- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20July 24, 2007. Google becomes self aware.
- 00Wang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15Here's something interesting. Try searching google.cn (images) for "Tienamen", misspelling intentional.
- djNullSpace, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Yes... the communist government blocks any domains they don't agree with, google.com being one of them.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10I first searched it with the correct spelling.
Then I searched the misspelling.
Amazing. - Petronski, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8It's nice to see totalitarian censorship is alive and well in the 21st world. /sarc
...with no shortage of capitalist lackeys to kneel before it, for a buck. - bugsy187, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Google just bought 2006... news just in...
- quaunaut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4July 5th, 2020: We all realize that Google deserves its place above us, and willingly submit again, commiserating "World Loves Google" Day.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4These large corporations made the moral leap working in collusion with dictatorships for cash, And we made the leap with them by continuing to patronize them for convenience. We have only ourselves to blame for the consequences.
- thegovner, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5August 2008 Google buys an island and creates the Isle of Google from which to start world domination
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2WTF your right I was all ready to post a link of the search to prove it. Honestly it was taken out, it's interesting it isn't anymore.
digg me down guys - smittyfree, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3July 4th, 2020: Humans unite to overthrow our Google overlords. It is declared World Independence day.
- strabes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If China is ever going to modernize they need to smarten up and realize that oppression isn't the way to wealth & power. I sort of thought it was funny when I looked at the real search results with the tanks and stuff.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just Googled Samson Blinded and that website was the first to pop up. I don't understand.
- spriggig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Too lazy to Google it, but I ran across an article a few months back that claims that the current generation of Chinese college students do not recognize the elsewhere-infamous photo of the man standing down the tanks. Nor do they have any significant knowledge of the demonstration events surrounding the photo.
On the other hand, I shop at my local Sprawl-Mart on a weekly basis and feel no guilt or responsibility to do otherwise. - roder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Who's having the Best Year Ever? Google.
- jav1231, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd agree. I think they really did sell out on this one. All conscientious high-ground has been lost. It's sad.
- pirashkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And it makes me want to throw up when I see search engines have censored versions.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice 2006 Memories by Google on our minds
- jav1231, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I dunno...it's working so far. I don't see Google telling them to fsck off.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow I thought I was bad LOL
- chris4404, on 10/12/2007, -4/+5I'll take Google over Apple everyday.
- Yokohamalion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You will find no one more of a capitalist libertarian than I but as a matter of conscience I think that Google has sold their soul and thumbed their nose at the very system that propagated their existence when they succumb to Chinese censorship for profit. It makes me sick!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Google in the US and the UK do the same thing they purposely block certain websites that don't agree with the current Administrations, for example;
http://samsonblinded.org
"Google banned this site from the advertising program. Amazon deleted all reviews to stop the discussion. " - cricketsymphony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+112 pictures and none of the tubes??
- fatbeaver, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm starting to get tired to hear google all the time...
- DeaPeaJay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1If the chinese know english, is there anything stopping them from visiting the american google?
- elcerrito, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Embracing 7,942 workers worldwide as of today according to the google website, I'd like to expect more impacts to our life from their software innovations. I guess the high percentage of them are software engineers, they should enough man power and technology to make that happen. I want to see great new products, not just improvements.
- geekitechture, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The problem with Google's servers is they give results based on your ISP. So they "read" your ISP's American address and return a completely different set of results than what people get when using google.cn in China.
What I'm saying is, just because we're looking at "bad" pictures of Tianamen Square on Google.cn, doesn't mean that the Chinese are looking at them, too. - Callanb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google will not let the truth get in the way of a good profit
- RoflMyWaffle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0lol, second page of sensored results at google.cn, correct spelling, shows two girls making out :P how awesome.. but that really is scary, is China trying to convince their people the whole tienanmen thing didn't happen? That's gonna work. Reminds me of the book The Giver
- Smoothie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Google advertising program != Google search.
- tzcomwhiz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1@ djNullSpace
Wow, people making false assumptions without the facts sure annoy the heck out of me. Have you ever been to China and try to access google.com? I have just this summer and it worked for me. Maybe your browser wasn't set up right?? - Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2January 1 2008
Google creates its own matrix - unangst, on 10/12/2007, -9/+6Google 2006 in 12 Pictures? It's kind of scary to read an article where the word Google starts every sentence.
- PaulCarus, on 10/12/2007, -11/+1More evidence of the degradation of digg-cutlure.
All hail the Monoculture!
