- bitt3n, on 10/12/2007, -3/+34wtf, there are other countries? why didn't I learn this in high school?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31Too bad eBay doesn't allow you to use Google Checkout to purchase items instead of their ***** PayPal service.
- burnnation, on 07/27/2008, -0/+21I pity the fool that uses paypal. I cant wait for Google Checkout to allow international merchants. Paypal will finally go down.
- agent42, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13waiting to become a merchant (when they open it up to Canada)...
- davidsmero, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Amen to that. +4 diggs for you.
- 0004, on 07/04/2008, -4/+14Google Checkout is available to buyers with billing addresses in...
http://checkout.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=48115
Romania is not on that list... and a few other countries.
Buried as inaccurate because the description says:
"Now, regardless of where you live, you can purchase items with Google Checkout"
which is clearly NOT the case. - airiox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I used google checkout for the first time last night, Its pretty nice. :)
It got me 10 bucks off a $40 Samurai Seven DVD on buy.com. :) Samurai Seven is my favorite movie of all time. :) - profingersk8er, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8great!, now just gota wait for Google check out for eBay so I can boycott PayPal forever!
- ngsayjoe, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9When are they going to accept merchant accounts from non-US countries? I'm really looking forward to this.
- quanta88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You and me both. Then I'll drop PayPal like a bad habit.
Byzantine website, buggy options (want to charge tax on subscriptions? Too bad!), sleazy chargebacks, high fees...had enough. - bludo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8Just great!
My country is going to join the EU in three weeks and it's not on the list, but Nigeria Rwanda, Turkmenistan, Zimbabwe are.
Thanks google! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Insert random paypal bashing comment and get dugg up
- Wootery, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Does anyone know why what eBay is doing is legal?
Seems the very definition of unfair competition to me. - ghazalparvati, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4When are they going to accept merchant accounts from non-US countries? I'm really looking forward to this.
Me too. From France. - klawz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4eBay won't allow it becuase eBay owns Paypal now - so they want fees from both sides of the transaction
- stalefries, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I really love all the $20 off deals Google Checkout is doing with various online stores. The new Legend of Zelda for only 30 bucks? SOLD!
- rickjames47, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The only thing that sucks about Google Checkout's API is that the buyer HAS TO have a Google Checkout account. If they allowed people to checkout without this requirements, I bet many more e-commerce sites would flock to use them as payment processors.
- kavery, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3The only reason I've ever used GC is because of their $20 off $50 promotion.
Otherwise, I have no use for it. Not to say some don't, but for the average joe, it's just more money off. - Solan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It is so, so easy to use Google Checkout...now I am using it all the time whenever I am purchasing from a participating merchant. I wish Google Checkout is available everywhere!
- piwy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This won't take off outside of the us unless they add an option to bank transfer money to your Cashout account. Unlike the US, not everyone has a CC in the rest of the world.
- greg9683, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3But that helps the merchant using Google Checkout. If more people are going to buy because they see a discounted price, both places win.
If Google Checkout becomes bigger, its easier to pay without having to add your information to each store. With GC, you can do a quick pay and everything else is taken care of.
This is great to see Checkout growing. It just means Paypal will fall behind or have to step up(they really suck). - AkshayGenius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So, let me git this right, I have never used any online buying service before as I live in Qatar (but im Indian), neither have I ever used paypal (as it sux) , and Im happy Qatar is there on this list. Suppose I want a mbp( which aint available here), I can buy for the same price as ppl buy it in the US or Canada, and it being shipped here?? So, what if I want a new cell, suppose n93, which is about maybe $1100 here and in US about $800 or $900, I can buy it for that price?? That friggin nice, I really wanted this type of a nice service, because everything here is like half the price more. Please enlighten me on this topic.
- kozie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Now where is South-Africa??
Surely we're better to trade with than Nigeria? - Aiwanei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You mean Seven Samurai? Samurai Seven is an Anime based loosely on The Seven Samurai
- szelij, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2According to Galad, YES. That's whats funny, its a whole new way to buy a "cheap" Core 2 Duo from Nigeria..
- boolean, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I always hated paypal
- lilx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Brazil pls!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Doesn't really matter to me as I will only ship to two places: US and Canada.
- incu_vamp, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4since when is hong kong a country??
- Feyr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so am i, their pricing is REALLY attractive. i'm not sure how they do it, but it's half of what everyone is is charging :)
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Both GC and Paypal save the person's account. From a merchant point of view, Paypal is better. Better integration, better structure, better API.
- Piku, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Too bad that Romania is not on that list
- DucksofAnaheim, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Another Google flop...the honeymoon is over.
- javabeta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Not opened to China mainland. But that's advisable because google can not defeat paypal which take up almost all the e-pay market
- alexlavr, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3i use GC on my site. they have pretty good fraud dedection but now that countries like Nigeria are in, I'm not sure they'll be able to handle all the fraud and sellers all the chargebacks
- alanman, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1ive tried using google checkout once and h ad a bad experience.
after a month of my order being 'processed' it was cancelled. they didnt state a reason or anything. - davidsmero, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Did it open to Nigeria ?
- salazr, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Interesting.
- szelij, on 10/12/2007, -15/+5Lol. Is this for real? I've never used Google Checkout before. Plus it has Nigeria in its listings as acceptable places.
