- duck1123, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13Google buying FeedBurner would cut out the middleman for a lot of feeds on the net.
As it stands right now, FeedBurner has to hit the original source and cache that, and then Google has to hit FeedBurner and cache that for it's reader product. (and others) With this, Google could just check their FeedBurner database when it comes time to display my Reader page. - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -9/+14Of course, if this was Microsoft, ithe repsonses would be "Well, I guess if you can't innovate, you just buy the competition.
And even though that is what mostGoogle did for most of Google's services otehr than search and ad sense, no one talks about hat. And morons stil actually try to claim that Google is innovative. - syafthegeek, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Google is spreading its wings. This is a very competitive move as Feedvertising is a new way of advertising. People love feeds.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Steve Jobs has a total lock on the RSS market. Except he calls it podNews and it only works with Quicktime. Such a juggernaut of computing power.
- vemerge, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5They they like to make money, and like purchasing good businesses with solid fan bases?
- abhim8, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6yea, then they censor your postings and steal your photos. yea, why not yahoo?
- MrViklund, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Would be cool but they don't need to buy it. They could easily create their own RSS-service.
- paulmdx, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4"American public"? WTF?! Newsflash: This is an international website with an international userbase.
- gotamd, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4I would rather it remain independent, but I also think Yahoo might be better than Google so far as remaining "independent" from a parent company goes.
- MrViklund, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Get a clue.
- tobleronejones, on 10/11/2007, -6/+7I'd rather Yahoo! bought it and left it alone. Example being what happened to writely vs flickr & delicious.
- praveens, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1why should one pay heed to mashable.com
- BaByB0y, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Google team is smart, very smart :)
nXqd - TexanPsycho, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Yeah, it's not really the same thing.
- gotamd, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Actually, Feedburner can also hit this feeds directly. That's what I do.
- gotamd, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Oops, I meant FeedDemon. I don't use the FeedBurner web interface. It's far too slow.
- kodeart, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1They already have one.
(Get a clue...?) - musicmixingguru, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1what good is stats if google is altering them..i cringe everyday i see my stats from mybloglog that i had way more clicks on my site then google tells me and that is ripping me off to keep the advertisers spending with them. Its a no win situation for the bottom publisher you just have to take how they give it. so now if google takes over feedburner which i hope they don't all there going to do is just modify it so that you see it the way they want you to see it..google is big business and there starting to cut the ones that made google ads possible.
- M2Ys4U, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1yousuckbitch: Have a British digg down.
- AcePup, on 10/11/2007, -8/+6Google is smart, feedburner would be a great acquisition!
- kenvsryu, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2There was a beta google adsense for rss - I don't think they need feedburner for that.
- kodeart, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0Google IS a problem lately. Monopolizing *everything good*? It reminds me on Nineteen Eighty-Four and I would love to see the day about "He who flies high..."
- yousuckbitch, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1There is nothing wrong in a single company buying everything over the web, dont be jealous !!!
Google should acquire feedburner. - kevin.gc, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2I thought Feedburner already used adsense.
- digiwombat, on 10/11/2007, -9/+5Google is really starting to bother me. Why are they buying everything? And why are you all going along with it like it's fine?
Don't Be Evil is just a motto. If George Bush picked up the motto "Everything is Fine" would you guys just slag off?
Microsoft did this 10 years ago and everyone went *****. It's a problem. - yousuckbitch, on 10/11/2007, -7/+2Wow look at all the negative comments getting most diggs, this is what american public is all about now a days full of ***** talking hypocrites !!!lol
- awahid, on 10/11/2007, -5/+0WTF google trying to prove ?
- emom, on 10/11/2007, -8/+4Oh god, I hope not. FeedBurner whips Google's ass as a brand.
- javaroast, on 10/11/2007, -8/+2Dude spit it out. If you are going to be a troll at least take the time to be comprehensible. Otehr, mostGoogle, No one talks about hat??? I guess you must be a Fedora lover. That's cool, but if you want to talk about it submit a story.
- datagod, on 10/11/2007, -9/+2I for one welcome our new GoogleBurner overlords.
