- wpholmes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Here's a dashboard widget that displays the data.
http://dashalytics.rovingrob.com/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10I hope they allow public users to be able to view a sites statistics like sitemeter, if the webmaster wants to make the statistics public.
- chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Google: "We will track you for free! "
I really find this hilarious, as traditional 'privacy fanatics' will no doubt be all over it because it's Google. - acsseo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9This is awesome, it sounds like they have "solved" their scaling problems for the time being. Many people have been looking forward to this, hopefully they do not have issues again.
- brainz51, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I don't think javascripts work on myspace
- hodyoaten, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I'm really disappointed that I can't point my account at Google Analytics... it would be an awesome infinite recursion.
- keitho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6and the 10 profile limit is recent. i got in when it originally opened up and it was a max of 5. the 10 limit was added late last month.
- Agraek, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Of course, this comes 4 days after finally getting my invite from google -- and waiting 4 months to get it. Damnit. Oh well, I can't really complain too badly, since it's a really detailed service.
- BloodJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6There's a simple solution for privacy fanatics: use Firefox adblock to block the http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js script. Why should I spend cycles telling google where I'm going when buddy's server logs already have that info?
- pupkind, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6The solution is privacy fanatics is actually -
echo "0.0.0.0 www.google-analytics.com" >> /etc/hosts - razei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Google Analytics' page layout looks a lot different than their traditional style.
- chadu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i really like Google analytics. wish it supported more than 10 profiles per account though.
- badbilly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+410 profile limit still? Damn!
- xxdesmus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Just link to the actual blog posting then (as mentioned above):
http://analytics.blogspot.com/2006/08/were-open-instant-access-now-available_15.html - simX, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@Agraek: You had to wait 4 months? I waited at most a week after requesting an invite to get it. Weird.
- mikew101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's weird how these things work. I have a writely account, and have had one before google bought them out, but as soon as google bought them you could no longer get into the system.
- thal3s, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Google Analytics kicks all ass.
I've used it for a couple of my websites for well over 6 months now, and it's simply the best tool in its class.
Webalizer and those horrible, cheap "stats" tools that GoDaddy and other hosts provide are a complete joke compared to what i can do with Analytics (we're talking drill-down results, the abilty to block your local dev box, all kinds of goodies).
Go use it NOW. :-) - norbiu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It took them 2 and a half months to send me my invitation.
- crimsonguard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Google Homepage Module released as well (javascript as well):
http://googlemodules.com/module/1374/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1same it took mine a week, but my firends had to wait for a long time as well.
- Sperlock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It took a few days for my site (not a myspace page) to start getting data; it's not an immediate thing.
- keitho, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2btw, this has been open to adwords users for a few months now.
- nirvdrum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I hardly think you'd notice the cycles being spent, so there's little merit in complaining about that. Additionally, it provides more info than just simple HTTP refererer. E.g., it'll detect what link was clicked to get to a destination, rather than just the destination was visited. This information is very helpful in optimizing page layout and content organization, as you can probably imagine.
- kwalker411, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Great, but does anyone know what Google's doing Measure Map?
http://www.measuremap.com/
Meaasure Map is an easier to use application which pares down the fire-hydrant flood of information available through Urchin. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Google Analylitcs is a proffessinal tool, not a hit counter made for myspaces's. sorry to burst you bubble, get a real website
- acsseo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2As they say...better late then never, I guess.
- duncantuna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is cool --.. but is anyone having a problem with Firefox displaying the data? FF basically shows nothing .. if I bring up google analytics in IE, it works perfectly. Very odd.
- brooklyngr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is great, I have been using the application for a few months now and find it one of the best tracking systems out there.
- acsseo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Here is a link to Google's own blog post about this from one of the owner's of Urchin which was what Google bought and turned into Google Analytics:
http://analytics.blogspot.com/2006/08/were-open-instant-access-now-available_15.html - nocent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you'd think they would have changed the TOS since Google acquired them and made the service free...
""Account" refers to the billing account for the Service. All Profiles linked to a single Site will have their Page Views aggregated prior to determining the charge for the Service for that Site." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I know this is a stupid comment, but why wont it work with my myspace home page? I pasted the code onto it and I reloded the page a few times but nothing has shown up yet.
- pondster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Iv'e been waiting for an invite since friggen January!
Even submitted every couple months as per their blog and nothing,
I am SO glad I signed up asafp yesterday, didnt want to miss out again. - Robear, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Dang, this makes me wish I had a website.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Awesome, been waiting for this one for a while.
- BlinderBomber, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2You needed an invite to use this? I just signed up about a year ago.
- macewan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1didn't realize it was invite only, been using it for awhile -
- magicRob, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Sorry for the cross promotion, but i did post this article a couple of days ago...
http://digg.com/apple/Dashalytics_A_Dashboard_Widget_For_Google_Analytics - BOBCHINACD, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0ummmm
- scrambled, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1I've never really liked Analytics, but then again I've never really given it a chance. My site gets so little traffic it's barely worth watching.
- spinchange, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1YES!
- tastethevenom, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1If it wasn't reliant on JavaScript, I'd use it.
