/21/2008, -0/+13Except in Japan Yahoo! is number one. It would be clever for google to adapt it's regional pages to suit the needs/tastes of that market no?
- Nitrodist88, on 03/21/2008, -1/+12If you agree with him, digg him up or, at the very least, reply to his comment instead of, I don't know how to say this, polluting the page.
- SSUK, on 03/21/2008, -0/+10Looks like it always did to me.
- chandan333, on 03/21/2008, -1/+10***** off. No spamming here will work.
We r the diggers.Make it clear. - RayG68, on 03/21/2008, -1/+10Tabzilla!!!
- PaulOwen, on 03/21/2008, -1/+10The tabs read:
Recommended, Search, Useful Tools, Fun Stuff
Under the leftmost tab "Recommended" (I think these are a bit more obvious):
Mail, Movies, News, Maps, Travel Info.
It's no mistake that the Google page is starting to look like Yahoo's. Remember, Yahoo had an established presence in Japan a long time before Google. - synaesthesia, on 03/21/2008, -2/+11Thats like a small midwestern town getting a new gas station and you saying it looks like Times Square.
Its a little busier than the old Google page, sure, but its nowhere near the ***** HERE-HAVE-A-FLASHAD-OBSTRUCTING-YOUR-VIEW chaos that is the yahoo homepage. - quomen, on 03/21/2008, -1/+10THIS IS MARCH MADNESS!!
- Vigacmoe, on 03/21/2008, -0/+8No, it's not, at least it looks the same as google.com from here
- RabbitAbout, on 03/21/2008, -0/+7I prefer the basic 'Google' screen as it is at the moment.
Only there for a search. - undersky, on 03/21/2008, -0/+7i read from either businessweek or wsj today blaming google losing market share because its outdated front page or something. dunno what they are thinking
- steste, on 03/21/2008, -4/+11DO NONT WANT
- Ploosheeta, on 03/21/2008, -0/+6I agree with Nitrodist88. Who else agrees?
- Ploosheeta, on 03/21/2008, -1/+7It's more like meh to me.
- Curlz31, on 03/21/2008, -0/+5ummm.....looks cool?
- violentvinyl, on 03/21/2008, -1/+6If you're already using Gmail, GCal, and GReader it makes a great home page. Not to mention I get the 10 most recent front page Diggs, NYT headlines, del.icio.us links (only the ones tagged "daily"), Penny Arcade and several other "geek fundamentals" on my start page. Colossal waste of time? Yes! Convenient? You bet your ass.
Beats netvibes if you ask me.
I can honestly say, between iGoogle and Firefox plugins my web browsing is probably twice as productive and twice as efficient as anyone of comparable ability and interests who might be using, say... IE and Y! for instance. - GregorCZ, on 03/21/2008, -0/+5Buried due to lame.
Google already offers a "more detailed" page to all users, called iGoogle. It's basically a personalized homepage where you can add RSS feeds, a mini gmail inbox, daily comic, etc. - mal1964, on 03/21/2008, -0/+5"The Japan google page is beginning to look like the dreaded Yahoo homepage"
Nothing absolutely nothing looks like the yahoo home page. Are you looking at the right image? - sirbeta, on 03/21/2008, -0/+5I agree too
- XchrisX, on 03/21/2008, -1/+5keep it simple stupid
- ennTOXX, on 03/21/2008, -6/+10I like it plain, they already try to get us to iGoogle it, that was lame... :||
- tektalk, on 03/21/2008, -1/+5It doesn't look cool at all, it's more like bleh to me.
- jenshik, on 03/21/2008, -0/+4So?
- Crisender111, on 03/21/2008, -0/+4No I dont mind. My Google conveniently sits on the Top-Right of my Firefox window.
- Soave, on 03/21/2008, -0/+4There is, in the top left corner:
"Web Images Maps News Shopping _Gmail_ more ▼" - Atomic1fire, on 03/21/2008, -0/+3Waits for someone to mention the multiple processes IE uses
- mal1964, on 03/21/2008, -1/+4Actually yahoo is cleaner than google look for yourself. Yes or No?
http://www.google.com/
http://search.yahoo.com/ - UnWeave, on 03/21/2008, -0/+3Dunno why you're being dugg down, mine is too (followed the link posted above).
- amoeba, on 03/21/2008, -0/+3In case anyone is interested, the tabs read, in order:
'recommended','various searches','convenient tools' and 'more fun'
'osusume', 'iroiro na kensaku', 'benri na tsuuru', 'motto tanoshiku'
http://news.softpedia.com/newsImage/Google-Revamps ... - noseeme, on 03/21/2008, -0/+3It's Google, too much going on.
- windwaker, on 03/21/2008, -0/+3feh.
- Baryn, on 03/21/2008, -1/+3Who actually visits Google.com to make a google search anymore?
- inactive, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2Cool? I cant believe this ***** made frontpage.
- davidwasman, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2This was already on digg months ago. It's not new.
And I'm not saying 'OMG DUPE" i'm just saying this news is old and that Japan page is a BETA, not a final release. - j3rm1981, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2If it ain't broke...
- igob8a, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2Google Korea is way cooler with the animations, which have been there for like a year
http://www.google.kr/
(http://digg.com/software/New_Animated_Google_Page) - HyperJack, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2To see the page use a proxy.
Go to: http://www.hidemyass.com/
And then type: http://www.google.co.jp/ - Ploosheeta, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2I did not digg this article.
- lcarsdeveloper, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2But when you search for videos it shows results from both Youtube and Google Video.
- ailenrayy, on 03/21/2008, -3/+5guess it's simple again now... Google Japan, that is.
